The communication was excellent, and the move was completed quickly and without any damage. I was especially impressed by the extra effort your team put in to help assemble two of my beds and to put boxes in the loft😊. Every member of your staff was kind, courteous, and respectful of our property. The communication from Mita and the Transport Manager, Paul was both polite and efficient, which made a very stressful time in our lives much more manageable. Thank you for making this experience so positive. From start to finish, the entire process was fantastic and made moving much less stressful. The estimate process was straightforward and easy, done over the phone and camera. My many queries were answered promptly, which greatly alleviated my worries. From start to finish all went well.The admin staff were very helpful during setting up process and the delivery men were great .Always a stressfull time but there reassurance was helpfull. They worked very hard moving my heavy furniture and helped with placement.

The day of the move could not have gone more smoothly, the team were on time, super efficient and incredibly friendly. Moving house it expensive and stressful and my wife and I agreed this is the best money we spent in the whole process.

Throughout the whole experience every member of the Pickfords team were professional, helpful, supportive and positive. From the initial call, video survey, moving day and everything in between the service has been excellent. The last few weeks of my move were stressful but the team at Pickfords were supportive and understanding throughout. On the moving day the crew were careful, courteous and full of good humour. Apr 11,2025Everything, and we mean everything, went wrong from the very start of our large house move ( 5 beds, 175 packing boxes). Without our agreement, Pickfords sub contracted our move to a company we had never heard of and who used un branded vehicles- we still dont know who they were. Pickfords later admitted that they sub contract between 20% and 40% of all their removals, depending on how busy they are! So be aware; you might be paying top prices for Pickfords, but actually you might get inexperienced cowboys! The driver mis-judged his maneuvers as he reversed onto our drive, so crashed through the main sewer drain cover and despite promises to repair it immediately, it was left dangerously open and uncovered, with a six foot drop into it for 3 days! Only after Northumbrian Water got involved was it resolved. We were promised 2 large vehicles for the move with 2 crews. Only one vehicle and crew arrived and it was immediately clear they had not been briefed for such a large house move and had only brought less than half the packing boxes they needed. Hence, lots of urgent phone calls for more boxes and another crew. Only the team leader had any experience of house moves and dealing with expensive items. The other guys had just come off benefits and although strong, had no idea how to pack items or protect our items. It was a disaster, but we had no idea just how bad until we started to unpack. LOTS AND LOTS of damage to many of our valuables. Furniture broken, Bang &Olufsen TV damaged, clothes literally crammed like sardines into completely inappropriately sized boxes, because Pickfords hadn't sent sufficient specialist clothes packing boxes. We videod, photographed and detailed all of this and presented the dossier to Pickfords, and discovered the sub contractor had not even notified them of the property damage. The Branch Manager at Newcastle upon Tyne, was horrified when he revewed the photographs and details. He said "even my 7 year old could have done better.....it looks as if they hadn't a clue". He was right. He was keen to make amends and negotiate compensation. Sadly that proved not straightforward. We only guess their Head Office and lawyers became involved, because suddenly his whole approach changed in an instant, and he,and Pickfords became very defensive and unhelpful. In the end we had to threaten legal action and recompense through our credit card provider, before any offer was made. It was miserly and certainly did not cover the damage, repairs or losses we suffered, but house moving is stressful enough, and as two retirees, we decided to cut our losses, avoid any further distress, and put all of this down to just an awful, dreadful experience. But we do want to warn others to consider our experience very very carefully. We could never recommend Pickfords again. Ever. They seem very professional and the advertising and material is impressive. But remember, by their own admission, they sub contract out 20 to 40% of all the work they get and it seems that goes to anyone, without ever letting the customer know that is what they are doing. Our advice now is use a local company who you know and trust. Pickfords seem too big to care and when things go wrong, hide behind their lawyers, become defensive and very very uncaring. A dreadful and very upsetting experience for us both.

Apr 11,2025I recently had my furniture delivered to my new home by Pickfords, after it had been in their storage for five years, and I couldn't be more pleased with the service. Naturally, I was a little nervous about what kind of condition everything would be in after all that time—but I was pleasantly surprised to find that everything arrived in perfect condition. This is clearly thanks to the professional way everything was packed originally, and the careful handling by the team during delivery. The crew was efficient, respectful, and clearly took great care with each item. From start to finish—storage, delivery, and unpacking—Pickfords handled the entire job with a high level of professionalism and attention to detail. It’s rare to find service of this quality, and when credit is due, it should be given. A big thank you to the entire team at Pickfords for making what could have been a stressful experience completely smooth and worry-free. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them!

Apr 15,2025This was a complex move - 400 miles over three days - and we had every confidence in Pickfords as we had used them before. The move manager gave helpful advice and sorted out the details. The removal teams were prompt and helpful, boxes were all labelled and all of our possessions were moved safely.
