Have just passed my theory and practical test first time after learning with 5day.co.uk in Bury St Edmunds and it was a brilliant experience. My instructor Lindzee was top class, showing patience and kindness throughout - I cannot recommend her and the company enough! My practical test was booked within 2 weeks of finishing the course - amazing!
Excellent course and service, I would recommend to anyone looking to squeeze in learning to drive around a busy work schedule. Special thanks to my instructor Joe who was very patient, knowledgeable and managed to explain things in a way that made things nice and simple. I managed to pass first time, which I felt surprised at, but is testament to the good instructing.
My instructor Andy is the best. I have done my course with him and he managed to get me through the test and passed 1st time. don't bother to book a test with 5 days as I was waiting 7 month when I finally cancelled the test what I paid and get me own test. I only leave a 4 star review because Andy was an excellent instructor...
Just past my test with 5 day with a big thanks to Tristan Andrew who helped me past my test 1st time with no minors big thanks to Tristan
I passed my driving test first time! This course has made my confidence grow so much and having an amazing instructor James from Peterborough. Thank you
Nice and Concise as far as classroom side of things, and as for time on the road - James was an excellent instructor. Most of my shortfalls came down to me being me, and finding where my wall was.
I’ll start with my booking reference LE-WXMYG, considering I’ve seen other reviews replied to as not considered genuine without it. I attended a 5 day course 1/4 - 5/4 and couldn’t be more disgusted with my experience. Instructor was an hour late on the first day. The entire time I was being micromanaged and wasn’t allowed to freely learn. My instructor was incredibly concerned about her car throughout, never moved her foot away from the break so this stayed hovered the entire time and carried out dangerous manoeuvres when no intervention was necessary. You are provided with a score card from 1 to 5. As each day went by she ticked them off as 1, day 1. 2, day 2 and so on. on the Thursday I decided my partner and I would insure my car at home and see how I do without the instructors intervention. Within 10 minutes he realised I was swerving and constantly checking my mirrors. This is when he enlightened me you shouldn’t check mirrors for road positioning and use a reference on the dash board (instructor failed to teach me this) after being informed this I did absolutely fine. I informed the instructor on the Friday, my last day, my experience and if she could keep her foot off the break and trust me to drive independently. She instantly got defensive and rude. We then didn’t talk the rest of the day and I had to ask for feedback for the remaining. I decided to record my last hour due to her attitude being unacceptable. There were 45minutes of recorded evidence with 0 instruction and independent driving. At the end of the course she asked if I had any questions, I then proceeded to ask what would happen now. She replied I’d need further lessons with 0 feedback as to where my strong or week points were, what I needed practice with and disregarded the score card and left. I paid £1120, or £54 an hour and no where was the relevant value given. This money was just for the driving, no administrative duties included or theory as I passed myself a month prior. Majority of instructors are £36 - £39. Do not waste your time. I have rung to complain and was provided an email where they received a much more in-depth experience. I’ll be waiting the 7 days for a manager to respond and after this time, will be taking this further. As of right now, I feel like I just threw my money away and can’t begin to explain how sad I am with how much I saved up for this experience. I’ll also add, before someone replies to this review with the terms and conditions stating I should have rung during the course. I also had a bad experience with a very rude customer service advisor, prior to my driving. Due to the instructor being late, her making excuses up that there was standstill traffic (it was bank holiday and I had been driven up 40 minutes away 15 minutes prior, the roads were very quiet). I’m not confrontational and suffer with anxiety so this was off putting. Also when I did ring to put in a complaint or asked to speak to a manager this was disregarded and I was provided an email to express my concerns. **Edit to 5 day response** Your email was an appalling response, which you stated would be from management but instead was again, customer services. Neither of us was aggressive, that seems to be your response to every bad review. Your customer service advisor was ultimately rude and we didn’t rise to it in the ‘aggressive way’ you say. You lied and stated the driving instructor has dash cam footage. Not only did she not, as I had a conversation with her as to why out of curiosity and she stated if a learner was to crash the insurance company knows who’s liable. Even if she did, she broke the law on not telling a pupil they are being recorded. You also stated I can not have the footage as requested to take you to small claims, as this is against GDPR. However, if you knew the law you would know dash cams do not come under GDPR and can be requested by anyone who may be on dash cam recordings. Since I have your confession of these in email, they will help my case against you and the instructor, thank you. You also didn’t even respond to half of my complaint with very little sympathy considering the detail of your driving instructors poor ability and disgusting behaviour. Just because someone is DVSA registered a decade ago does not mean they are suitable for the job.
I booked this for my daughter , my son had done the course few years before. The instructor was fantastic. But thought all drivers worked for 5 day, but clearly they are just subbed in from all the cars outside. The communication from 5 day is not good at all, bordering on rude infact! with the fact there is no bonus to getting a faster test, along with the extortionate cost, i would say there are better intensives out there for the money. I have since found ones with same amount of driving for half the cost! Look around more i wish i had , all in all poor value for what you get , 5 hours a day sat in a 'grotty' class room !
I did my course in Norwich Donnie was my instructor he was very patient and calm. He gave me the confidence to pass my driving test. I highly recommend 5day and if you could request Donnie, he is amazing…. Perseverance
I decided to take 5day lessons as I have tried to drive a few times in the past and hadn't really taken to it. Then as I got older it wasn't a skill I thought I would manage because the thought of driving made me so anxious. I knew confidence and anxiety were big issues for me. So I figured 5day was a good way to go, given the immersive nature of the course. The team are so friendly and helpful, everyone I came across was genuinely lovely and answered all my questions, no matter how stupid I thought they were. Special thanks to Donnie Pegg. Literally the most patient man, he was so calm all the time, he pushed me when I needed it and gave me the confidence I was lacking. He explained everything in a clear way so I could understand and corrected the mistakes I made (sometimes repeatedly). He put me at ease and made me laugh and I started to enjoy driving and it wasn't some massive obstacle that I thought I would never overcome. I passed my test the first time with 2 minors. I can not thank him enough. I would 100% recommend Donnie and the team at 5day.
i loved my week at 5 day Peterborough james was a great instructor he made me feel confident and comfortable with my driving would recommend james to any other new driver:)
Booked practical only as I'd already done the theory test myself. James in Peterborough is a great instructor, and deserves 5 stars. The 4 star rating is down to a few administrative points with 5day as a company, including: - clunky comms, - "fast track" test booking didn't feel so fast. As a driver with some years of experience needing to pass the UK test, this is the main reason I paid over the odds for 5day. I finished the driving practical end-Sept and got a test for 8 December. - Very expensive retest cost for "renting" the 5day instructor's car, which price is nowhere in the fine print. - The "fast track" booking for the retest also felt quite slow.
I loved my week at 5day Peterborough, my instructor James made me feel at ease and listened to all my worries while giving me advice and comfort with these. I learnt a lot and gained so much confidence. James has an amazing sense of humour and helped me reach my full potential.
I had a great week with 5day Peterborough. James and Aaron were fantastic and l really appreciate their support. They were professional and kind throughout as l struggled to grasp a lot of things. I highly recommend the 5day team.
Did the 5 day course in Chelmsford and had a very good teacher named Glenn he helped me through the week with my theory and understanding of the roads. Very good
My instructor john Pearce was fantastic really calm and explained everything really well I passed first time and highly recommend him and 5day 🙂
I would highly recommend 5day. My experience was great. The theory teaching did feel like it dragged a little, but I think this had more to do with the content, but it fully prepared me for the theory test where I got 50/50 on the questions and 66/75 on hazard perception! The practical driving side was amazing, my instructor (John Pearce - Bristol) was the best. Really supportive, helpful and professional throughout, getting me to the point where I passed the practical test first time comfortably. As well as all this, got to rate how fast I went through it all. Personally I wasn’t practical test ready at the end of the week, but that was more to do with me than the teaching quality. From the start of the week to passing my practical test was about 6 weeks, which is still great. All in all I’m proper happy!!
Very odd and aggressive driving instructors. Was a passenger in a car following them with no issues at a safe distance and clearly the instructor was driving and he started aggressively shouting something at me through the closed when we were in the next lane at a roundabout. Peculiar behaviour not a great example
My instructor Mo was fantastic really calm and explained everything really well I passed first time and highly recommend him

May 17,2024Passed my practical test yesterday (first time) and it’s all thanks to James from Peterborough. I can’t recommend this guy enough. I was so nervous and he reassured me and got in my head that i could do it. If you’re thinking about doing a course James is your guy.
