Such a bad company, had my complaint open since sept last year, had an email to check how many times my guarantor had paid on my behalf so they could work out a redress amount in November and nothing since!! I have chased and chased with no response but the second a payment is late they are quick enough to get in touch with a barrage of emails calls and texts and when you mention your complaint still nothing happens!! If I could give zero stars I would!! **EDIT** A second rate response from Amigo below which has only been provided due to a bad review being left - it’s a shame they’ve waited over 2 months to say this instead of responding to my many emails! It seems they are trying all they can to delay taking responsibility and giving back what their customers rightly deserve by this ridiculous scheme!
I became a guarantor for a loan in 2016, 3 months later the borrower stopped making payments, I was bombarded with emails and text messages stating shes X amount of days behind, default notices, credit file impacts etc. The borrower blocked me off everything so I couldn’t contact them to solve this or look to get paid back by them, I was then left to pay the remainder balance between £800-£900 I complained to Amigo that this loan should have never been paid out to the borrower in the first place and she even requested several top ups which would indicate financial hardship, I know since then she has became a guarantor for Amigo Loan for her partner - they both live at the same address so this should have been flagged upto Amigo Loan on their system!! Amigo Loans emailed me today to state that my complaint is not being upheld -shock I know quick enough to take your money and hound you for it but can’t give you back what your owed? not even anything for compensation for the harassment of having to pay the account as being “guarantor” So .. I have taken this upon myself to approach the ombudsman, I have looked at some of their case studies and will be interesting to see what the outcome is- Amigo Loans have applied to go through some sort of process instead of Administration so they will now have another £500 added to their bill from me going to the ombudsman! HAHA
Made a complaint back last year begin of july and still waiting to hear from them no offer or anything they are really irresponsible at lending when I was in trouble it was easy fix but if they looked further it was bad to do they do not rush with anything and 7months for a complaint is extremely unprofessional!!!!!!
Amigo loans need to pay up!!!!! I recieved my offer letter and was told my refund should in my account in 10 to 15 working days and now they tell my account on pause!!!!!!!
Not even a one star thay are bullies and I want my day in court. The BBC are very interested in these bullies. Avoid like the plague
Complaint number - 30199819 I submitted my claim over 4 months ago, I have had no communication bar a couple of generic response emails to apologise for the delay. I filled out a questionnaire to prove that I had made the payments to Amigo when I had a loan and then again nothing since then. Can somebody please come back to me?! I have emailed numerous times asking for someone to update me with no response. I’ve not even been advised whether or not my claim has been successful let alone been offered a redress figure. Not very hopeful considering the timescales people are waiting from these reviews, it seems as if the time scales are becoming longer and longer ?! Should not be taking on new claims if you cannot complete the older ones!!?
Took a loan out and got a topup. After years of paying debt off finally done it all with MANY troubles along the way of not being able to afford it. Especially when i contacted them to advise i was pregnant, to which they said when on maternity leave call us to go through making a new payment schedule up when on low wages. Contacted them and they said nope nothing we can do. So on £560 a month they continued taking £120 off me even when discussed the stress i was being put under especially with postnatal depression. Anyway made a complaint after the loan closed for irresponsible lending and 7 months later I have had no final response from them, even after being told in November 2020 i would have a response in 2 weeks. They hound you like a dog when you miss a payment but stall in an absurd way when you make a reasonable and valid complaint. Still waiting for a response regarding the irresponsible lending. I am fobbed off everytime I email or call but yet have seen people on Facebook groups advise they have been awarded the unaffordability claim and received interest back, all in a couple weeks. Disgusting And whenever you do contact them they will give you a generic response like the one on this review. They claim to have a new process in place for these irresponsible lending claims which was started 6 months after my claim was opened so mine should have been dealt with and closed prior to this new scheme which will now delay me another 3 months AT LEAST
Don’t touch this company, I took a £2000 loan out in 2017 and then they said I could top up to £5000 so being the stupid 20 year old i did, although I couldn’t afford it at the time they still paid it out... The balance currently is £4495 to pay off and I’ve paid a total of just over £10,000 in interest and only £595 has come off my balance! Avoid this company. You pay all the interest for the loan period before your payments touch the borrow amount
Really good customer service and very helpful. I paid on time and never missed a payment so really not much interaction. But at the end of my term I'd realised I'd paid to much intrest after taking them to the financial ombudsman they agreed to pay the readress which they did with in the time scale. They get 4 stars and not 5 as they made a big payment to my garountor who never made any payments and as im not in contact with that person can't challenge it.even when spoke to amigo said nothing they could do. But all in all quite pleased
Made a complaint on the 12/08 and waited until the 04/12 for a final response(8 weeks overdue). In my final response i was advised i would get a redress letter no later than 5 working days after the 18/12 - still not received this despite sending numerous emails and phone calls. Always excuses when i call like covid and IT issues etc, 5 months and still not resolved a complaint is unacceptable regardless of covid.
Bloody horrible customer service talking to me like rubbish. I'm very upset i can't wait to pay this all off don't get loan out with theses people again.. if you do good luck I understand I borrowed a loan and have to pay it back. but not happy with being treated like crap very upsetting talking to me like that lucky your over the phone .... please sort your customer service out KMT!!
Had an offer to refund all interest paid, still waiting for the redress figures, have emailed several times with no reply and have been unable to get through when calling.
an excellent company. easy to talk to, empathatic in their approach to customers. had no problems whatsoever. would highly recommend them.
The company are terrible they threw money at me when I never needed it but I took it as it was there I only made a few repayments and they gave me more then I put in a complaint as I got myself in financial difficulties which made me Ill and they have seemed to brush that under the carpet stay well away if I was anyone else oh I said they would look at my complaint they have only had it about 6 months ago
UPDATE. I have spoken to Amigo, and although a figure has been given, they are now saying that this is not a true figure and they cannot give me a timeframe to have this resolved. I have passed their reply onto the financial ombudsman who are now escalating. ————————————————————— After contact from the financial ombudsman with an offer from Amigo, I am still waiting to hear from Amigo to settle. Agreement number is below. I have tried to call several times a day, but there is clearly nobody taking calls as it rings for an hour and then goes dead. This is what I have received from the financial ombudsman: Your ref RES8868631 Dear Mr Stock Your complaint about Amigo Loans Ltd Thank you for letting me know you accept the offer made by Amigo Loans Ltd. As discussed on our call. You took out eight loans with Amigo, they upheld all loans apart from loan 1 and loan 6. They have told us that they are now willing to make an offer on loan 6 only. The offer will include: - Amigo refunding the interest that you paid on the loans; - Amigo removing any negative information that has been recorded on your credit file concerning the loan. As your guarantor made some payments towards the loan for you, Amigo has said it will first offer them a refund of all the money they paid towards your loan. Your guarantor will be given the option to accept or reject this offer. Should your guarantor accept the refund, Amigo says it will add this balance back on to your loan before applying the refund described above to your loan account. What this means for you Amigo has given us the details of what your refund will look like if your guarantor accepts the refund, as follows: Total settlement due: £3,020.34 Less amount paid towards loan by guarantor (if accepted): £1,264.80 Please note, there may be slight variations in calculations when Amigo apply the refund to your loan account due to simple interest being owed up to the date of settlement. Placed a complaint, ref - 45967348 Made this in early August, haven’t been provided any updates at all. Attempted to call multiple times, sent numerous unanswered emails and it’s unfair. If this was me that ceased communication, my credit file would be wrecked and money taken from my guarantors account but because it’s Amigo, all is well and just keep paying and they’ll get round to you when they can be bothered. If this gets resolved sharpish, I’ll revisit my rating but that’s highly doubtful and I literally have 0 expectations with this company now. UPDATE - spoke to them yesterday who essentially confirmed that they will contact me when they’ve got an update. Pretty strange how they can place a complaint on hold but no place any existing loan agreements on hold whilst it gets resolved. Avoid this company at all costs. This has been ongoing since the start of August.
I would give zero if I could. I am so upset I have had a complaint ongoing for a year now, I had several loans upheld by the fos who asked for amigo to respond to the decision by the 20th of November and what a surprise the fos has heard nothing. I have now been told my complaint could possibly go into this stupid new complaints review because I haven't had the final settlement well guess what that's your fault for having horrendous complaint times and not responding to the fos in time. HOW CAN THIS HAPPEN?. Surely deal with the complaints you have and stop accepting new ones until you have had the review. My complaint has already had a decision from the FOS I want my refund ......
Wouldnt even give 1 star! Made a complaint in February 2020, complaint was forwarded to FOS and in the meantime amigo offered me a redress refund in December 2020, they have not responded to the FOS or myself. I want answers, is this pathetic scheme you have just announced recently, apply to the people you have already offered a refund to? If so, you cannot go back on that and not carry on progressing with the refund. You haven't contacted myself, FOS or my guarantor despite saying you would weeks ago! I get that you guys are busy, but that's your own fault. You wouldn't have so many complaints if you were a decent, honest and fair loan company in the first place. I've also been made aware that your complaints process is ridiculous because you don't process each complaint in date order you receive it, which is unfair and disgusting to me tbh. Amigo loans are a absolute joke. They have sent me out a default notice and keep providing me with a number to contact them as they want to discuss my account. The number they have provided continuously says they are closed. I have been trying to call everyday since the 4th January whilst sending numerous emails and nothing. There quick to chase you for the money but don’t want to help. I need to change my payment date, I need to change my number. How am I meant to do this if they are closed? Amigo loans are not here to help! And they think that supplying me with the notice is going to help knowing that we are in a global pandemic! 😡 I’ve decided to send emails everyday and that way they are able to see the trace from the 4th January until now!

Jan 22,2021I hit a pretty bad spot in my life and ended up racking up about 25k in debt through a split which then turned into gambling and drinking. Amigo loans was the only place to turn as knew if I had a guarantor they would take me on. Had they actually looked into my finances and debt I had no one would have came near me. I took a loan and then was even able to top up but as corona virus hit then finances were impacted and I had to take a trust deed out to get my finances under control. So currently am paying my trust deed which amigo are receiving money for but they also chased my guarantor to pay back the remainder. Which he obviously wasn't willing to do so I am now having to pay him aswel. So I filed a complaint for irresponsible lending on the 1st of November and all through the process they said sorry about the delays but it will still be settled within the 8 weeks agreed by the FOS. Come 26th of December it was still not settled. And then in the coming weeks receive emails about this new scheme they are proposing. Fair enough if new applicants want to go through this scheme but our applications were within the 8 weeks u promised. So not only have u broke your word in this, u are still demanding payments from us while we wait till march for some scheme that might not even happen, and then we need to apply again. Seems like the delay tactics and the work of crooks who have something in store to shaft us all.
