Rhode Island Student Loan Authority (RISLA) is a non-profit quasi-state authority that has been providing lower-cost higher education financing solutions since 1981 and free college planning services since 1998. Also provided by RISLA is RIScholarships.org, a free online scholarship search tool to help match students with local scholarships. Additionally, RISLA also offers the Knowledge for College Scholarship, which awards 50 students $2,000 each to help pay for college expenses. For students trying to reduce their interest rates on existing student loans, RISLA also offers low-cost student loan refinancing options. RISLA is with you every step of your college journey, walking you through the college planning process, educating families on obtaining financial aid, and providing tools and resources that help families make informed and responsible borrowing choices to help pay for education.

Sep 07,2023RISLA was great to work with, when I’d call to touch base they were very helpful and nice. I did have to upload A LOT of paperwork before they got what they wanted. Usually your lender just sends a payoff amount and that’s good enough, but RISLA needed each loan with names, school, loan #, amount owed, interest rate, etc. I had issues because sallie mae didn’t have loan numbers on the final disclosures because those are done during the application process. Then I couldn’t upload the info when I found it on laptop, because it had to be a picture or pdf file. I did take pictures of info and that did work, because loan finally went through. Was told it’s best to do on a laptop/pc and not on your phone. It all worked out and went through. Much better interest rate, and if you do auto debit even lower. Very happy with RISLA would recommend to anyone trying to refi loans.
