What is OKA all about? Simply put, it’s a love affair with living well. Since the very beginning, we’ve been on a mission to create things that make time spent with friends and family more memorable. We believe that’s the secret to living beautifully: enjoying it.
OKA started small, with three women bringing unique designs from the Far East to shoppers in the West. Lady Annabel Astor, a serial entrepreneur on a mission to find special items to decorate her holiday home with, invited two friends along: her sister-in-law Sue Jones, whose decorating pedigree included stints at Jasper Conran and Colefax and Fowler, and Lucinda Waterhouse, a skilled horticulturist whose company made exquisite faux flowers. Together they set out to create a catalogue of charming home upgrades.
From the start, the OKA team has called on talented artisans from all over the world to bring its ideas to life. Our furniture and homewares prioritise beauty, comfort and style, but we choose items for their integrity, not because they fit a prescribed look. The magic of OKA is the mix: hand-picked global treasures, rich textures and patterns, and timeless furniture profiles. It’s ever-changing but unwaveringly British; elegant and easy-going; sophisticated but never stiff.
And our name? OKA is a phonetic take on ochre, a colour that nods to the East, yet feels innately British. A blend of cultures and aesthetics working in perfect harmony, which is at the heart of everything we do.
Building on over two decades of collections, 13 experiential stores in the UK, a website, and an ideas-packed magazine, we’ve become a destination for lovers of home, season after season. And the more we continue to follow our passion for design, the more we inspire others to find theirs.
Very helpful staff.
Staff were very efficient, helped carry a heavy carpet and displayed it. Dealt with the purchase quickly and helped load the carpet into the car.
Wonderful service from Alexa at the Guildford store. Having recently purchased new cushions for my home, Alexa has been so helpful and her great sense of style has helped me to choose the most beautiful colours that I wouldn’t normally choose. She also has the patience of a saint :-) Thanks for always making it a lovely experience to visit the Guildford store.
Mark and Harry delivered my order at home and they were super nice to bring the stuff in the garage ! Thank you.
Camilla in your Tunbridge Wells store was absolutely excellent. Extremely knowledgeable and patient she helped us through the process of choosing two Radcliffe sofas and cushions.
Staff members were very welcoming and helped in any way they could.
Helpful customer service at Marlow branch today on 30 January
Great customer service, very helpful staff and beautifully presented homeware’s. I’m a huge fan even if things are a little on the expensive side! I purchased a gorgeous cushion which I’m very pleased with.
Young girl serving was very polite but her manager was really sharp and rude with her all the time The managers attitude towards a member of staff wasn’t good at all
Super in store experience - much more than just a retailer! Staff are so helpful with design and genuinely really talented. Brooke in the Chelsea store is brilliant and helped me out of a hole after a poor paint choice colour in a room. She gave me recommendations for products which pulled everything together and arranged me a lovely bunch of faux flowers.
Staff in Guildford really helpful as we tried out many sofas over several visits, helped us choose a dog friendly / washable fabric, offered to change square cushions to bolster shaped and gave a good discount dated from our earliest visit. Simon and Paul who delivered the two sofas were pleasant and painstaking in ensuring that the sofas looked perfect in situ.
Well the staff are always very nice .. I always love the store , it’s a very inspiring beautiful space .
Fantastic product
They are helping people designe great cheerful living spaces . I love how easy it is to see how a scene will look by going to there stores I always go to Chelsea and hungerford for inspiration.
Very helpful staff without being pushy. Plenty of items on display in a very nice ambience
My experience of the shops has always been great. However two years ago bought three sofas and they are the worst I have ever purchased. Still leaking feathers that still ‘prick’ you as feathers are exude from the sofas as you sit on them. Fabric ones have faded terribly. And have already had to bolster the leather one with foam. Really bad quality!
Always a pleasure, charming and helpful staff
The service of Simona and Chris at the Tunbridge Wells OKA store was outstanding! Very patient, attentive and so helpful with design ideas and colour combinations. I couldn’t recommend them more - fantastic customer service, from them both, which felt very personalised.
Oka sent us the wrong sofa. I was in touch with them at the start of last week (reference number 00411161) and they acknowledged mistake and since then we haven't heard a word from Jenny S for over a week despite chasing numerous times. Customer service is appalling, no wonder there are so many recent bad reviews re customer service one can see online. Such a shame as only had good experiences in the past.
