Feb 28,2025I recently returned to beautiful Wood MediSpa for a procedure with Dr Toby Nelson for a BCC removal on my cheek. After being Let down by the NHS, I felt that time was of the essence and a journey back to see Toby made perfect sense for me. Once again, I felt relaxed and in safe hands. The calming, oak clad waiting room with wood-burner and sofas overlooking the country estate, couldn't be more far removed from my experience a couple of weeks earlier where my procedure had been abruptly cancelled on the day. Toby greeted me personally and together with his lovely nurse Claire, I received excellent treatment. I am three weeks on and have heard back from Toby with a follow up. I am already healing well, with another good outcome with scarring. I would recommend Dr Toby Nelson to anyone with concerns in any area of Dermatology. Wood MediSpa is a wonderful place and what has been achieved there has to be experienced first hand. My reasons for returning: Two years ago, I received excellent MOHS surgery by Dr Toby Nelson for a large BCC on the dorsal of my nose which had been misdiagnosed elsewhere. On entering Wood MediSpa, due to the beautiful and relaxed surroundings I immediately felt at ease. I was greeted with warmth and care by the Reception team and I knew when I met Toby that I was in safe and trusted hands. I had a two step complex surgery and reconstruction which happened over a two month period. It felt devastating at the time. However, the outcome exceeded all my expectations with scarring. Toby had offered 3 types of reconstruction, and being my face I went for the 'Gold' involving a skin graft. With good follow-up appointments and support throughout, I feel the whole experience was the best it could have been anywhere.

Feb 13,2025Was feeling terrified at the thought ofmy eye op but all the staff were really lovely and nothing was too much trouble for them Mr Toby Nelson who did my procedure has a lovely calming voice and I felt in very safe hands throughout. The lady who assisted him likewise was a really calming presence andcertainly assisted in making me feel more relaxed. Can whole heartedly recommend Wood Medispa. Beautiful surroundings and first class care. Thankyou all.

Feb 12,2025I am that impressed I’m sat in the hospital bed the morning after and I’m so happy even before I see the results because the surgeon James made it clear things can be altered if there is any problem. James is the kindest and gives you the feeling that he loves to make this difference he is going to make to your life and it’s what he loves coming to work and assures you he will do everything to make it the best results he possibly can. Everything about this place feels premium and 5 star to the service you get, the food, the kindness and the smiles. I don’t feel like I could be in better hands so impressed. Jan 03,2025I was lucky enough to have James McDiarmid operate on me for my first breast augmentation some 20 years ago. My experience then was first class which is why I decided to track James down for my replacement breast augmentation. With the help of Google I quickly learned that James had realised his dreams by opening Wood MediSpa Private Hospital. I contacted James, and he quickly replied saying he would be "very happy to help". I had a face-to-face consultation with James at Wood MediSpa. The hospital was jaw droppingly beautiful and the staff I met during my initial visit were all very kind and friendly. James as always was the perfect gentleman, and he took time to discuss with me all my options. I was shocked that he even had access to my notes from 20 years ago. James and I decided on the course of action, and I booked my surgery date. On the day of my surgery, I arrived at 7:30 am I was shown to my lovely private room and Holly and Zoe introduced themselves. They are both a credit to Wood MediSpa, and the care I received from them was exemplary. I was incredibly nervous, but they both put my mind at ease. I was shown the menu for my meals during my stay, and it felt as if I was reading a menu from a Michelin star restaurant. The food options were beautifully worded and beautifully presented. Please take time to read the history of the estate of Wood MediSpa in the back of the menu it is very interesting. The anaesthetist introduced himself to me and James came and visited me prior to my surgery to recap on everything we had discussed during the initial consultation and to draw on me etc. I was taken down to theatre by a lovely man and all the staff in the theatre were friendly and made me feel instantly at ease. The surgery all went as planned and as I came round from my general anaesthetic, I was greeted by James' lovely face reassuring me that all had gone well. I was taken back to my private room where I was cared for by Holly and Zoe (Zoe made the best tea). I never once felt like I had been left too long or that I needed to ask for anything as both Holly and Zoe pre-empted everything I would need. I also had a lovely lady called Natalie who cared for me during the night, and she was also amazing. The morning after I was suffering from a little nausea and was quickly given something to ease this. I had a wonderful breakfast and managed to get myself up and dressed before my discharge. James came to the ward early that morning to check in on me and to give me details on my aftercare etc. You are sent home with a lovely bag with everything you need to aid your recovery. I am now two and a half weeks post-surgery, and I am delighted with the results. I have followed James' instructions regarding my aftercare and recovery and feel that I am progressing nicely. Once again this has been made easy with the ongoing support I have received from James and his team. I think my review shows that going for surgery at Wood MediSpa is a whole new experience and one that I feel very privileged to have had. I know providing surgery and aftercare in this way has been a lifelong dream of James’ and he's endured several challenges along the way to achieve this. I would imagine that when he sits back and looks at what he has now accomplished at Wood MediSpa it has all been worthwhile. Thank you to James and his amazing team for making my whole experience at Wood MediSpa feel like a magical one.

I am very pleased and very grateful to Dr. Al-Nuaimi who prescribed a treatment that, after a matter of weeks, has entirely relieved my symptoms. Nov 28,20245 star treatment from arrival to leaving. All staff are very friendly and helpful, our ensuite room (my husband stayed over) for 2 nights had everything we needed - toiletries, dressing gowns and lovely towels. Beverages are available 24 hrs, and the food menu is 5*. My surgeon James Mcdiarmid is fantastic. He explained everything in detail and answered my long list of questions. He put me at ease, and I knew I was in safe hands. Prior to surgery the anesthetist and staff involved in my treatment and care visited me to explain their roles. Not once did I feel apprehensive. I was well informed and happy to proceed. My surgery went brilliantly. I can't tell you how very happy I am. My body was a mess following the side effects of gruelling cancer treatment and my surgery by James and his team have given me my confidence and life back. I can't thank them enough. The aftercare is 2nd to none. I was discharged with medication, dressings and all the information I need for recovery, and I've had check ups and regular phone calls to see if I need anything. I can't fault anything. 5* surgery, 5* recovery, 5* result. I would not go anywhere else and I am planning a little treat just for me in 2025. Thank you so much xx

Oct 31,2024The whole experience at Wood Medispa has been absolutely fantastic. I am 3 weeks post surgery, I had a FDL tummy tuck and thigh lift with the magician that is James McDiarmid. Even though James is at the top of his game he is so lovely and down to earth and really cares for all his patients. The facilities are next to none all the staff are so attentive and everyone puts you at ease. It really is like staying in a 5* hotel the food is 10/10. I would highly recommend Wood Medispa.

There is nobody else I would trust like him, his work is just miraculous and he genuinely cares about getting the very best results. His team at Wood are also some of the nicest people I’ve ever met, and the nurses in particular Zoe & Holly are just outstanding. I’m glad I got to spend 2 nights here as I wasn’t in any rush to go home. What James has achieved in the years I’ve known him is just mind blowing. He followed his dreams, never gave up and made Wood MediSpa a reality. The place is amazing. I could honestly not think of one single negative point, nor would I even consider surgery elsewhere. Oct 12,2024What a fantastic and personal experience at wood medispa. From initial enquiry to after care and follow ups. Nurses were on hand during my visit and also on the phone after…offering a range of options to help with my query. The grounds of the hospital are amazing, the rooms are hotel standard and the food on offer during my stay was 5 star in itself. My surgery was explained fully, well communicated to me and follow ups done in a timely manner to suit my schedule. All interactions with staff were positive and everyone there was kind and thoughtful.

Oct 03,2024I’m writing this review after my third stay at Wood Medispa, and I can honestly say it’s been an incredible journey. James McDiarmid and his team have done an absolutely phenomenal job with my transformation. Each procedure has exceeded my expectations, and I’m thrilled with the results. My most recent 2-night stay was just as wonderful as the previous ones. The entire team was incredibly caring and attentive, making me feel completely at ease. The food was delicious, as always, and I was so well taken care of. One of the things I love about Wood Medispa is the beautiful surroundings. I spent a little time wandering through the gardens on my second afternoon, which are simply stunning. It was also lovely to see the progress of the vegetable garden and its companion planting from my room window. Such a great asset to Wood, knowing that we are being fed the very best veg straight from the garden! I can’t recommend Wood Medispa highly enough. If you’re considering any cosmetic procedures, this is the place to go.

Wood had some incredible reviews, from the moment after my first consultation with James I knew it was the place I would choose. I am now 5 weeks post op, the care and consideration I have received while there for the two nights and all of that post op have been phenomenal. The staff are absolutely incredible and nothing is ever too much trouble, with their understanding nature to their prompt responses with any questions or queries. You absolutely get what you pay for and I wouldn’t hesitate to come back or recommend to anyone.

Sep 18,2024Outstanding care and treatment from the moment I arrived. I was nervous as I usually am in a medical environment, but this hospital is very different to others. It is tranquil and very professionally run by kind staff. I felt very reassured by all; reception, the nurses, the op team, and of course James. The food is nourishing and delicious, too which is an absolute bonus. The grounds are beautiful and lovely for relaxing in. If you are considering Wood, I can highly recommend. The experience is incredible. Thank you, Wood team!

James was reassuring from the consultation to now after having a couple of complications post surgery (now 4 weeks post op breast lift with implants and healing well). I am so happy with the results and can’t wait to see the final result months down the line. My experience at the hospital was amazing, especially Holly made this the best experience as she was so kind and really put me at ease! Zoe has been there to help me with my questions and help with my healing literally whenever I need her. I can’t thank her enough. Definitely choose Wood if you can!

The care and attention to detail of the whole experience has (and still is) incredible as I’m still having follow up checks. His care and diligence is second to none whilst offering the best advice to give results that are amazing. James mcdiarmid was recommended by a close friend of mine, and I can honestly say that I wish I’d had this surgery sooner as the results and after care are simply Phenomenal. If I could give more stars for this experience I would. I knew I would be happier after the surgery, but the results have left me delighted and given me so much more confidence. I’ll be forever grateful to James and his team.
