Bike arrived in kit form. I am not great with assembly so I eventually had to ask a mobile bike technician to help with assembly and checking for road. I was out to work on my bike today and found that it ran well and gear changes were smooth with the handlebar arrangement. Very happy overall. I have told my colleagues about my experience and recommended you.
I ordered a bike that was delivered in shocking fashion by Parcelfarce (don't get me started on their shambolic, rude delivery man masquerading as an actual delivery man!) He had demanded to know if my partner was going to help him carry the bike. She wasn't because she's doesn't respond well to demands (trust me) and two, she's not a delivery driver working for Parcelfarce. The packaging had been ripped open with holes as if it had been kicked, the bike had actually left the packaging at one point (Cry Sweet Freedom), dropped and shoved back in the now flapping packing. Upon being questioned in regard to his behaviour, the delivery man let my partner know that customer service was pretty much a fantasy, with his own volley of choice words. Luckily the bike only had a broken reflector. Back to Cycle Republic.. After the standard 'we are sorry and we are looking into this, please call us back for an update' service. The person who was dealing with the complaint is always 'currently on another call' or 'will call you back immediately' The last piece of advice was 'If you go to Halfords, they'll probably give you a reflector for free' As well they might but here's me thinking 'Hang on, shouldn't you do tha or arrange for that to happen' Maybe it's Halford's 'Give A Free Reflector Month' I've replaced the reflector myself. No thanks to CycleFarce.
Bought an XL mens touring bike online with my work's cycle to work scheme. They firstly delivered the wrong bike (a child's bike of the same make!) then secondly when the bike did arrive they hadn't put wire caps on the brake cables or greased (let alone copper grease) most of the nuts/bolts. When I rang up the branch to report the issue, they informed me that the online arm of the company often make such mistakes. In fairness they did rectify the problem of the wrongly delivered bike relatively swiftly, and give me some Halfords vouchers, hence two stars.
No Efficiency. Ordered and paid for a bike in store on 30th May wanting to collect 28th June as a suprise birthday gift. The staff are very laid back which did not give me any confidence in getting this on time. So i visited the store and called twice during the month to ensure it was all on track. Today is the 28th i called at 3pm to ensure pickup at 4 was still ok and i was told the bike had not been delivered, they offered me an alternative, I asked if it was ready and they said yes. Went to the store at 4 Leo at the desk did respond to me standing in front of him so I told him I came to collect a bike he said to wait for his colleague to come back from the store room. Colleague walked straight passed me no communication from any of the 3 staff members standing in front of me. I waited a few minutes and asked Leo how long it would be he said 15min. I asked for a refund he said ok and refunded me more than I paid. NO Apology, NO explaination, NO persuation to wait, NO customer service skills. I guess one month is not long enough to build a bike.
I wanted to write a review because I had read so many bad reviews prior to ordering my bike but took a chance, and actually I was pretty impressed with the service I received. I ordered a Ridgeback bike with 5 day delivery slot, and a basket. After 5 days the basket had arrived but no sign of the bike. Cycle Republic hadn't contacted me to let me know it would be late, which would have been appreciated, however once I contacted them myself, the guys in customer services were very helpful. They explained the delay (a supplier issue) and how they were resolving the issue, and when my bike would be delivered. The bike arrived 2 weeks after ordering, but they offered me a voucher in compensation, which I used to buy a toddler seat from Halfords - all good. By the time the bike had come I was about to go on holiday so couldn't try the basket on the bike. When I got home, I tried the basket, and used it a few times, but it was a bad design and kept slipping off the handlebars - damaging the basket and engaging the gears. I phoned up and spoke to David who agreed to refund the basket despite being outside 30 days. Basket returned, the refund was processed within 5 days. Overall I was satisfied with my experience and I believe they made up for the initial delay in their efforts to compensate me and offer good customer service.
I went into Cycle Republic today in Nottingham as I buy plenty of bits off them but on this occasion was looking for a cheap saddle to add to a bike I had without one so I could give it to charity and they let me have one for free! I have also bought trailers from there previously and in terms of value for money, both one and two child versions are unbeatable at less than £100
DO NOT ORDER A BIKE FROM THESE GUYS! I ordered a kids Bmx online, website said it would be in stock and ready to collect at Southampton within two days. Its now a week later and whilst the lock has arrived there is no sign of the bike. Two calls and an email to customer services and no one ever gets back to you. Utterly unsatisfactory service.
BRISTOL STORE (UNION STREET) - When I called to make sure my online order was ready to collect, I was put on hold 3 times whilst they tried to find the order, asking me the same questions multiple times re order no, my name etc (I was on the phone for around 20 mins). Once they found the bike they told me they wouldn't be building it. I quoted what was in my e-mail and their website and they suddenly changed their tune telling me that the bike would be built and ready to collect at 2pm the next day. I arrive at the store at 3pm the next day to be told the bike hadn't been built and that I would have to wait 30 mins. In the end I waited an hour, leaving the store at around 4pm. Seems like the shop is ran by a bunch of kids and isn't properly managed. If it's a means of paying an extra £10/£20 and getting your bike elsewhere hassle-free I would strongly suggest doing so!
I ordered a Ridgeback MX2 for £219.99, admittedly a super good deal. After a week of not hearing anything and no dispatch notice, I was surprised today to have had Paypal alert me to a refund by CR - not a word from CR themselves though. Absolutely zero context for this cancellation - no communication whatsoever. To my disgust, the MX2 is still listed as in stock and is now £249.99. Basically they screwed me over for the sake of an extra £30. Even if I was offered the bike now for £219.99, I wouldn't chance it as they obviously cannot be trusted. Taking into account my review and a lot of others, Cycle Republic are evidently a bunch of cowboys. Avoid.
Very disorganised bad communication. Very little in stock and sales people are not helpful. Avoid

I purchased a 'ex-display' Boardman Signature SLR from the Birmingham Store for a lot of money (over £4k) - the flagship Boardman road bike. I had a problem with a noisy cassette and poor gear shift 6 rides in. I live some 25 miles from the store and my local mechanic, to his and my surprise, diagnosed a worn cassette. This was met with disbelief over the telephone and rudeness when I took it back to Cycle Republic. I was told it was an ex-Boardman Performance Centre bike (the first I had heard of this) and therefore was 'second hand and sold as seen" I was also told I had got a bargain (implication - you should be happy). This was delivered in a defensive and aggressive manner. To be fair, the chief Mechanic had obviously been on the customer training course and offered to have a look. They did reduce the noise but it has continued and I have had to bite the bullet and buy a new Campag Record cassette and gear cable. I feel duped (because I have been). They told me that they had no idea what the bike had been used for at the Performance Centre (Boardman at fault here?). It is completely unacceptable for sales staff to have no idea what they are selling. If I bought a second hand car i would know how many miles it had done. So, if you are looking at buying an ex-display - be warned - ask exactly what it has done.
Paid for next day delivery at 14:00, only to have one part of the delivery arrive 2 days later. The other parts still haven’t even been dispatched. To make matters worse, they somehow got the address wrong on the box - it’s a weird combination of my shipping/billing addresses. I checked my confirmation email and I supplied the correct delivery address - someone must have really messed it up! I’m lucky they got the first line and the postcode right, otherwise it may have never arrived. The box that my pannier rack arrived in had no real protective packaging - not especially a problem for me but worth noting if you’re buying something expensive. TL;DR - don’t expect your stuff to be delivered next working day, even if you’ve paid £5 for delivery.
Cycle Republic, Margaret Street, W1W 8SB: Top man Michael - friendl and quick. Someone had nicked the wheel quick release front and back. Michael's box of spares had the missing pieces and got me home. thanks Michael
It took a little while to get my bike I ordered due to miscommunication (and my phone not working so that’s on me!) HOWEVER when I picked up my bike I had a wonderful service by the assistant Manager Matt from the Piccadilly gardens Manchester store. He was friendly and showed me the ropes without being patronising (as I’m new to the world of cycling!) kudos Matt I’ll definitley come to your store again.
Completely rubbish company (really Halfords in disguise) - made an online order for next day delivery and paid premium shipping cost. Three days later no sign of my order - and to add insult to injury understaffed call centre expects you to wait over 15 minutes for any reply and if you give up like me and resort to email (as they suggest) don't expect any reply to that either.
Disappointing. Went to Bristo, store to try some kids bikes, they only had one in his size that was unsuitable as it was a mountain bike and we didn't want that - but there are about 7 on the website to choose from. They told me a very small store so of course I understand. So I asked if we could get a couple in for my son to try. They told me they could only get one in to try, not a couple. How do you do this with a child! There are different frame styles (step pver and normal) and different gears (rapid fire and twist) - a child needs to try these things! Not sure how they expect to sell bikes if you can't try them out.
I wish I had read reviews in this website before I brought my bike to CR for a service. I experienced a problem with my brake pads immediately after my 'silver' service and took my bike to a local independent bike shop. They said my problem was caused by CR's lack of care and attention. I am a Brompton owner and a similar service with Brompton would have costed a little more. But now I feel that I'd much rather pay more and receive a proper, good service. CR is not a good value for money if this is the level of service they provide. I learned my lesson. Never again. I will definitely go to Brompton or my local independent shop for my next repair/service.
Poor service in Holborn branch Went there for some advice purchasing my first bike. I had a model in mind having done the research. Was hoping to be recommended a size, maybe try the bike and get some other options within the budget. While friendly and fairly keen to help, the staff wasn't knowledgeable at all, later on admitting he doesn't do any mountain biking. I managed to see the bike which for some reason was damaged but none of my questions were answered. I still don't know what size I need. I kind of wasted 40 minutes for nothing, spinning around the info I already had. Kindly being advice to order it for click and collect and be done with it. I left. I called the Oxford branch a few days later to check if they have the same bike in store. The staff had to call me back 2 times until I was able to find out all the information. In the end I got a 3rd call to inform me they actually don't have it and I should try another branch. Very poor customer service. Couldn't even do a stock check. If you don't want my money, no problem. I bought the bike somewhere else

Jul 10,2019Beware buying GTech bikes from Cycle Republic! I bought two GTech electric cycles from the Cheltenham branch. All was fine initially until after about a year of light usage it was noticed that the batteries were failing to accept a full charge and would max out at about 70-80% full. As they were still covered under warranty and were demonstrably defective I was confident of a speedy resolution to the problem. How wrong could I be? After a visit to the store in Cheltenham (an 80 mile round trip) and a discussion with an assistant there agreed that the batteries weren't charging! He contacted his head office and assured me they would be in touch. After two and a half months I gave up and contacted GTech themselves They appear to have abdicated all responsibility to Cycle Republic nowadays and refused to discuss the problem, instead they gave me a number for 'Customer Care' (total misnomer) When I eventually got through I spoke with someone who was palpably disinterested who said someone would get back to me (no one did!) I contacted GTech again on their Facebook page, again nothing. We are talking a total purchase if well over £2000 yet this is how they treat their customers?
