Amigo Loans is an awful company and I am really happy that they are getting a taste of their own medicine. I really hope people vote no and they go into insolvency as that is what they deserve after the way they have treated their customers. Amigo Loans almost led me to commit suicide due to how they was treating me after I missed / reduced payments due to financial difficulty. They did not care at all and found my declining mental health funny on the phone. They harassed me multiple times a day threatening me and causing me distress. They took me to court very quickly and refused all offers of repayment. Now they have got to pay back interest and charges and remove negative markers on my credit file however after months and months I’m still waiting. Well now I’m finding their declining company funny. I said to them years ago when they did all this to me that I hope you go bust because you are awful and now it’s happening and nothing more than they deserve 😁. KARMA However I am sorry to the very small number of staff that are probably really nice who may end up losing employment but to the rest I am glad.

Seems to be lots of made up so called polite replies from amigo here, but funnily enough no reply what so ever to my serious complaints dating back to august 2019!! Hope they can stand up to this in court. You have been ‘looking into it’ for over 18 months now so how about reviewing this case individually! You have my details and agreement number so deal with it and stop thinking it will just go away.

vote no! The plan is to raise your interest once all this façade is finalized! Don't let yourself buy with some pennies! Do not be financial illiterate! You can attain richness from debt! Get justice back! Because if was the other way round you wouldn't be forgiven! You would have debt collectors draining the life out of you! And you please check your agreements as I believe their interest calculations require reviewing! Not to.mention the luring system without credit checks!!!! I want you all users to search about! USURY! Understand it! Read and learn and save yourself from loansharks. This my second review as I deleted the 1st by mistake. Don't fall for the good guy reply! They do not care about you! Stop people from making the same mistake! As you did! Be the difference!

If I could rate -5 I would. Had a change of income when my mum was diagnosed with terminal cancer and had to ask them to allow me to reduce payments by £30 a month in the meantime. Was absolutely hounded for the who's what's and its. Bombarded with calls, texts and emails telling me to explain in great detail again and again my situation. Absolutely disgusted with this company and their lack of empathy and understanding. Not to mention the extortionate interest they applied during this time. Was paying £150 a month and £139 of that was clearing the interest only. WORSE THAN LOAN SHARKS AND BLOOD HUNGRY FOR MONEY , DONT CARE WHAT YOUR GOING THROUGH. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!!

Used Amigo in the past had no problems. I needed a loan, they provided the loan, I knew the interest, I made the payments and that was it... I was desperate but the loan helped me a lot and without it I would have been in a much worse position. I think people to be on here and publicly sharing the fact they should not have been entitiled to a loan because of things like gambling addiction and then blaming Amigo is totally wrong and disguting, and people should be ashamed of themselves for risking the future of a company that was simply providing a service as well as putting 500 jobs on the line during such a terrible time. People should admit that they are responsible for their actions. Amigo DID NOT tell them to call and ask for a loan, they made that choice. In terms of the Scheme, I think if people really want a chance of getting back compensation they need to vote on allowing Amigo to do this. The Money Shop and Wonga, both fell into administration after they both tried to get a similar scheme over the line which failed. Ask any of these customers if they had compensation. The answer is No. It's so naive to think if the company falls to the Administrators people are going to be compensated. So many costs will need to be distributed before they even think of compensation. Compensation does not have a tangible value and so it will literally be if there is any money in the pot remaining that will pay for compensation. If people vote No to the scheme then all that tells me is nobody actually cares about receiving money back, they silently know they are in the wrong but just want to see yet another company in this country to collapse and are blaming them for their poor financial decisions. Disgusting if you ask me.

The 5 star ratings posted recently are very suspicious. As if people would remember some of the detail involved in some of those responses. Two titles say 'Vote yes - blahdiblah.' Amazing to think not only are staff replying to posts on here but are writing fake reviews too. I dont need a response from Amigo on here. I'm aware of the scheme already thanks Like so many I have had a complaint kicked down the road into the grasp of this scheme. 8 weeks then further 4 weeks with no response. Ombudsman dealing with it now. Some of the fake stories on here are all well and good, but I was a gambling addict up to my ears in debt, who shouldn't have been granted access to money. I'll be voting against the scheme as amigo should be punished for allowing credit to degenerate gamblers like me

Amigo really helped me in 2019 when I was booking a venue for my upcoming wedding but they needed the deposit upfront. Secured the first choice venue and was able to pay back the amount over 12 months rather than paying upfront. Was late on one payment somewhere in the middle but rather than go to my guarantor they just wrote to me and a special shout out to Jennifer who liased with me and got me back on track. Received a letter about the scheme coming up and i might be due compensation but I wouldn't take advantage of a company that helped me create my dream day for me and my wife. I hope they are back lending after covid to help many others like me who could not borrow from their banks, since my amigo loan my credit status has improved and I often get letters from my bank to lend me money. Thank you my little Mexican friends!

Regardless of one's feelings about Amigo Loans, the fact is, vote no and you get nothing, yet still have to repay the debt. Vote yes and you at least will receive some compensation (to perhaps use towards paying off the debt) after which, I'm sure you could move the debt to another loan provider, but suspect they will be a 'real' shark AND Amigo Loans has pledged money towards compensation pay outs over the next 4 years; this, I think is really pragmatic and sensible so you have a long term offer in which everyone will need to work to ensure the company does well and so YOU can be compensated not just now, but also over the next four years. I strongly advise you to be cautious of listening to the doom mongers as you are likely to cut off your nose to spite your face. And by the way I am NOT an employee of Amigo loans!!!

Your loan won’t get wiped if you vote no, your debt will just get taken on by the administrators and remain payable. Instead of getting some compensation you will get none. Food for thought. Regardless of what you think of the company it’s nonsensical to vote for something that gets you nothing? 100% yes from me

Actually everyone should vote for this scheme, nobody forced the money on you, you took it willingly. Loans will still need to be paid if they go bust. Why should 420 staff lose their jobs, when a scheme will benefit all. Amigo had to do something, the amount of false claims coming through was astounding. If you actually listen what’s on offer it’s fair to everyone. 15% of profits paid annually over 4 years and up to £35 million all shared between genuine claims. Nobody wins if they go bust, customers or their staff and families. The CEO Gary said in an interview on BBC four that some customers would have their loans written off and have compensation. I would vote yes as you will benefit from doing so. 🧐

Don't believe the nonsense about your loan being wiped if they go bust, you will still have to pay the same amount of debt as if you vote "Yes" just in future you'll have to go to your local loan shark (who doesn't accept claims by the way).

I would love to put a negative number next to that star cause that star still means that there is something good to your company. I took out a loan in 2018 as guarantor to my friend who was struggling to get by but I didn't want to and felt really uneasy to do it but I did it but it's been a nightmare. I don't even remember me sending them my work details before being approved the loan I got and I have been fighting to be removed from being a guarantor due to me having clinical depression and how it really does frighten me when I get bombarded with text and emails saying my friend hasn't paid. I have told them to stop messaging me as they give me anxiety and stress and also to stop emailing me with threats saying you will have to pay and it's like no I don't work with my friend before asking me to pay. The last I heard of my complaint being dealt with was October 2019 and not a word back since then I find it disgraceful and down right disgusting. I have been blocking their numbers due to harassment and as such will not be subject to dealing with this company anymore their attitude and behaviour is unacceptable. If there is a vote I will vote no and see you taken off the map of finance as you are a company that preys on the weak and the vulnerable which makes them even worse off. Had I the sense I do now I would have said no to taking out this loan even if it's for a friend or family member I would say no. This company only gives money out and then asks for large payments back. I have had rocky road to recovery with my mental illness and this company has never helped me and I have emails to prove it and me saying that they must stop messaging me with sooo many texts and emails since I consider it harassment at this point. In my view right now this company has harassed me and bullied me with asking for payments but never to deal with my complaint in a legal manner and as such they will get a no from me when it comes to this vote. I hope this company goes under for the benefit of others as it is a nightmare it's not a benevolent company it's a uncaring company if you thinking of asking for a loan please don't for you sake.

So I spoke to Amigo today to inform them that I couldn’t make payment and my guarantor is in the same position as a result of I affordability and Covid. I also have an affordability/irresponsible lending complaint with Amigo and now with Financial Ombudsman as Amigo have refused to answer any complaints. So here are my points:- 1. Amigo refuse to answer any complaints with reference to i affordability or irresponsible lending which is breaking the Financial Conduct Authority rules. 2. They refuse to pay any redress claims after the 21/12/20 3. They continue to demand payment from the complainant and or their guarantor and threaten to take them to court and issue defaults on the payment. Constant text messages, phone calls, e mails to both myself and guarantor. 4. They withdrew the DISP wavier they where going to ask the FCA for so they could pause complaints and redress while they put together a Scheme of Arrangement which will take months to set up. So as a result of this they are breaking FCA rules. 5. They have stopped any further lending. 6. Their Share Price has crashed considerably in the last few months and weeks. The Money Shop ICL also asked the FCA about a scheme of arrangement but they continued to answer/investigate complaints and paid redress until their Scheme of Arrangement was set up. Why does Amigo not do the same? It’s because they still need money coming in and not money going out to keep themselves from going into insolvency. And who suffers? The customers and their employees! Shame on you Amigo! VOTE NO!!!!

Lost any faith in Amigo. I have the same opinion as the comment below - I think my complaint , and probably others has purposely been delayed to knock it into this scheme they are trying for. I see Amigo reply on here saying 'Due to a very busy period we haven't been able to stick to the 8week timeframe' , i don't believe it , Amigo haven't been issuing loans for months now so by my reckoning they will have had plenty of free time to resolve complaints. And now you say if the scheme doesn't go ahead you will likely go into insolvency , so you want customers to vote yes to keep you afloat and then wait months and months for very little redress? This negative review could have been avoided if you would have kept in touch and progressed my complaint which has been with you since July 2020.

I was guarantor for a loaner who refused to stop paying. I liaised with Amingo for months and they tried to help me as much as possible. Given my circumstances I signed under duress from the loaner. Amigo was incredibly understanding and took the steps to help me settle the payment. A special thanks to Alex from the Accounts Management team who took my situation, health and the hit from covid into account and worked hard to come up with the best solution for me. The best advice for anyone in my situation is to maintain contact with Amigo and liaise with them as much as possible, they're there to help you in the long run and communication is vital to help with your situation.

I stood as guarantor on a loan for my son. Even with a chequered history of not paying on time Amigo allowed my son to top the loan up. At the time of the top up my son still owed in excess of £9,000 and they allowed him to top this to £10,000. I’m amazed with such a poor history and so little paid off that they allowed this! Anyway, 6 months after the top up I was so stressed with the constant letters, texts and emails saying he hadn’t paid on time. So I ended up paying it off. I complained in January 2020 to Amigo that this loan should never have been given and by August 2020 they agreed I shouldn’t have been a guarantor. I had already got the financial ombudsman involved as it was a lot longer than 8 weeks to get a reply. Eventually Amigo said they would settle my claim and repay my money back to me. BUT they haven’t paid! Despite everything they’re holding off on making the payment. 17 weeks and still waiting to get back the money that they KNOW THEY OWE!! They refuse to update on the case supposedly because it’s an Ombudsman case. This is despite the ombudsman closing it pending the payment. I’ve now emailed the Financial Conduct Authority to ask for their involvement as well.
