Support by Mark was excellent, his responses always very quick and helpful and I`m sure there would have been a satisfactory solutiuon to any problem that might have arisen. Luckily I had no serious trouble with my kit, but Mark was still helpful with giving tips and providing a beautiful piece of veneer sample. Thanks! Kit ordered was the LP Spalted Maple top with Gold hardware. This was my first kit and it was a fantastic and fun way to learn more about my guitars and being productive at the same time. I put in roughly 30-40 h of work, including looking for materials and tools. Everything was included in the package as described and there was only a very tiny dent in the body from transportation. The quality of the wood was overall very good. A couple of patches where the glue seeped through the veneer, but nothing notable after finishing the body. The neck is suprisingly well build and has a beautiful ebony fretboard with decent frets and well done block inlays. The hardware is decent for the price, though upgrades are a good option to make the guitar even higher quality. I can`t say anything about the pick ups, since I put others in from the start. The electronics are of ok quality and easy to work with since no soldering is required. One of the lugs of the volume pot was broken off though. Another minor complaint would be, that the carvings for the PU's is a little off center. The PU's screws are a not exactly under the respective strings. Setting up the guitar took a little time since some of the frets needed leveling and I had to readjust the bridge since intonation came out flat even though the srews were pushed to the max. I also had to file down the bone saddle a good amount to bring the strings down to a playable level. Here is a pics of my (modified) DIY LP kit: https://imgur .com/zWID6n6 (remove the blank space) Finish: I used fountain pen royal blue ink and jsut a couple of drops of black ink around the edges. I applied several layers and sanded them back partially (careful, the veneer is not very thick). I finished with 100 % Tung oil and applied around 8 coats. I`m very happy with the results. I wanted to retain the natural look of the beautiful spalted maple and at the same time make things a bit more interesting. for the mahagony body and neck I used two coats of mahagony coiloured wood stain with two coats of tung oil. I like the deep blue - brown orange contrast a lot. Things I changed: - black PU frames (will be upgraded to ebony frames once I saved some money) - gold toggle switch and switch plate (lining disk from a hardware store) - wooden knobs - new bridge volume pot for coil split setup - tonerider AC4 Humbucker for bridge - tonerider P90 Rebel for neck - resoldering for above wiring (here I probably encountered the most problems. Pots acted a little weird at first (Volume as Tone and so forth), but I was able to track the problem down. It was a cold ground solder that caused the issues) - shielding all caveties with shield paint (wich didn't seem to make much of a difference to be honest) - cut and glued the free veneer sample to the headstock - padded the bridge srews since they were rattling at certain frequencies (I'll replace the bridge eventually) The guitar sounds absolutely amazing! It is very bright in comparison to my PRS hollow-body copy and Ibanez RG series guitar. Not so much suited for singing lead sounds but playing Rock riffs a la Led Zep, ACDC and the like it blows everything out of the water by a long shot. It is just so punchy, grippy, and well articulated! All the while it's not shrill and cutting but even a little creamy. I feel like the more massive mahagony body really makes a difference here. This guitar kit was well worth the money and effort put into it. If you are willing to get creative and don't shy away from a little problem solving and trial and error I can not recomment the experience enough!

Second body from this company. Better figure than the last, which was superb, and with equal build quality. At the price it is very hard to fault this. Spalted maple, book matched cap-wood, a good thickness, over a cable routed mahogany base. Finish sanding, staining and building a neck is all i have to do to the woodwork. It may be cheap but you don’t fit this with crap, hipshot, gotoh, schaller hardware and s&d pups for this. Very happy customer.

Lp body. Mahogany with spalted maple capwood, good thickness of cap, no thin veneer here, well routed for pups, pots (i might have chosen a slightly thicker base for the pots but that is easily adjustable) and set neck. Edge binding too, although i might put my own on it. Quality timber with no visible shakes or defects and really nicely machined all round. Excellent value. Rather beautiful. It’s going to be a baritone once i make the neck for it. This is the first time that i have actually bought a body, normally i build basses from raw lumber, And this was a wee trial to see what i’d get. Well pleased. I have a second ordered and might just get some more to play with. At the cost they sell at, you could make cheaper, if you could source the timber, have the time and the skills and tools etc etc. The quality of the body makes me want to try one of their full kits. As it is i’m laminating up a neck for this today and digging out the Crimson Guitars woodstain to lift the spalted maple figure off the charts. Happy customer indeed!

After ordering a Tele style kit I was pleased to receive it very promptly. A few questions I had before hand were also answered promptly. Opening the box, I was pleasantly surprised to find what looks like a quality product which has the makings of a pretty good guitar. The body looks good, the electronics have none-solder connections and the neck has a really good feel to it. Constructed with maple and with a nice ebony fretboard, it will need a minimum amount of prepping before I finish it with tru-oil. The only tiny fault I found was that the 3rd fret was slightly raised. A few strokes of a stone soon cured that! The headstock will, of course, need shaping but templates are readily available on the net. All this is pre-assembly while I await delivery of paint, etc. I will update when I have finished the project.

I received a stratocaster style kit for Christmas and got to work on it soon after. I've worked on guitars before and have the correct neck straight edges and fret sanding blocks etc, so this shouldn't have been an issue. The neck isn't bad, needed a few raised frets sanding down but overall ok, however this is where the good part ended. I expected to have to carry out some work on it, but the body suffers from terrible build quality. I don't think any of the pre-drilled holes lined up with the scratch plate or bridge, it would have been better to not include any as doing it myself would have been so much better. This was so bad that the pressure on the bridge screws caused a few to snap as I was tightening them up, leaving the screw thread in the wood below the surface, making removal impossible without butchering the body and basically scrapping the kit without additional purchases. I had to buy a hard tail bridge to fit so the guitar didn't go in the bin. This is a shame as I specifically wanted the tremolo bridge. Tuners and pickups are cheapest of the cheap and also as others have said the interference is terrible so expect a lot of additional work trying to shield the cavities. Since fully built guitars can be bought for sub £100 (and pretty good quality too), these kits should really be better made and use better components at this price point since they're saving a huge amount on not having to actually build the things. Overall pretty disappointed with it.

I purchased a DIY telecaster style kit and I absolutely love it. I can have the tele style, but make it my own way! The kit it’s self was easy to piece together and actually very fun. The only thing it needs is some fine tuning as a few frets were too high making it unplayable past fret 14. Overall, very happy.
