Alexandria’s mission is to make libraries as important today as they were 40 years ago. Libraries are not “dead” and will never be. Our goal is to give librarians the tools to share and promote their resources. The first version of Alexandria was released in 1990. Alexandria itself has continued to be updated and enhanced for over 20 years, which is pretty amazing in the technology and software industry.
Alexandria is intuitive, quick, and simple to teach to staff. The generated reports are amazing and very useful for collection evaluation. Customer help/service has always been very responsive.
Compared to other Library software I have used in the past Alexandria is much more user friendly. Their support staff the few times we have needed it are very helpful and knowledgeable.
Students are able to use Alexandria with ease.
I have used the Alexandria Program for at least 10 years now. I think it is an excellent program for a reasonable price. It has many features, so many, that I have to call Tech to remember how to use them all. I would recommend it to smaller schools that may have issues with monies available for Technology in Libraries. If there was one thing I would change, it would be that training for updates would be free.;) Or that it would be a webinar that people could access on their own time.
I've been using Alexandria Library Software for eight years in my school library. For the most part, is uncomplicated to learn and use. There are so many applications available from this software! I would like to have more training, though, such as tutorials for different applications.
Alexandria is a great program for our school library. The tech support is very helpful and there is no question they won't help you with. We are very pleased with the way the program runs and the support we get from Alexandria.
This program is well used at our school and very easy to use by our librarian. It has created an accountability system in our school library and allows us to catalog our books.
I have been using the Alexandria Library Automation Software for 4 years and have not had any problems with it and it is fairly easy to use.
I called into the Alexandria service department with a few concerns. I was treated well and the customer service agent was very helpful and patient. She helped me through each step and worked with me on every concern I had. She was even open to suggestions on how to make the program better.
Overall good, I wish reports were easier to put together. There are some stats I'd like to run that aren't available.
I have used Alexandria for 7 years and they have consistently provided not only a great library software program but also excellent customer service. Every phone call that I have made to get help has been answered by a very polite, knowledgeable person who has always been able to provide an accurate answer to my question(s.) I would be glad to highly recommend this product and this company.
Whenever I have a problem, I can always call their help desk and they are very helpful walking me through whatever process I need.
I really like Alexandria Library. The only part I really don't have figured out is being able to let the whole school use the card catalog. I need to know the password or set up for finding out if the library has information without using my main computer.
I previously had no experience with an automated library system. I did work with a stamp pad and date when I was in school to help out my librarian. With Alexandria Library System you get so much more! I really enjoy customizing the system to work in my library. Talk about customer service, when I do have a quick question the answer is only a phone call away. I always hang up with a great knowledge provided by their customer service. I get my questions answered and so much more. Thanks for the great support! I would highly recommend Alexandria Library System!
I honestly think there is no better way to check out books. Alexandria Library is hands down very quick and responsive. Their customer support is always there to help when you need quick solutions. I would most definitely recommend this to a colleague!
Alexandria library supports everything you need in a library automation system. Over the years it has grown in a great system. Unfortunately it is the most Intuitive or user friendly. The website hasn't been helpful but is going through a upgrade as well. Luckily Alexandria technical help is a huge help. They are always available, patient, and ready to walk you through different steps to solve a problem. I see a bright future for this program.
I have been using Alex for going on 14 years. First, I just don't think you will beat their tech support. I call them 2 or 3 times a year with a question or problem and they are incredibly helpful. Most problems incur is because of the out of date technology I am using at my school. Sometimes I need help with finding the right report. Whatever the issue, tech support is there. Second, Alex is user friendly. I have volunteers come to help in the library. It is simple to show them how to navigate around for basic checking in and out, to find items, or to look up a patron. If I had a change to make, and I may be missing it somewhere, is I would like a section under reports you could save your most used reports. I don't know if that is a possibility, but it would be something that could be useful.
This is one of the easiest software programs for libraries. Their 24/7 support is fantastic. Every time I've had to use it I've received quick and professional help.
I'm impressed with the level of customer support available through multiple assistance channels (e-mail, online chat, troubleshooting faqs).

Oct 13,2016While the customer service is excellent, the product is not intuitive, is lacking a quality search function and lacking integration with other technologies (Overdrive, databases, etc.). There is a lot of manual inputting.
