I’m really quite surprised reading through some of these negative reviews. Amigo was there for me a few years back to get me out of a sticky situation financially when the banks wouldn’t help. A family friend has recently been in a similar situation to that of mine but unfortunately he went to a loan shark which turned in to a nightmare, his dog was killed and they threatened his family would be next if he missed another payment. As much as I can see payday lenders as being greedy they are certainly not dangerous criminals.
Vote big fat no to a scheme that’s not backed by the FCA as stated in the letter sent to the court's, do do us a favour tell your employee's to stop leaving fake reviews! Amigo are desperate reported my review as amigo say I’m not a customer! Funny that when my agreement number is on a previous review dated February I think....... my agreement number 38703365 but if I’m no longer a customer of amigo loans happy days and I’ve got it in writing Trust pilot poor performance, sending me email when if you looked at my previous reviews you would have known I was a customer just like amigo do when they used your platform to address my previous statements THE FCA SENT A LETTER TO THE COURTS SAYING THAT IT DOSE NOT AGREE WITH THE SCHEME AS IT IS NOT SERVING THE BEST INTERESTS OF ITS CUSTOMERS FACT! IF TRUST PILOT WOULD ALLOW ME TO PUT A COPY UP I WOULD! Trust pilot do better Amigo good luck as no means no
I voted no because Sara at debt camel told me that i would get more money in an insolvency. However i have just had a read through the scheme website www amigoscheme co uk/docs/EstimatedOutcomeStatement.pdf On there the figures say that secured creditors rank before us in an insolvency and the bondholders and secured creditors will get 80%+ of their money back but there will be nothing left over to pay us. Is there any way i can change my mind and vote yes? Thats the only way i see us getting anything.
We need to take some personal responsibility folks. We took out the loan, no one forced us to. If we couldn’t afford it we shouldn’t have signed on the dotted line. Vote yes. Free money. Easy to blame others for our own mistakes and money mismanagement. Voting No doesn’t mean you won’t have to pay it back. Make sure you know the facts before you vote.
I got my initial loan with AMIGO to help start my small business which was ticking along nicely pre COVID. Apparently the loan shouldn’t have been affordable to me so was advised I should put in a claim. I’ve always found the company helpful and will be submitting my YES please to money vote this week. Every little counts and will help towards my little business as I grow over the next few years.
im going to give you a piece of advice here that will change your life ... first of all vote YES .... then with your compensation buy Amigo shares ... right now the share price is 15p , 2 yrs ago it was £2.70 a share , and there is no reason why it cant go back up there if Amigo start lending again . if you get £300 compensation , in 2yrs that will be £5000 minimum .. especially with people wanting to borrow money after the pandemic is over . Its so easy to buy shares now , download any trading app and buy them through that , the app is free , buying them is zero commission , and it takes 5 minutes to set up .Or what’s your alternative .. vote no and miss out on £5 grand .. be smart for once ... vote YES , buy shares , and enjoy your money .
According to the 3rd party auditors (PwC), if I vote no then there is nothing left to pay me so of course I’m going to vote YES.
FCA didn’t take action because they know in insolvency, we would get nothing. PWC have also confirmed this. Therefore the high court has granted the vote. I am not happy that compensation is capped but it’s better to receive something back than nothing.
For those voting no you do realise that you still have to pay back your loan and not be entitled to any compensation. Great company, very good customer service. I for one will be voting YES! Why would you vote NO and get Nowt??? Not wise.
Always had a helpful service from AMIGO so can’t knock them on that, I got told I could claim back money from them and worth a try to make a claim, then all this bother came about. I will be definitely be voting YES to get some money over NO and get no money! I have things to buy now we’re allowed to do things again and that will help towards my holiday next year (fingers crossed we can book one then) Bonus!
I took out the loan to cover a few extra bills, im struggling to pay it back, but managing. now if I vote YES and it goes through I will get SOME money back, if I vote NO i get nothing and still have to pay what i owe back (Even if they go into administration. Simple for me. YES YES YES
They have to assess your claim and probably won’t uphold some valid claims, but you won’t then be allowed to go to the financial ombudsman to complain. They are an unethical lender and deserve to sink. Most people would only get a tiny repayment anyway, whereas investors get more. If they go into administration, it’s up to the ombudsman who’s complaints get upheld rather than Amigo. That sucks for customers who have already paid back because there won’t be a pot of money to compensate them, but existing customers can get their balance reduced, and as already stated is Amigo really going to approve many claims anyway?
Just voted yes. Simple really. Vote no and you get nothing. My friend thought if he voted no he wouldn't have to pay back loan. Now hes found out he'll still have to pay it back and he'll get no compensation. Its a no brainer to me and now him. Thats why I voted yes.
The vote Even when speaking to the ombudsman, they said the only people who will benefit from voting yes will be the shareholders! Vote No!
Can’t understand what all gurning is all about to be honest, you get a loan you pay it back, you knew the interest rate and your monthly figure you had to pay back, quite happy to receive the loan in your account and apparently it’s the lenders fault you can’t pay it back 🙄🙄🙄 Bored with reading all your crap and your whinging this last few months....you get a loan, you agree to it, you get it paid into your account and you pay it back....simples 😴
I’ll not be voting yes on the scheme the company is a joke has completely ruined my life I’ve now stopped paying my loan as I’m waiting for my complaint to be felt with bearing in mind I should be owed thousands but with this scheme there expecting to pay out a few hundred absolut joke !!! Vote know you’ll get what your owed at some stage vote yes you’ll b lucky to get a few hundred an could b waiting a few years on it go bust leave people alone !!!
I don’t know what all the negativity here is about. Seems to me that Amigo mis-sold to a small percentage of people who are rightly owed and will revive redress with the proposed scheme. I required a small bridge loan at a point in time when a bank wasn’t a viable option and Amigo gladly helped. I checked my own affordability at the time (people are quick to pass the blame where common sense and accountability would go a long way) and the rate offered by Amigo was fair and welcomed. I hope they are able to continue lending so others can receive the same help that I did.
Why would people vote.. talk about cut your nose off to spite your face!! Yes I’d rather get SOMETHING rather than nothing! Too many people on here rallying behind debt camel who is totally misinformed and obviously had a personal agenda against Amigo!? What that going to get you, nothing! I want SOMETHING - so I WILL BE VOTING YES!!!
I want to object to the amigo scheme which is unfair and to the voting arrangements and the misleading way they have been communicating with customers. My original loan was for £1000. After being refused credit elsewhere I came across amigo loans who were more then happy to provide with my partner being my guarantor. After around 10 months I topped the loan up and quickly fell into amigos trap. Before I knew it I had been given multiple top ups to maxed £10,000. This was originally to get more funds after being completely out of pocket from paying the high monthly payments. I should of known what I was getting myself into but with extreme money worries and my mental health suffering as a result I wasn't thinking clearly and my partner was worried about my state of mind and doing what she thought was best for me at the time. During the time with amigo loans I was taking out multiple payday loans to make it through each month which obviously wasn't helping me financially for the following months. After months and months of declining mental health and extremely high monthly payments my partner suggested she took out a separate loan in her name with a very low percentage of interest so that I could clear the balance of the amigo loan and save ourselves from the ridiculous interest rates of amigo. I'm still paying this loan off now through my partner so I am still suffering with this now. I complained in December as soon as heard about affordability complaints, hopeful that this would get things moving and I would get back what I feel I deserve and that I'm owed. Amigo did no checks just made it easy to get top ups when I was short of money because of their loan. Not a day goes by where I dont worry about and regret passed financial decisions and in a way I only have myself to blame but this has stopped me from buying a house and completely ruined me financially and I feel amigo are to blame for that. Under no circumstances should I off received the amount of money they had loaned as it was completely unaffordable. Now with this scheme looking likely I'm very doubtful I will get anything much. Its extremely unfair that previous complaints have seen thousands back that they are owed but people like me will only see a small percentage. If we hadnt taken a loan to pay this off I would have been at least able to get the balance much reduced or cleared. Now I am stuck with this loan and will only get a tiny amount. There is a huge difference between what people with loans will get back compared to people like me. They will get some good from this scheme, I am left with my other loan and will get a tiny amount. We dont have the same interests at all. How can we be asked to vote as a group when they will get the most important thing, the amigo loan gone and previous borrowers get almost nothing? We should be separate voting groups as this isnt fair. Why if the balance reduction are smaller than the £85,000,000 is not all this money being put into the cash redress scheme? Amigo are just going to profit from this. If they turn down reductions to people with current loans all the money saved there should be given to the customers who have repaid their loans like me. Amigo has been making it sound like their scheme is the only option. This isnt true as the scheme could be much fairer. This is misleading and may mean some customers vote yes as they don't realise there could be a better option. Why are the bondholders going to get all their money back when some would lose some money if amigo went under, they should have to put some money into the scheme so customers get more. And who decided 15% of profits for just 4 years is fair, why not 25% and going on until customers are repaid in full or at least 80%. I dont trust their profit calculations as clever accountants could make them lower for 4 years. Shareholders shouldnt be able to get any dividends until customers have been repaid in full
