Overall, working with Better was easy, and the rate could not be beat. Ravon and Courtney were responsive and made sure everything was ready for closing. The only reason for 4 stars is an issue with closing costs. For some reason, when Better evaluated the property tax the day before closing, it was $2k more than the previous estimate. It would have been better if that was finalized sooner.
The folks at Better were responsive, attentive, and extremely patient despite my nervous calls - they picked up and answered me completely every single time. Also they offered the best rates and truly try to get you the best possible terms - not just make a deal. My loan officer Adam, my coordinator Andre, and Robert who set me up initially were amazing. Truly made the loan process easy to understand and manageable, despite how stressful it can be to buy your first home.
A team that really cares for you to get the best deal made everything so easy. Even now when their job is done they will be with me until I get my keys. Amazing service by all

Initial contact with company was good leading me to believe they were a good company to deal with but I was very mistaken. Despite my many emails and phone calls I still dont know if the mortgage application has been submitted because nobody ever gets back to me. I did complain to a manager last week but it seems to have made no difference. I can only assume they dont want to arrange a mortgage for me and go to another broker and write off the time I have wasted sending in documents and trying to get answers.
Overall, I did end up closing with Better, but I felt like my mortgage coordinator and loan officer acted slowly and without transparency. I read negative reviews about Better and ignored them and really wish I hadn't. When I asked for reasons why closing took longer than expected or what documents they were waiting on, I was frequently met with shrugs or opaque "we need the documents." I would have closed much faster and with less hassle if I had gone with a credit union and I wish I had shopped around more. I felt like I was in the dark for most of the process, and the staff were unclear about what documents they needed to close. The only real benefit of Better is that they ordered an appraisal on the early side and they budged a little when I showed them a better rate from UN Federal Credit Union. Lots of other options offer rate comparisons and online options to identify rates so SHOP AROUND EARLY! Overall, it wasn't a nightmare, but I wouldn't choose them, and would not recommend them to anyone.
Everyone on the team bent over backwards to help us have a great experience and make us feel like we were important customers. I would highly recommend. The process was so easy and stress-free.
We could not be more satisfied with our mortgage process. Having purchased before and sold recently, as well as working in the financial industry in the past - we know how daunting a mortgage can feel. I was impressed with the streamlined digital application and ease of use. Very quick turn around, efficient communication, great options. Would definitely recommend!
Better was a very easy lender to work with. We were first time home buyers and found Better's online platform efficient and we definitely enjoyed the cost savings that that efficiency brought (~$10K). All the people we worked with were available whenever we needed to contact them and were able to answer all of our questions.

Had a great mortgage experience with Better. My loan officer, John Elliott, was helpful, patient, and answered questions quickly. This housing market is stupid. Rates are higher than they've been for awhile, housing values are also high, and inventory is low. It took months of looking to find a place, and John was there to update rates and answer my questions through it all. I could not have had a better experience with Better - did I mention they offered the best rates and lowest fees of the 4 lenders I compared?? When my offer was accepted, Andre Montagne was added as a team member to process the loan - he was also quick to respond to questions online or on the phone - I received calls at different milestones, which was above and beyond, in my book. Thanks to the Better Team - to John and Elliott, and all of those that support the process to get the work done. I move into my new house in 2 days, and I'm so grateful this important piece of the process went as well as it did. Great job all!
This is my families third time using better. The process is always easy and seemless. We did run into some issues this time and it showed how not being able to talk to the the actual underwriter is a pain. In Traditional lending I would have been able to talk to the underwriter. But overall the experience was good and will continue to use them if price is right.

I highly recommend Better Mortgage, primarily is an online lender, you submit the applications and follow/complete upcoming tasks and you will get to the finish line, support is super quick for any questions/guidance you may need!
I'm very happy that we decided to use Better mortgage when purchasing our home. The online portal was easy to use and helped us to stay informed and on track. Being able to generate an offer letter and modify it easily was very helpful. We felt comfortable that we were getting the best interest rate, and there was transparency in costs so we knew what to expect on closing day. Our Processing Expert Ashley Henry was incredibly supportive throughout the entire process and we're particularly grateful to have worked with her.
Using Better Mortgage for our HELOC was the worst financial decision I've ever made. I chose them for a number of reasons, including what I perceived to be a fast, efficient online process. Nothing could be further from the truth. My HELOC application began February 13th and it FINALLY closed May 3rd. The over documentation they required (not to mention the duplication) was a nightmare. There were delays on every turn. Had TWO major issues with title work, that I had to research and solve myself. I did research on many HELOCs and almost all had no closing costs if the account remained open for 36 months. That's what I though was the case here as well. I was dead wrong and I should have been sure, but I believe Better Mortgage "hid" this in the documentation I was inundated with. It was a $12,000.00 mistake that they made off of me for an absolute nightmare of a process, where I did most of the leg work. I was fleeced, no doubt.

Aug 28,2023We recently purchased a home and used better mortgage as our lender. The process was really smooth with minimal work on our part. We submitted the requested documents and better mortgage took care of the rest. The interest rates are fair and you can generate estimated loan documents to gauge what your closing costs will be and what you can ultimately afford. Overall I think better mortgage is beating rocket mortgage at their own game.
