In a quiet spot s short walk to the village centre, it was set in a steam with mature trees all around ( you need to dodge around if you want to sit in full sun) Blockley is a lovely village off the tourism track with an historic church and a village shop and cafe

Jun 21,2023Our family of five recently spent a week at Archers Cottage, Sudeley Castle, in Winchcombe. Traveling from the United States, we were not too familiar with the surrounding area but knew we wanted a place in the peaceful countryside to walk, enjoy nature, and just soak up England. Archers Cottage fulfilled that purpose and more..so much so that my boys, 22, 17, and 10, had no desire to "act the tourists" and leave on day trips to the regular England tourist sites...they just wanted us to stay locally and enjoy the area--afternoon tea at Sudeley Pavillion, run parts of the 42 mile Winchcombe walk (access right outside our door), play at the Castle playground, walk the town and have dinner at one of the local pubs, or, my personal favorite, grill dinner at the cottage and eat in our backyard, accompanied by wood pigeons and various other birds, beautiful flowers, and wildlife. Thank you Sudeley Castle and Bolthole Retreats for creating a truly amazing vacation for our family. The town of Winchcombe is delightful and a wonderful, peaceful place to enjoy the Cotswalds. Back in the states now, we truly miss our Winchcombe public footpaths--nothing like those exist here--and the access to Sudeley Castle was so special. Thanks again!

Jun 20,2023We stayed in Field View Cirencester as we wanted a base to explore the Cotswolds. A car is essential as it is in a very rural location but overall we had a lovely stay. The cottage is as quaint as you can imagine and the amenities were well provided for and the host was welcoming and accommodating to our needs such as late check out time. Would recommend if you are looking for a small place to base yourself in Cirencester.

Jun 19,2023We couldn't fault Woodside Cottage. It was stunning. This was a short break to celebrate my mom's birthday, and she loved it. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed. The games room was a fantastic feature and much enjoyed by my son and husband. The garden furniture was a joy to sit and relax in whilst playing board games and drinking wine in the sunshine. The King's Arms Inn was just a short walk away, and we had some lovely meals there. The only downside was that our stay went too quickly.

Jun 19,2023We recently spent a wonderful family holiday in Yew Tree House, Longborough. We had a super time in a beautiful house, everything was very comfortable, very well equipped and beautifully furnished. Beds and linen were immaculate. The house has a courtyard garden with lovely furniture which we were fortunate enough with the weather to use most days. The location is ideal for exploring the Cotswolds. The staff at Bolthole retreats were friendly and helpful when contacted. We will definitely return.

Jun 18,2023Perfect family long weekend away at Lower Lodge Barn in Alcester such a beautiful part of the country. The barn was just everything we could ask for very spacious and very luxurious with an incredible view from every angle. There are amazing sunsets to be seen from the balcony with its reverse level living and the hot tub was a very welcome addition. We also took our 2 dogs who loved it. Lots of lovely walks and of course close to Stratford upon Avon which is a must to visit. Would love to go back and stay at the barn again sometime.

Jun 17,2023Just got back after a most enjoyable stay at Whippet Cottage in Bretforton near Evesham. Lovely quiet village but very close to the popular Fleece Inn (recommend the pies and staff are lovely). Cottage was exactly as described by Bothole Retreats on their site. Nearly everything we needed was in the cottage, but they can't provide everything I know. Very close to lots of lovely places to visit. Arrival instructions etc all very detailed. Would definitely use Bothole again for booking but perhaps somewhere else as stayed in Bretforton twice now.

Jun 15,2023We stayed in the Bertha Shepherds hut on the Lydney Estate this week and were over the moon when we arrived. The location was very rural (as advertised on the website) but the hut was delightful! The use of space to fit in a fully functioning kitchen area, modern bathroom with a great shower and a king size bed was brilliant. The decor was modern, yet perfectly in keeping with surroundings. Our hut was spotlessly clean and beautifully presented with tea, coffee, milk and a packet of biscuits on arrival. Our hut was surrounded by a field which overlooked the forest and had incredible sunrise and sunsets. I’d recommend the shepherds hut for any couple looking for a peaceful break away.

Jun 14,2023Our stay at Gras Lodge, Middle Littleton was fantastic. The lodge was immaculately clean and very spacious and comfortable. The hosts Jo and Mark are super friendly and helpful and the little extras of tea, coffee and fresh milk a lovely treat - as well as the delicious homemade brownies. Would thoroughly recommend this as a place to stay.

Jun 13,2023What a delight! We stayed in Appletree Cottage and it was absolute perfection! We loved walking right out our door to the local shops. Bourton on the Water has plenty to do, enjoy and eat. We were there on a very warm weekend so the crowds came out during the day. We felt so lucky that we could escape back to our perfect little cottage. We also enjoyed heading off to enjoy the more sleepy villages during the peak hours and then returning to have lovely little Burton all to ourselves. The cottage itself had wonderful modern amenities but still kept its old world charm. It is so peaceful and quiet - even on a busy weekend. We would never stay anywhere else while visiting The Cotswolds!

Jun 11,2023Bolthole retreats were very efficient and thorough to deal with, all the instructions were perfect which made for an easy arrival especially for us Aussies arriving into a brand new city and driving. There were no issues and highly recommend. The drying house was lovely cosy and good location. We would have loved a starter pack in the kitchen as we arrived late at night and all the restaurants kitchens were closed. The beds were super comfortable, it was quiet at night, good showers and everything worked. So all in all a great stay! Thank you Bolthole retreats

Jun 07,2023This is a lovely cottage in a tucked away location that's wonderfully quiet but perfect for exploring the Cotswolds. We have rated it so highly because the cottage is exactly how it looks in the photos; beautifully decorated and very well equipped. Bathrooms and kitchen were of a very high standard and everything was spotlessly clean. Having a range of baby paraphernalia for our 18 month old grandchild made life a lot easier. She loved the garden and exploring the house. One small word of caution the 3 steps from the patio area to the garden are steep and children will need supervision. The patio area is a lot lower than the garden and this drop needs supervision too. Orchard Cottage was the perfect place for our long weekend with family to celebrate a special birthday. We will go again.
