The fact I've had to pay a fee to change the details of my dog over is beyond a joke! Ive never had this issue with any other chip company
Terrible Customer Service, not able to transfer ownership from Rescue Centres to new adopters without the adopters paying an extortionate fee, emails being ignored for weeks and unhelpful staff. Avoid at all costs!
I am very concerned about our inability to contact a real person at this company. No telephone number except for "emergencies" As a Trustee for a rescue charity, when a dog is surrendered to us by its owner, we need to be able to check microchips to ensure a dog is not stolen, and then transfer into our rescue's name very quickly. Currently this process is far too slow with emails not being replied to appropriately. I see the company is owned by Data Candy, but I am unable to find contact details for the directors of this organisation.
Having moved 200 miles away, getting married (different surname), being locked out off my email, and having a holiday booked, my anxiety was through the roof because my little boys details were not up to date. I contacted Joanne in SmartTrace. She was amazing, really kind and helpful. We recently got a two year old Podengo from a Podengo Breeder, and he was registered with SmartTrace. It was very easy to swap him over to us but I couldn't see how to download the ownership certificate. I contacted SmartTrace and Joanne quickly sent me clear instructions on how do it. It's a pity all companies don't have such quick and nice customer service. Thank you
Just been notified my pet micro chip number has been transferred without my authorization. What is this company all about. Just logged in and my chip number is registered to different dog. Just sent in a ticket. Update: They fixed the issue. Still no way to contact them on the phone. Only way to communicate was through website.

I got into a muddle with the website & ended up paying twice. I contacted Joanne & she replied very helpfully to let me know the extra payment would be refunded.
I had an incorrect DOB on my records when I registered my puppy so emailed the issue to customer service and Joanne sorted the error quickly Communication was swift and resolved the issue within 48 hrs of my request.
I was getting so worried as my lovely dog is now living with my daughter. I can't manage her as well as renovating a house and 2 cars. It was not fair on the dog. But the chip got lost during a transfer of the data. It would have been awful if anything had happened just then but Joanne stepped up and sorted it! I'm so relieved. Thank you.

I contacted SmartTrace after I had registered my dog under a wrong microchip number and I expected to have difficulty getting this corrected. Bree responded within 24 hours and within a couple of quick replied to emails, had made the adjustment and resolved my issue. Rare to receive such good customer service, so thank you, Bree.

Jul 23,2024Brought our puppy home last year. Couldn't remember if we changed over her chip details. I sent an email yesterday (Sunday) to Smart Trace and recieved an email first thing this morning from Joanne at Smart Trace confirming that everything was OK and pups registration was up to date. Really appreciated the quick response which gives me confidence in the help I would receive should the worst happen. Thanks Joanne.
