As one of the largest privately-owned direct mortgage lenders in the nation, New American Funding is dedicated to helping families and individuals improve their quality of life through homeownership. Headquartered in Orange County, California, NAF has quickly grown to become a leader in the home loan industry.
I was ecstatic when they were so receptive and quick to reach out to me, letting me know I was prequalified, how much it was for, and everything. Then they dragged me around for weeks while the interest percent steadily rose. Ran my full credit report and then transferred me to another agent that was local and specialized in the type of loan I wanted. Wait for another week- only to be told SHE WASN'T CERTIFIED TO DO THE LOAN TYPE I WAS SPECIFICALLY SENT TO HER FOR. Ok, fine. Let's do the other. I just want this done as its been almost a month at this point and they claim a 15 day close period. I get that there are exceptions... but by this point I've been left dangling for days with no answer to my questions. 3 weeks after my credit was fully ran- she runs it again- which is supposed to be for the preapproval. Nope- somehow she can't do the preapproval because suddenly there is no prequalification. ... really? We don't qualify now for the prequalification. No reason why that's changed (debt went down) except perhaps the two credit pulls? Get told to come back in a few months. Find out that the projected time to return is AFTER the interest rates are slated to go up again. Looking like we dodged a bullet from a money hungry, greedy company that is either inept at communication or flat out predatory. We will never return to New American Funding for a mortgage.
Inept and scammy. The rep we worked with couldn't seem to get our loan docs right. And when we pointed out inaccuracies, he insisted we needed to sign anyway in order to get the process rolling. Mind you, We have bought several homes before and never had these problems or tactics applied. His supervisor was just as awful. Higher lender fees than Wells Fargo, and APR of 7.9% on a 6.25% interest rate lock? They are predatory and have rebranded after having been sued for charging high rates in the past. My advice: find a different lender.
East process with speedy results.
I truely felt as though Jullian Moss understood the importance of great communication. He was never rude or distant in any way. I felt like he actually cared about what we were trying to accomplish and felt the weight of each decision we made and every paper signed. A truely great and pleasent person!
Zack Bazzi was amazing to work with! Zack was professional, personable, efficient and did not make us feel like just another number. He kept communication lines open, informed us of what to expect next, every step of the way!
Outstanding service
I won’t say anything bad but I really can’t say anything good. I will leave it at that.
I wish I could give them a zero!!! The house loan was in my late husbands name. He did not have a will. I paid the loan for 2 years with their shady calculations I might add. I just recently refinanced the house to get it in my name and get away from them!!! They sent me an escrow refund check but their bank refused it. Now I have to be made the executor of the “estate” before I can get MY money!!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!! I called NAF in response to their email and the person who answered the phone didn’t even know what I was talking about. After an explanation not was done yet again. I stand by my original review.
Total scum bags. Brennan Fellows is a con man POS. Tied up loan for 4 months. Rocket Mortgage got me closed in 6 days.
Not a great experience. When you are having financial difficulties. You would want a lender that actually cares and gets the ball rolling to see if you are approved for mortgage assistance. Communication is horrible, I’ve sent over all documents needed more than 5 times and they still asking for the same documents. This is stressful as it is and to have a company with this lack of experience and lack of communication is not a company I want to work with. Several emails sent to the person handling my case and multiple phone calls and NO return call or email! It’s been close tom2 months with no improvement in my mortgage assistance. When is time to refinance I will definitely be going to a different mortgage company.
This company is refusing to release money for the repairs of a bathroom renovation. I have paid the contractor for supplies for the job! Which is in scope with the work. The mortgage company is not releasing the insurance payment… they are wanting 80% of the job completed. I told them these contractors now in my area are not working on an IOU… please release the funds so the work can be completed… now keep in mind the job is less than $5,000 dollars. A relatively small job. However, the New American Fundind Loss Mitigation staff have been so difficult with complex forms and will not even let me speak with management. I assume they gonna take the check and go to lunch. They are telling me that at this point there is nothing else they can do,,, but keep the check. Please don’t use this company for anything… RuN! They don’t want to send me my check… I have called and spoke with them several time Now Nov 24th, New American Funding… said they will keep my money and not release it… my mortgage company New American Funding “ Broker Solutions” crooks!
I went with New American Funding because they would work with a credit score of 580. I was in Washington State. The agent there found I had tax liens and to get them removed before we could go forward. That was 2 years ago. Now I am in Virginia. My tax lawyer got them removed except for one that was $260. So I applied again. I got a different agent, Anthony. What I didn't know is that even when when you owe no taxes, it takes a while before the IRS wipes them off the books. Anthony is a snake, a used car dealer. So he calls my tax lawyer. My tax lawyer tells him it will take time to get them off the books, but gave them my IRS transcripts showing I only owe the $260. Now we are less than a week before closing. No. The transcripts weren't good enough. I talk to my tax lawyer and the IRS. They say pay the $260 and then the all liens will get cleared. Anthony says DON'T PAY it or it will delay closing. What? Now I am frantic. Our real estate contract expires. He then tells me to get a payoff letter from the IRS. Because if so many fraudulent IRS returns, the IRS will not give them to you electronically, they will only send them by snail mail. He talked the sellers into waiting a few days. Then, he tells me that the letters have to be worded specifically addressing each tax lien separately. I went ballistic, my real estate agent did too. All along the process it was "one more thing" and we can close. BS. So now I am waiting for the IRS letter hoping it'll be worded correctly. I finally decided to pay the $260. I found out it takes 7-10 days for it to post on my IRS account. Big deal, if Anthony was honest, I would have paid it well before closing. Now it's the day before the agreed extension to close day and no letter yet. The letter will get here, eventually. So the whole deal is blown. My real estate agent did say we might be able to get the seller to wait but now I have to start over with another lender. By then the letter would be here, plus the IRS will have posted the payment on my account. Throughout the whole process he said "I have been doing this for 17 years, I know what I am doing. I know better than your tax lawyer." What a crock.
I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude to our loan officer, Tania Bravo for our recent refinance home loan approval. Tania’s dedication, hard work, patience and expertise made our entire loan process run so smoothly. Tania not only took the time to make our entire loan process easy to understand, she broke it all down line by line to make perfect sense, financially. She was so kind and compassionate and displayed such patience while explaining every detail to my husband and I throughout the entire process, literally from day one to the very end of closing day and then some. We were so impressed with Tania’s honest communication and her willingness to answer any type of question or concern I had, even if It really wasn’t her area of focus. She took the time to make us feel completely secure with our decisions to continue moving forward and always helped us to “trust the process” whenever in doubt. Our family truly needed this refinance for much needed home renovations and will forever be indebted to Tania and her staff for their continuous efforts to make this financial blessing happen. Thank you again Tania, for a superb experience and can’t wait to work with you again in the future. You are most definitely a “one-of-a-kind” loan officer, keep shining bright!!! Sincerely, Amanda and Jeffrey Barber
Went through the process to apply and spoke one time to a high pressured salesman. He wanted to lead me into a product that I wasn’t interested in. Never heard back from him or the company again after uploading all of the personal, sensitive information needed to apply for a real estate loan. Interestingly enough, I’ve received numerous outreach sales calls from them asking for my business, which I’ve since blocked. Then, I started receiving calls from a barrage of other lender brokers from whom I never expressed interest. Makes me wonder if my information was sold off knowing I was not going to go with them. Awful company. I can’t imagine having actually went through with the transaction and how painful and dismal the experience would have been. I chose a BETTER lender and never looked back.
UPDATE: The reply to me from NAF doesn't address any of my issues. Yes, my loan did go through but they did not address the lack of follow-through that lead to the problems at our closing OR the security issues with our data OR the lack of response from customer service. Terrible follow-through from both our loan officer & servicer. We continually had to check up to see if things were being taken care of & they were not. The night before our closing they were still asking for more information from us & our insurance company (which had already been sent to them). Closing was delayed an hour due to their procrastination & then one document still contained errors & almost resulted in us not being able to close on our home. Their secure portal was not consistently used to protect our data. We called customer service to report the issues we'd had & someone listened, essentially nodded their head & said they'd handle it & then we never heard another word back.
Great experience from start to finish with this company, everytime I called I got the Loan Officer I needed, and if not, I recieved a call back that day or the next day. Having the knowledge of purchasing a home and whats expected of you, your agent and the Loan Officer grately enhanced your time from being wasted. I would definitely recommend this company to anyoone searching for a home in the future. The Dumas Team was awesome, and every individual I dealt with was Professional, updated on the rates and Military VA Loan approval. Thanks for the smooth transition and Ive been in my Newly built home for almost a month now. Airborne
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! I started the process in early April and now 6/15 we are still not cleared for closing on a HELOC! I have never experienced anything so unorganized from any lender. The numbers constantly change and they drag the process out without any confirmation or communication. Please take heed and stay clear of this company. This has placed my family in a very bad position as we could have gone with another company and closed by now. They do not care about you and what you are trying to accomplish. I am still not convinced that they have ever closed a HELOC nor other other loan. Please use someone else!
This company promised the world when they first contacted me, I\ gave them all the info they needed, told me it's a 3 week turn around, after 6 weeks still nothing, they said its busy and needed to get an appraisal, another few weeks go by, Mark calls me and said they were $5,000 under on the appraisal, so he said he was going to put a rebuttal in to see if he could get it upgraded and he would call me back that night, or we could do an in person appraisal which would probably get the value up (now its only $5,000 not $100,000)! Its been 2 weeks from that conversation and not a word from them, I have been texting them with no answer!! DON'T USE THIS COMPANY THEY ARE HORRIBLE! DON'T BE FOOLED BY THEIR LIES!!
I noticed something looking at the positive reviews listed for this company, many of the positive reviews are posted on the same day. My question is, how likely is it that a business would receive all 5star ratings on the same day! It appears as if this was done to deflect from all the detailed negative reviews. Also, the images and similar language style used in the positive reviews look like purchased bots.
