Oyster Worldwide really helped me to make a dream trip a reality. Anne was very kind and was always there whenever I had questions. This trip to South Africa was my first ever Solo trip, so it was safe to say I was very nervous, but they helped me get through it and gave great advice. I would definitely recommend them.
Would definitely recommend to others.
The trip was well organised, although some information provided is outdated and requires update. The staff is professional and supports before and during the trip. It was a pleasure to travel with Oyster Worldwide :)
Booking my trip to Africa was the best decision I've ever made,it was a life changing experience that I will never ever forget. If your still in the middle of decided wether to pack your stuff and go or wether to stay at home..just go,you only live once and it will be the best choice you have ever made.
Having seen the amount of experiences that Oyster offers, I knew I wouldn't be able to say no. Spending 3 months in costa rica volunteering with the little baby turtles was one of the best experiences of my life and I can't thank Oyster enough for all their hard work. Anne, Harriet and all the team are so helpful and are always open to any questions and feedback no matter how silly it might sound to you. They give you all the information and more that you could need and always felt comfortable with them. One of the best things is that they have actually done most of their trips themselves so can give such great advice on anything from which time of year is best for the trip down to how many pairs of socks you need. Since going away with Oyster I have done another trip with them to the outback in Australia which surpassed all my expectations and again with all their help it made me feel so much more comfortable travelling on my own. My older sister has also traveled with them doing a ski season out in Whistler in Canada and having seen her do that I now want to do another one, which Im sure will come some time in the future. Overall oyster worldwide are such a great company and have recommended them to so many people and I wouldn't have to be asked twice to do it again.
My time in Costa Rica was a dream, it is an experience I will treasure for the rest of my life. The beauty of the place and the people radiated all around us. I went on the trip with an open mind, not knowing what to expect and I am glad I did. I was able to absorb the culture and lifestyle, and I am pleased to say it suited me perfectly. The basic lifestyle and hard work is something I strive to achieve in my own little world and it seemed to be the ethos out there, utterly amazing. The aim of the project was clear and the team welcomed me as a new volunteer with open arms, I ended up making friends for life, both who had traveled like myself and locals, even in just a short amount of time! Working with the turtles was a life changing experience and I am proud of the work we achieved whilst there. The first turtle I actually saw was injured and appeared disorientated, unable to actually lay. She became known as Rio (aptly named after the Para Olympics host country). This was a very special moment. As the days passed we began to see more and more turtles on our patrols as they laid. It was a spectacular experience and being hands on with the nests was incredible. I have kept in touch with those still working on the project and they are letting me know all about the nest activity! very exciting! We were also able to build a rancho next to the hatchery when I was out there, this took time and good team work and we were immensely proud of ourselves when we achieved this! I am missing the project dearly and I have plans to travel to that area of the world again to explore more. I am actually looking into more trips organised by yourselves, as I had no issues whilst out there and the support offered from you and the project was faultless. Aug 2016
Paid my deposit and filled in all the forms. Didn't hear back again. Was meant to be leaving December 2017 but haven't heard in 8 months!!! Would like my deposit back please.
I took a gap year after I finished university and it was crammed full of lots of amazing experiences travelling and working around the world. Despite the many countries that I visited, and many amazing things that I was lucky enough to do, volunteering with bears in Romania with Oyster is up there with one of the best experiences. I loved going to the sanctuary each day and seeing the bears, knowing that all I would be doing was going towards their welfare. I loved working closely to the bears, exploring the area in my free time and just having such a different experience. Oyster were amazing, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them - in fact I have, many times!
I didn't get to do most of the tasks promised in my South Africa stay. The veterinary jobs weren't guaranteed and most days I took part in the same tasks as the other volunteers such as wood chopping etc. During my stay there was a horrific accident where too many volunteers were in a safari jeep and it turned over causing lots of injuries.
I had the best time on my travels thanks to oyster for booking everything for me. Without their help I wouldn't have gotten to do half the amazing things I did whilst away in Africa. I am so grateful for my journey and look forward to future bookings through oyster worldwide!!!
Oyster were always in touch with me before, after, and during my trip, and I honestly don't think I came across another Gap year company that what have suited me more. The staff are passionate about travel, and incredibly friendly. I would recommend them to everyone taking a Gap Year.
Living with a host family and teaching English in Chile for 3 months was a really great opportunity, there's no way I could have arranged anything like it without going through Oyster, in fact I probably would never even have come across the lovely small town I lived in! I learnt a lot from the project, including how to speak Spanish (with the help of an Oyster 10 day Spanish course on arrival). The family I lived with were amazing and I still keep in contact with my host mum. I made some great friends and it was really nice to have the other volunteers living near by to meet up with and speak English!! One other thing I really enjoyed was the excursion that was organized for us to the San Rafael Glacier, since it's not quite set up for tourism yet the trip was a great way to try out glacier walking, go hiking and visit the marble caves.
I did a Game Ranger course in South Africa through Oyster Worldwide and loved every second of it. The Oyster team were always available to help with any queries that I had, and helped me prepare for my travels. I would thoroughly recommend Oyster Worldwide to anyone looking to get off the beaten track.
I had a fantastic time. The people were extremely helpful and friendly, both the people in Sri Lanka and those helping to organise it (Harriet Wray in particular). If I had to make one comment, it would be that I think it should be made more clear that you can't have interactions with the elephants.
Once in a lifetime experience. Would highly recommend!
Oyster Worldwide honestly gave me a great experience booking my travel for my gap year. I felt totally confident trusting their choices and advice and had an amazing trip as a result! I'd definitely use them again and recommend them to anyone wanting to have adventures abroad.
The preparation info that Oyster provided for my South African Big 5 adventure was very comprehensive in comparison to other agencies that my fellow travelers had used. I was very suprised to find out from others on the trip that most companies do not provide the same level of support that I assumed was a given based on my experience with Oyster. Like any trips such as these, they are expensive but you definitely get what you pay for with Oyster. I would highly recommend.
Very helpful and friendly staff. Helped with all many of questions and very responsive to emails. Gave a customised kit list for each trip which was very helpful.
Oyster were so helpful at answering all my questions and I had an amazing time in Sri Lanka helping with wild elephant conservation.
