Hopeless. Rang on Saturday with a blocked drain backing up foul waste and was told someone would come out 'by 6'. 6 came and went was advised to call back in an hour or two if no show. Eventually advised at 7.15 that it was too late for that day but that it would be the first job the next day. Bloke rang Sunday morning and advised that the cost would be higher, they only had a two man team available and better to book for another day. Sounded like he didn't want the job. Basically i spent 24 hours hanging around for nothing. Rang a rival firm (also ending in 'rod') who came out within two hours and fixed the issue straight away. Won't by bothering with metrorod ever again.
25 Mar 24 A Metro Rod engineer was assigned to a job at my property via the Hometree app. I had a blockage in my soil stack which was leading to a back up in my upstairs toilet and bath. The engineer struggled to remove my drain cover, promptly using force to get it off and causing damage to the cover. Metal was sheered off the frame, creating a risk not only to person but also vehicles parked on my drive due to it being sharp and jutting out. Once work began, the engineer decided that it was scale build up that was the issue and promptly decided to pack up his things, stating that 'it's an insurance job and very expensive to fix'. He did go upstairs to attempt to plunge the toilet and bath however, when attempting the latter he brought up a lot of (human) waste and dirty water into my bathtub. He didn't remove the bath mat prior to doing this (or ask me to do so) and didn't offer to clean up his mess. I have two small children in the house and this prevented me from bathing them that night because of the obvious health risk. To add insult to injury, another firm who I contacted manages to resolve my issue in 25 minutes using the same equipment avaliable to Metro Rod's engineer. It just felt like he couldn't be bothered and just wanted to get home. I am currently in separate talks with Hometree to resolve the issues raised above, but felt compelled to offer a fair assessment of the work (or lack thereof) that Metro Rod carried out on my property. I would not recommend this company.
I had blocked toilet bath and sink, Nick attended he was on time very polite and helpful and cleaned up after himself 5 star service...
I think these Metro rod guys and gals need a medal for the work that they do. I’ve just been really poorly with horrible vomiting and diarrhoea and oh what timing, but the drain gets blocked and backs up. so Metro Rod come and he has to clear it. And what he’s had to clear is a weeks worth of my diarrhoea And stuff. I don’t know how they do it I really don’t know how they do it. I hope they paid a phenomenal amount of money per month.
Lincoln branch is diabolical. Had a guy come out twice for us, did absolutely nothing. Said he’d “check the pipes from our shared man hole” for us and then just disappeared. Will name and shame if this happens again because it’s utterly ridiculous.
Local MetroRod failed to respond to emails for a quote after some preliminary conversations. Seems clear the franchise model is not working properly. This is why I post this against the MetroRodHQ . I recommend prospective buyers check the various franchisees credentials on Companies House.
Guys pls note the time the worker comes in and out, and whatever procedures they use, bcoz they will end up overcharging and writing things in job description that weren't actually performed. My friend ended up with a bill of £200 for 15 mins of work.
Spent £180 on a visit. Unbelievably the chap managed to miss that it was a dripping tap that was causing the leak. This took a plumber 2 minutes to work out. Said it was damaged underground drains and caused a massive expense to repair when there was nothing wrong. The quotes they supplied were also twice what the insurer quote was. Complained but got nowhere. Just ring a plumber next time because they haven’t got a clue
Paid for a CCTV survey to be passed to our insurance company to help progress sewage smells inside our house. Discovered belly in the pipe under the floor, pipework that wasn’t deep nor steep enough, and poorly routed connectors that were prone to blockages and back flowing into the pipe belly. Only surveyed one of three soil pipes and reluctantly performed the jet wash after being prompted and needing to leave site to fill the van with water. Survey came back two weeks late identifying only the belly and making no other mention of any of the other issues. Still waiting to hear back from them regarding my complaint about the lack of detail and thoroughness of the survey.
I had 3 engineers out to attempt to resolve the crack in my drain pipe. I paid £3000 for the work to be completed. Which none of the attending engineers could complete. The communication between engineers & office was poor. I was left the middle person between them. Still not resolved.
Well, Where do I start? MetroRod at LondonSouth. They are quick, reliable. The Engineers they have brilliant, brilliant people. The office are great! Everything about the service I received was amazing!
Had an emergency water leak in the bathroom. Aaron was the engineer who came to do the repair. He was prompt, polite, did an excellent job in replacing some piping and left the bathroom in pristine condition. Cannot praise him highly enough. Definitely recommended. Many thanks.
during working hours, depending on which franchise you call you will get different service levels at different costs for the same job description, but the ooh is what takes the biscuit, literally each time (3 to date) i have tried them, they have promised to attend and then either just not turned up or when chased late in the day, told "the van has broke down" and unreliable. Update, The next day Metro rod carried out the works and actually gave a good service, its just the ooh that are shocking, you need to get that sorted. Thank you for the good service by the team on site.
HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been asking for your complaints procedure since 27th April 2022. I was firstly sent an invoice I have no idea why? then when I enquired I was informed that my email address had been compromised? so you have broken data protection and then on top of this have not replied to me since 8 Feb 2022???
At the end of October, Metro rod carried out a camera survey of my drains. Because they were ten minutes over the basic two hours, they charged for an extra hour. £324 in total. I was promised a quote for the necessary repairs the following week. Eleven weeks, three emails and two 'phone calls later, I am still waiting for some communication from them. This was literally money down the drain.
Your drivers don't know how to park and need a lesson in parking and driving or shouldnt be driving a vehicle that size if they cant park it,I get home from work to find I can barely park my car in my own parking bay because of one of your drivers poor parking, parked over the line into my bay and I have photo evidence
Had my back yard drains become blocked on boxing day not ideal. Rang metro rod and they managed to get someone out to me lunch time the following day. Unfortunately that's where the good ends!. The gentleman who attended "attempted" to clear my drains for about 10 mins before running out of water. I then had to ask my neighbour to use his outside tap to refill his water and he proceeded to sit in his van for half an hour before attempting again to clear my drain. After this he declared it was the local water authorities issues as it was in their drain and spent a further 20 mins sat in his van calling them for me. After this he left me with a reference number and left. Not happy with this I decided to chase the water authority up myself due to having young children and being unable to use any water due to my drain still being blocked!. When the local water authority turned up later the same day the worked out within 30 seconds it wasn't their drain however despite turning up with the wrong equipment and it not being their responsibility still cleared my drain and even went to the effort of diagnosed the issue for me something metro rod didn't bother to even attempt. A week and several phone calls later I've still not been able to get a meaningful response from metro rod after being told a manager would be in touch. I've rang today 8/1/24 twice to be told the manager is in a meeting and to leave a voice mail to put through to a line that just disconnects me. In short terrible company terrible service that seem very quick to make it someone else's issue take your money and run avoid like the plague.
Called at 7.30pm on Christmas eve. Blocked sink! Easy (and reasonable)payment over phone approximately half an hour later Rhys was at our door to come to our rescue. Ryhs very pleasant, clean, helpful and friendly, and he completed the job with no problems. I would definitely recommend and will be using again if the need arises
I can’t rate metro rod any higher I would give 10 stars if I could, we had a big blockage which was effecting my whole property & left us unable to use the bathrooms and kitchen equipment ( dishwasher / washing machine) & panic mode had subdued our household. A huge shout out to Mark Armstrong (give this guy a raise) from the Milton Keynes depot, he showed up on time and got straight to work, not only did he do a thorough investigation he was very informative through the whole process & he had everything back up and running in a matter of a couple of hrs. We now have a home that has everything running even better than when we moved in and we have had a massive weight lifted off our shoulders. If you are ever worried the job could be complex and not easy to resolve give Metro Rod a try, I was dumbfounded how quickly everything was back up and running in the best condition it has been since we purchased. It’s also worth noting the cost of getting back up and running was very reasonable. I will 100% use them again.

Apr 16,2024I cannot recommend Metro Rod enough, we had a severe back up sewerage within our office building (eye watering), I called and spoke with extremely polite staff who managed to allocate an engineer for the same afternoon, as it turned out the allocated engineer was unavoidably delayed so Metro Rod rearranged their schedule to avoid letting us down, The Engineer who had just returned home after a long shift attended site and got straight to work, quickly identified the issue which was actually well outside our premises at a main drain chamber on our neighbours carpark. All mess was cleaned up and internally and externally like they were never there, a little air freshener and couple of open doors cleared the smell. Happy office staff Thank you Metro Rod
