Alexandria’s mission is to make libraries as important today as they were 40 years ago. Libraries are not “dead” and will never be. Our goal is to give librarians the tools to share and promote their resources. The first version of Alexandria was released in 1990. Alexandria itself has continued to be updated and enhanced for over 20 years, which is pretty amazing in the technology and software industry.

Oct 12,20161. Reports are extremely navigate to get what I want. I use to be able to pull sections of my inventory by call numbers, but with the "new imporved" version, it has made that very difficult...next to impossible to get a report on Non-Fiction sections. 2. Medium of items...HATE how you changed the medium to the official MARC record terms. Who wants to go back in the system and change 10,000 items to the official marc record medium...and what middle school kid is going to take the time to figure out what an unmediated text means. 3. Preferred being able to download the program to my computer...it has a lot less kinks when I used the program not straight thru a web browser! 4. New researcher...uggg! Not user friendly for the kids. There are many more steps that you have to click to find information on the book, when in the last version, you just click one time on the book and it gave you ALL the information on you page instead of clicking on different things many times. 5. Had to buy a new receipt printer...when my old one worked just fine but didn't have the capability of an IP address...that was not in my budget for this year so some of my really needed things for the library this year, I will no longer get b/c of having to buy a printer that was unneeded!!! Those are my top 5 disapointments!

Oct 12,2016The customer service representatives are very knowledgable and are always available to answer any questions I have. There are reports for everything I need. This library automation software makes my job so much easier.

Oct 12,2016Students as well as faculty have an easy time searching and selecting a book. I, the librarian, can maneuver throughout Alexandria with little difficulty. The commands are clear and direct.

Oct 12,2016I have had little experience with Library Automation software but Alexandria has made it easy for me every step of the way. Their support staff/service is top notch. With little computer expertise, they are able to walk me through every concern. I would highly recommend it.

Oct 12,2016The only real issue is how we upload our student information into your system. This may actually not be an issue on your end but on ours. It is a difficult process to download our student information from Powerschool, to upload it into your software. I have not tried to do some things with the upgrade we now have, but in the past, I had issues with getting statistics on student usage. Last school year, I wanted the stats for 2 years on how many books some of my students check out. I did that at the beginning of last school year, then at the end of the school year. Some of the student information for the prior school year, that should not have changed, did change.

Oct 12,2016We have used Alexandria in our district for the last 5 years. We find the system to be reliable & user friendly. Our student workers have no trouble using it effectively and accurately. We have also called the tech support or customer service people on a regular basis for different issues or questions and have always received the help we needed in a pleasant, timely fashion.

Oct 12,2016i do not have any trouble with our Alexandria system. It is very efficient for our needs. I have needed customer service a few times over the last couple of years, mostly for beginning and ending of year. They have been very helpful and have always solved my problems.

Oct 12,2016I have used Alexandria Automation Software in 2 school libraries now, and it has overall been a positive experience. You get a robust program for the price, and the software does anything you would need in a library. However, it is not always intuitive, and even after 2 years I still feel like I am learning things about the software. I use the self-check out interface in my school, and that is very clear for people to use, even young children. I also think that running reports and utilities is very easy using Alexandria and saves significant amounts of time. Overall, I would recommend Alexandria to other school libraries, especially those who are looking for a lower-cost option.

Oct 12,2016I have always been able to use Alexandria with ease. Every once in a while, when I search a book in the catalog, the book does not come up. However, this is an item that I am positive we have in the collection. The search could be improved upon. Overall, I am happy with the product.

Oct 12,2016I inherited my library system, and have upgraded some of the features to make it better suited to my students' needs. Overall, I think it is very easy to use, once you learn it. Some of the features (i.e. reports, utilities, etc) require no learning curve, while others you need to think like a programmer to get it do do what you want. I like the web interface availability, though some features are only available through a data station and not through the interface. There are some things I wish I could customize, but for the cost of the program, it mostly does everything I need.
