Better not only delayed closing twice, and was never timely in anything they did, but they required work building code didn't require - including a basement to have a ceiling - before they'd approve the loan. Included in their nonsense was to have any roofer other than the roofer who recently worked on the roof come out and guarantee the roof won't leak (no one will do that). The roofer who recently worked on the roof wouldn't write such a letter because the provided warranty was already vetted by legal counsel. Better finally accepted the warranty but only if the final invoice showed the account paid. And there is more nonsense this company took issue with that is too numerous to mention here.

Melanie Intriago was great and really helped moved things forward. Some things took a little longer than expected, such as the appraisal and its review. Overall great and easy experience!

Everything was fine until funding. Poor internal handoffs, missed closing date, no follow up and bad communication.

First time buyer - Everyone at better were so helpful, Anna, Martin & Nick were great throughout answered all my questions so quick and thorough and kept us up to date with every part off the process, beat the rate we’d been given initially first time. We’ve already recommended them to others, couldn’t fault them it’s been the most stress free process and we can’t thank them enough for securing our first mortgage for our dream house! Chris and Amanda were brilliant. So helpful, so efficient… our circumstances were slightly complicated yet with their advice and support, the mortgage was approved within a matter of days & they continued to be helpful right up to completion. Highly recommend!!

Everything was great until it wasn't. The service was 10/10 for the first few days which really sold us and got us to apply for a loan. After the application process, everything immediately changed and took a nose dive. Our "Closing Coordinator" was very uncommunicative and when you could finally reach him, very unpleasant to speak with. As a first time home buyer, we knew nothing about the process - and he had no interest in educating us or ensuring us that everything was going smoothly. For a process that is already very complicated and intimidating, he successfully made it worse.

Jai was brilliant from the initial conversation all the way to getting us an offer, absolute star who listened to everything I wanted but also gave me his expert opinion which helped me change my mind for the better, and also got us an offer within 2 days I am so impressed, my 5 star is solely based on Jai, cannot wait to use him again !! Can’t forget Ashleigh, our case manager either- she kept us updated at each point of the application; thanks for all the hard work!

Pros/Cons: I want to preface this with saying I am a manager at a mortgage company and I got in all documents requested within 2 hours of them being needed(This is normally what causes delays in 90% of loans). So I am just being blunt on what I think and my experience. Pros: the loan officer Christina was great. After the initial loan estimate/conversation her job is not to keep your updated on the process but instead the coordinator. Christina still took the time to respond to me after the fact. The user interface and being able to create your own loan estimate upfront is the best I've seen by far and really let's you know what your options are. Also I was able to get a much better deal than anywhere else even with a broker who I had used before. This leads me to believe Better lost money on this loan and is actually struggling as a company. Cons: Worst customer service possible after the initial loan estimate/ purchase contract signed. The loan coordinator/processor Cassandra was supposed to take the reins and keep me informed. She didn't reply to my agent or I's emails/calls once the whole process. The only reason I found out they couldn't contact the title company was after I reached out to a customer service rep/called the title company myself. Which I will say this was actually my fault for providing the wrong contact at the company. However why not let me know you cannot contact them after 2-3 weeks? That was hiccup one, but after that it was fine up until closing. I was given a seller credit after the initial closing disclosure went out on 1/31. I asked them to update it 2 times prior to about 2/20 so it would be accurate for closing. Christina would respond but the closing department was doing nothing. The night prior to the day I needed to wire all closing funds I still was not given a number of what was needed until I emailed/texted/messaged a rep/called a rep. I actually had to follow up 4 times that day. It was send out at 9pm after I finally called at 7pm. This is baffling because 1. I asked 2 weeks prior for this. 2. The company makes money when the loan closes so this should of been a top priority. 3. at the company I work at someone would be fired/closed to being fired for such a lack of customer service. In summary I got a great loan and closed on time but the customer service was absolutely terrible. I do think if you are refinancing with them it most likely is a lot smoother since it takes a seller/agent out of the picture.

Great people to work with. They were there every step of the way answering all my questions and providing solutions to any hiccup that happened. The program they have is easy to follow and saved me tons of money. I will use them again and I will highly recommend them to anyone that needs in need of a home loan.

I am a first time home buyer. I could not get a better rate anywhere. I received my loan estimate and sent it out to multiple loan companies. Big banks and small local banks. They would call me back hours after submitted better mortgages loan estimate and tell me they could not beat the price. The experience I had with better mortgage was great. I recommend going with better mortgage after you do the due diligence of comparing rates and estimates. You won't be disappointed or discouraged after you fully commit to better mortgage.

Better Mortgage made the process of buying my first home easy and hassle-free. I had an excellent Agent, Josef Scigliano, always answering my questions and requests. I do recommend Better Mortgage, as soon as my offer was accepted, they worked really fast to close my purchase. Thank you!

They will answer any question you have in whatever medium you prefer with as much explanation as you desire. I was never left wondering what was going on, and they were extremely patient when they answered the same question multiple times. I researched a lot of banks and mortgage companies, and no one had a better overall rating or lower costs. It was a no brained. Another mortgage company asked me to give him a chance to see if he could do better. He could not! He was not Better. 😉

The team at Better was such a pleasure to work with. They helped me quickly expedite closure and as the home buyer I was ready to close within two weeks. Everything was spot on and the task manager really helped me keep abreast of the items I was responsible for in purchasing my new home. Communication was fantastic and the team was quick to respond to my questions

This was my first mortgage, in Brooklyn, New York; buying a condo direct from my landlord (no broker). The online process was smooth and efficient. Ankit S. was my my home advisor, very patient with all my questions. I highly recommend. I had been working with an agent who tried to scare me into not using Better.com - saying they don't know Brooklyn, don't know how to do condo mortgages - all proven to be false. Better.com was able to give me a much better rate and guarantee it for a longer period of time.

This was the WORST experience I have ever had with a lender. They basically were trying to deny us the loan and prevent us from purchasing the house, making absurd requests. They would not accept our documented rental income or my husband's professional license from the state we live in. They pulled credit 3 times. When the appraisal did not come in on time they would not get a replacement appraiser until it was a month out. Our "team" had people removed from it repeatedly. It was only due to the fact that one person argued on our behalf that our loan got approved. ABSOLUTELY horrific.

Most annoying company ever keep calling even though I've explained I only signed up as I thought I would get a comparison and not interested but they still keep calling daily.

They did ok I guess, their service and support and my consultation wasn't anything that stood out, i think i will still look around and see what other companies have to offer, just felt very average

Better Mortgage simplifies the process. A representative is assigned to your account and works with you and communicates each step of the way. When the closing is assigned you select the appointment day and time and they come to you. It was so easy working with them.
