Rhode Island Student Loan Authority (RISLA) is a non-profit quasi-state authority that has been providing lower-cost higher education financing solutions since 1981 and free college planning services since 1998. Also provided by RISLA is RIScholarships.org, a free online scholarship search tool to help match students with local scholarships. Additionally, RISLA also offers the Knowledge for College Scholarship, which awards 50 students $2,000 each to help pay for college expenses. For students trying to reduce their interest rates on existing student loans, RISLA also offers low-cost student loan refinancing options. RISLA is with you every step of your college journey, walking you through the college planning process, educating families on obtaining financial aid, and providing tools and resources that help families make informed and responsible borrowing choices to help pay for education.

The company is only versed in a traditional avenue of school after highschool in regards to finding funding that is needed for students to pursue life after graduation. My daughter wants to goto mail technician school and I had hoped to be turned towards different options available for financing. I was also told I would hear back if anything was found and it has been a week with no contact.

Customer service was knowledgeable and helpful. Website application was poorly configured for a retired co-signer. I could not select multiple files to upload using Microsoft Edge. Had to upload them one at a time.

The manager investigated why my loan was being declined as my school was listed as a certificate only institution. I demanded a manager contact me and when she did she said she investigated further and found my institution grants 4 year degrees

I applied for a refi loan from RISLA. The customer service was excellent and I was always able to get in touch directly with my loan officer, who was very clear and courteous. Once the paperwork was finished, the loan decision came through very quickly. It did take a while for the disbursement to reach my current lenders, but RISLA communicated when it was sent, so it was just a matter of double-checking. I've only just started paying on the loan, so can't speak to any concerns there, but setting up and account and sending payment has been straightforward so far!
