Rhode Island Student Loan Authority (RISLA) is a non-profit quasi-state authority that has been providing lower-cost higher education financing solutions since 1981 and free college planning services since 1998. Also provided by RISLA is RIScholarships.org, a free online scholarship search tool to help match students with local scholarships. Additionally, RISLA also offers the Knowledge for College Scholarship, which awards 50 students $2,000 each to help pay for college expenses. For students trying to reduce their interest rates on existing student loans, RISLA also offers low-cost student loan refinancing options. RISLA is with you every step of your college journey, walking you through the college planning process, educating families on obtaining financial aid, and providing tools and resources that help families make informed and responsible borrowing choices to help pay for education.

They keep asking for paperwork to be resubmitted, multiple times. This is after it has been submitted. Then emails asking to resubmit as well. Never a phone call to discuss. When I finally called them, I was told they were too busy to respond and ignore the constant email requests. So telling me to ignore correspondence per a phone call I initiated shows inability to mange accounts.

The application process was quick and easy. It was wonderful to be able to speak to a loan service representative by phone without a robo-service, being put on hold or transferred several times! Great customer service so far!

Responsive personal contact by all representatives and convenient access to low applications. The ability to talk to a ‘live’ person (without being put on-hold) who’s knowledgeable AND helpful - WOW!! Thank you for making the pleasure/pain of borrowing $$ thorough and easy. Excellent service. Easy to refinance my student loan, especially at a good rate! It was challenging sometimes to upload my supporting documents and I hope RISLA makes the system easier to use. Loved that I could use my spouse’s income on my application without her being added as a co-borrower. Thank you! So glad that my loan is no longer being held by Navient!!!!!
