May 06,2023My husband and I have used turbotax for many years to file returns jointly. We always buy the “tax audit defense” add on and have never needed it. This past January i received a letter from the IRS called a “cp-2000” Apparently these notices are somewhat common, basically saying for last years tax returns, the IRS computers noted a discrepancy in what stocks we claimed we owned and what info they received from the broker (like etrade) The bill was around $7,000 but with interest and penalties the bill was $9,000! I received this letter maybe Jan 15 and it was due Feb 9! Of course i got panicked but then remembered we had this “tax audit defense” It was absolutely amazing, you call or go online to the-tax audit app and they start a case for you. You do not speak to the IRS, you are introduced to your tax professional, mine was Veselina and she was incredible. Its so easy too, you send messages and documents all through the secure app, she asked for basics like last years returns in full, a copy of the IRS $9,000 bill and we sent a power of attorney (which was a copy of our drivers license and signature which gave Veselina the authority to communicate with the IRS on our behalf!) That in itself was a relief. I sent her all paperwork through the app and we scheduled a phone call. She was so professional and supportive, she went over every detail of this patiently and explained the process so well. Basically she takes a couple of days to go over everything and see if the bill is accurate from the IRS, then we schedule a second call and she tells me what she has found. For my case she saw right away the IRS computer made an error and counted the handful of stocks we owned twice so it looked like we didn't declare some of that income on our returns! $9,000 bill and it was their (IRS) fault! (I cannot tell you how much i wanted to bill them a penalty for causing such stress! America is the greatest country on earth but the tax man can really turn your hair gray! Veselina then with our permission proceeded to respond to the IRS on our behalf! She replied by that due date of the bill Feb 9 and warned us the IRS is slow in responding and acknowledging but she will follow up with them regularly and notify us if there are any updates We got a letter from the IRS a few weeks later acknowledging Veselinas response and saying it will take many weeks for them to get to my issue. Veselina contacted me several days ago to notify me the IRS closed our case! We owed NOTHING from last years return because it was their error to begin with. Veselina even included the IRS response in writing which we just received in the mail. What I find amusing is the letter acknowledged we owe the IRS nothing and case is closed but the IRS never admits error or apologizes. Love it 😊 Please utilize this service, we paid for the tax audit defense add on for years and never used it but let me tell you, it was tremendously helpful the one time we did need it! May 02,2023The person they assigned to me didn't seem to understand the situation or what documentation is necessary for my case and was not able to tell me what documentation to get to satisfy the IRS. I now have to go to tax court. They wasted my time and made this more complex than it had to be.

Apr 25,2023For me there was a certain amount of psychological trauma involved when the IRS sent me a letter stating that my 2021 tax return was inaccurate. Knowing full well that their assessment was not true, this soon caused me extreme consternation. But, fortunately for me, I always purchase the Turbo Tax Audit Defense (TTAD). I reviewed my TTAD data and determined what the appropriate telephone number was to call for help. I was informed about what to do and soon I was assigned a representative. The representative told me what information to send to her; and it was very easy for me transfer all the needed items via the internet. Very quickly she had completed the review and agreed with me that there were no errors on my part. She sent the required information to the IRS and within 45 days the IRS resolved the tax issue in my favor; and they then closed their inquiry. The representative dealt with me in a very professional way and I greatly enjoyed working with her. She is a definite asset to TaxAudit.
