Ocean Estate Agents have been selling Bristol homes of all shapes and sizes – large and small, grand ¬and modest, smart and not so smart… for all kinds of people since 1984.
Founder Paul Harris started the business over 40 years ago with Ocean Bishopston on Gloucester Road, and there are now 12 local offices across the city including one in Portishead and Weston super Mare.
Their ethos is very much ‘people before property’, with the emphasis on looking after the individuals and families buying or selling their homes, to make what is often a challenging experience, as worry-free as possible.
Ocean’s teams, reflect the culturally rich communities of this wonderful city, spanning a diverse mix of ages and backgrounds from across Bristol.
It is also very much a family business. Many of the team have grown up and started their own families whilst working for Ocean – they even have some second generation ‘Oceaners’ now working for the company.

I chose Ocean Conveyancing for the legal aspect to keep things tidy. On price, they're fair and their service, matched the professionalism of Ocean Estates. Olivia, extremely knowledgeable, was my point of contact and helped throughout the legal selling process, assisted by an experienced team. Oct 06,2024My partner had previous experience of mortgage conveyancing but this was my first time. What I found unusual about Ocean Legal as a respected firm, is that there was no detailed on-boarding process and no customer service or care for clients -that with very hard to reach staff and slow responses left me feeling that we were completely at the mercy of the legal as to whether we would be successful - it never felt that they had our backs and we were working together to achieve the best outcome. There were repeated mistakes made by the legal team that we flagged at early stages and had to keep chasing up and last minute vital documents to sign with no prior warning. Ocean sold their package of support well to us but the reality was a bumpy ride as soon as we had committed to paying our legal fees. Lastly, my partner was actually told off for trying to get a crucial rapid answer from the legal office and we were given an ultimatum that If we didn’t like the way our case was being managed that we should go somewhere else, a blow when w had already paid the fees. However they did help us get the sale but the entire legal process was far from satisfactory. We would not use Ocean Legal again and would not recommend them to colleagues.

She let us virtually view the property (something every other estate agent we’d come across refused to accommodate), was on hand to answer all our questions and kept us in the loop at all times during our application process. She was knowledgeable, professional and was just such a warm and friendly individual.
