Aug 26,2023If we could give this company 0 stars we absolutely would, one star is giving them way too much credit. The movers at this company showed up 45 min late then dropped our dresser, splitting the top front of the dresser which completely destroyed it then the company offered 150 to compensate. We said that’s no where near enough to replace our BRAND NEW large and EXPENSIVE dresser. So they turned around and gave us a final offer of 250. We ended up taking it but that dresser was worth over 800 so we will now have to pay at least another 600 to replace it. That should literally be criminal. They will take your money to move your stuff, destroy said stuff, then not bother to replace the stuff they destroyed. I guess if that’s the kind of moving company you want, this is the perfect place for you. Not to mention it was like pulling teeth to even get them to give us anything at all. Such an unpleasant, unprofessional, horribly disgusting experience. Do not trust these people with your furniture, they don’t care about you or your things they care about money and being greedy. It’s repulsive. If we had the money to hire a lawyer and sue them, we absolutely would. They’re a joke of a company and they shouldn’t be allowed to exist.

Aug 25,2023Avoid moving with Bellhop Boston at all costs!!! They may appear cheaper than other options, but you truly get what you pay for in terms of lack of reliability. We got burned on our latest move and I advise you to learn from our experience. I booked my move ~4 weeks prior. Leading up to moving day, I get several emails from Bellhop on how to get ready for my move and what to expect. That's all fine, but it becomes ironic when, less than 12 hours before the scheduled move (which was 8am), I receive a call from an unsympathetic customer rep who tells me they cannot find a truck for my move the next morning. The alternative was that my move could be pushed out two days after with a "likelihood" that I will have a full team at the alternative time. Anyone who plans out a move and has taken time off from work knows that this is absolutely not a good alternative! At best, they can promise me only the two movers I booked for my original schedule, but I would have to procure my own moving truck (e.g. U-Haul). As a consolation, they did offer a pittance 15% discount if I continued with whatever service of theirs I use. When I got off the phone, I could feel my face exploding with stress since I then had to plan on renting a U-Haul, driving a massive truck with no prior experience, mapping my route to make sure I hit no low-clearance bridges, and returning the truck to the pick up location, all while coordinating moving my belongings and car. i got only 3 hours of sleep that night because of the stress. The following morning, I get a call from the customer support manager, who tells me they can, in fact, find me only one mover, which would have been an impossible job given the amount of stuff that needed to be moved. At that point, I told them to kick rocks. I frantically dialed other moving companies in the area who can pick up the job last minute and very fortunately was able to find one. Bellhop's website advertises a reliable and stress-free moving day; this entire experience was anything but that! Their entire service model of hiring gig workers is abhorrent and just prone to unreliability. They do not deserve to be in business. There are plenty of professional moving companies in Boston. Do not give Bellhop a chance to ruin your moving day!!!

Aug 23,2023BAIT-AND-SWITCH TACTICS, MOVER BEWARE! Moving my mom In St. Louis, MO: Quoted me via email at $200/hr for the job over a month in advance. The day before the move I received a call from a company that is not Bellhop but told me that they "picked up the contract through Bellhop". The next day the movers worked out well but then charged me $1150 on a $750 quote, a quote that Bellhop had provided. Instead of $200/hr, they charged $250, plus extra fees for the truck rental, all of which I was made aware of AFTER the move completed; I had no reason to think that the estimate had changed. Single bedroom, in city move, 3.5 hours and 3 people with a truck rental. I just did a similar move in Sacramento but with a 2 bedroom and it cost me less than that. Bellhop is saying that they have no record of the transaction and that it isn't their responsibility. I still have the voicemail of the movers saying "Hi, this is (moving company name), we picked up your contract through Bellhop..." Check some other reviews, their backend systems (CRM) don't talk to each other (so they can claim there's no accurate record of your transaction) and their customer service is an insult to paying customers. I'd give no stars if it was an option.
