Feb 22,2025This is the second time I have been on this trip to DC (1st time we took the bus all the way, this time we flew). I thoroughly enjoy the many places we get to see in such a short time and being able to ride in a coach bus & have a tour guide. That being said, this trip was much less efficient in utilizing our time appropriately. For example, we drove out to the Army Museum only to have 30 min there before they closed?!? We also drove 45 min to have pizza for lunch before driving over another 30 min to the airport to leave? Our last trip seemed to utilize box lunches on the bus more. This allowed for us to rest & eat while getting to our next destination instead of spending an hour & a half round trip to have a sub-par meal. Dinner the first night was BBQ and Mac & Cheese on the thinnest white paper plates possible (which of course led to a spill or two by 8th grade boys). As far as food, I don’t expect fancy but I do expect decent, efficient and enough for our students to feel nourished to get through these busy days. And if a place is not available nearby to accommodate us then catered lunch boxes are a better option. Also, while our tour guide was friendly & somewhat knowledgable, he lacked in truly preparing the group for timing of events (ie: instead of ‘we’re heading to lunch’ say ‘use the restroom here if needed because it will take us 45 min to get to lunch’). Overall very grateful for the experience but there is room to improve the planning of the itinerary to be more efficient and spend more time enjoy the stops, not wasting that time in transit. The places to eat need reconsideration too. One day our students got a $15 voucher to eat at the Air & Space museum. For those who chose to order a sandwich, that was all they could afford. Others chose $8 milkshakes & had to wait until dinner for 1 chicken breast in order to get some protein and they weren’t allowed 2nd helpings. If food can’t be included then exclude it from the cost and plan for the group to stop places that we pay for on our own. Last trip we stopped at multiple buffets for dinner & that was both enjoyable & efficient. Hopefully those can be utilized again more for future trips.

Feb 21,2025Sofia was disappointed by how disorganized the trip was. This trip was planned in advance so why weren’t tickets purchased in advance? During day 1, they were initially going to visit a garden the first day but were told that they would do a bioluminescence boat trip instead. However, they were told that they could not do the bioluminescence trip because they couldn’t get the tickets in time. Next, they drove for 1 hour to a village and once they arrived learned that there were tickets available so stayed 5 minutes and had to drive another hour back. Finally, they were unable to return to their rooms until 11pm each night and had to unpack, prepare their day packs for the next day, take turns showering and still get up by 6am the next day so it was impossible to get more than 6 hours of sleep each night. That is not good for teenagers when all studies show they need 8 or more hours of sleep. She came home extremely tired because her flight didn’t land until 11pm. She was falling asleep in class the next day and with how busy the school week is, the Mexico trip only made her more tired. I recommend not jam packing the day and allowing the kids to have at least 9-10 hours at night to shower and sleep.

Feb 21,2025All was great! Worldstrides reps were wonderful and friendly. Hotel great and food fantastic. Only complaint was restaurant wait times were very long. One was a three hour dinner, another two and a half hour. Preorder would be better and more efficient for group dinners.

Feb 21,2025It was a great introduction to what to expect on our first tour with World Strides this May. From the arrival at the airport, to the help with getting into our rooms, we all felt welcomed from the get go. Our amazing and knowledgeable Tour Leader gave us so many facts, hints and tips to have a wonderful trip. All the World Strides employees were beyond helpful. What a fun way to get some experience before adventuring with our students. Thanks for a great weekend!

Feb 21,2025The flight both there and back were at unacceptable times. The flights should be straight through and students should not be returning home at 1:00am. Several students from other districts went on this trip as the same time as Woodlawn and had normal travel plans.

The information she passed along to us was very interesting and well-researched. The places we visited were so important to the history of our nation.

Feb 21,2025Overall, this was a very positive trip to Paris, connecting with other teachers from the US and Canada who are also hosting student travel tours through Explorica. The showers and temperature regulation was wanting at the hotel. There was too much time given for shopping and free time, considering the frigid weather.

Feb 20,2025Our Tour Director, Arturo, was AMAZING! He is so friendly, warm, and welcoming. He's also full of vast amounts of knowledge and could answer every question thrown at him. He was great! Merida was great! Chiche'n Itza' was, gosh, I don't even know if there's an appropriate word. Awe-inspiring would be close. The people of Mexico have never been anything but welcoming. They are so kind and humble. I love Mexico and its people. The hotel was lovely. Breakfasts including yummy Cochinita Pibil DAILY!!! and fresh juices. SO GOOD!!!!! The bus driver, Sergio, my gosh......MAD SKILLS driving that big ol' bus on those tiny streets, PROPS!!!

Feb 22,2025Our trip was flawlessly planned, thanks to the incredible efforts of Jenn K. She took our initial requests and, with her expertise, crafted a fantastic itinerary that exceeded our expectations. Once we arrived, World Strides had every detail seamlessly arranged—from a friendly airport agent greeting us upon arrival to helpful hotel representatives ensuring a smooth check-in. The guides were all exceptional, but a special shoutout goes to Josh, who went above and beyond. When unexpected weather changes forced us to arrive in D.C. a day early, Josh took an earlier flight to meet us and personally helped adjust the itinerary to make the most of our extra time. His knowledge, enthusiasm, and ability to engage the children made the experience truly unforgettable. The only minor hiccup was a delayed airport pickup due to the charter company, but World Strides was proactive in resolving the issue. Overall, this was an outstanding, A+ experience!
