Alexandria’s mission is to make libraries as important today as they were 40 years ago. Libraries are not “dead” and will never be. Our goal is to give librarians the tools to share and promote their resources. The first version of Alexandria was released in 1990. Alexandria itself has continued to be updated and enhanced for over 20 years, which is pretty amazing in the technology and software industry.

Oct 12,2016I was using Destiny at my prior library and have not been that excited about Alexandria. The reports are not nearly as easy to get and some things are just downright confusing. It could use some work to make it more user friendly.

Including a panel of librarians to facilitate with new versions might mitigate some of the problems (why do I have to click the Renew tab to see what books a child has signed out??, why are books called "items"?)

Oct 12,2016Any issues you have, they work hard to help resolve them. You rarely have any wait time when you call, that's big! The program is very easy to use and the company continually adds new features. I wouldn't consider any other program.

Several years ago our school district considered other software options but decided to stay with Alexandria due to the excellent service they have provided us.

Oct 12,2016I love that Alexandria seems to always run perfectly and that whenever I need help with anything I can just call technical support. The only thing I don't love is the $799 a year that I have to pay to keep my licence up to date! That is a lot to pay for many of our schools that are so underfunded.

Oct 12,2016I would have given them 5 stars but I have had some trouble with mixed up orders, but despite all that I would recommend them without reservation simply because of their Tech Support. They are the best by far of any company i have ever dealt with.

Oct 12,2016I have only been using Alexandria for two years, but have had an excellent experience with them. Before this program, I used Horizon for over ten years. The transition was pretty seemless, considering how different the systems are. I am still learning new tricks for Alexandria, but the limited interaction I've had with the customer service representatives has been very productive. (I usually just look up the query in the book. I can't say the online help tabs are my favorite.) My biggest complaint deals with adding new books manually, simply in that not all ISBNs are recognized. Over all, I would recommend Alexandria to other schools.

Oct 12,2016When I have an issue, or question about anything, a knowledgeable REAL LIVE person is available to help. I also appreciate the seamless updates. Report options are numerous and useful. As a high school, we love the email feature for notifying students of holds, overdue books, and other charges. We have used Alexandria since we began automating our collection in1990. I have never seen anything that would make me change.

Oct 12,2016Alexandria has been a part of my life for over 20 years now. They continually strive to stay current with a librarian's needs which in turn makes our jobs easier. The technical support team is top-notch- I love them all. They are courteous and helpful and don't demean the user when there is a brain cramp and you can't remember how to do things. Although there is an online manual- sometimes the terminology of what you want doesn't match up with the index- thus the call to tech support. There is a wide variety of reports that can degenerated to answer most any administrators call and to see how your library is progressing. I would highly recommend this software and the Companion Corporation to anyone looking to get automated or to change to an easier automation system.

Oct 12,2016I have used Alexandria V5 for the past 5 years. It has been very user friendly. Tech support has always been helpful if I have needed them. The only drawback is not being able to access Alexandria and work from home. I am upgrading to the online version this year. So, working from home will now be an option.

Oct 12,2016A great small library software, Especially good with web hosting. The reports could be more flexible, and the search engine more intuitive, but more than acceptable for the price.
