I have found my pain free EV charger install & subsequent support excellent. A charger at home makes life so much easier. Charger works well, it’s technology fascinates me. I have needed a little support, which has been quick, friendly & efficient. Overall I very much recommend this route to hassle free home EV charging.
Update feb 2024: 1 year since install, all is working well, however the organisation of Egg hasnt improved. I was sent a repeat invoice months after i had already paid. i have spend months trying to apply for the SEG payments and Egg didnt help provide my G99 number despite asking numerous times. On contacting Scottish power that say the G99 application was never paid by my installer so cant provide me with the export MPAN until this is paid. Still no help from Egg on this. Had to chase head office as my contact didn’t respond to emails. Ordered in august and when October came no response to emails. Ev charger fitted in end of November and given a date early in the new year a few weeks later for panels and battery fitting. I hadn’t heard anything with by the start of the week fitting was due on Friday. Eventually spoke to member on Thursday evening to say fitting was taking place. A further date was given the next week for about a month later. Wasn’t informed of when the scaffolding would be installed and fortunately left the side gate unlocked and installed that Friday with roofers due Tuesday. Electricians arrived in the Tuesday as planned and they were great to deal with a worked hard. Roofers didn’t show up for 2 days as the planned team weren’t given enough notice. Roofing team did come on the Thursday but the correct fittings haven’t been supplied so they couldn’t do their job. So have battery installed but no solar panels. Office only called after I emailed to chase up. Having taken so far 6 days off work I am not impressed and communication has been poor throughout. The stars are for the electricians who on site have been great. I couldn’t recommend from my experience Update 23.2.23 Last week, 7d after battery install then roofers arrived and fitted panels in one day. They brought their own slate roof attachments which seemed much better than the ones sent on from egg as they produced a very effective water seal as slate tiles had to be drilled rather than lifted. Electrician installer again was very helpful and communicated directly with me to inform me of the last minute change of plans as they came a day earlier. Another few days on and panels and battery working well. So all things told I’m happy with the products installed and the quality of the installation. I’ve had lots of communication in the last week from head office to explain the reasons behind the delays. It would have been better if I had been kept better informed over the past 7months. Supply chains I can understand have been irregular but a short email or call would have been been enough. Clearly coordinating the contractors and deliveries remains a challenge for the company and has only been saved by the top rate electrician installers.
Team were lovely when they arrived, got the job done quickly and made sure the wiring outside the house was tidy! The charger works fantastic! Luxury to be able to charge the car at home!
Very helpful and charming lady
Great product and company...been using it a year, fitter was efficient and informative, charger has been battered by the weather but still looks brand new and works perfectly. Company listens to customers feedback and are improving the app. Would recommend them if your thinking of purchasing an EV charger...especially given the guarantees and purchase options. A*****
Plenty of communication and a neat and tidy install. Very happy with our purchase. I would recommend Egg.
The actual company egg were great, had great contact from the customer service team and was really happy with all the help they gave me. They out sourced my charger fitting to another company who were awful at communicating anything and actually ended up fitting the wrong ev charger, this was no fault of eggs and I would defo recommend them but they may want to look into there fitting partnerships.
Painless experience from survey to installation. Very happy with my new PV system and Tesla power wall. Lovely install team, informative surveyor and tech support/aftercare has been second to none…well done egg you’ve “cracked it”
Installation went smoothly and the installers were expert. They did good job. Using the charger is also quite easy. Happy with service
Generally a positive experience, but felt a few glitches stopped it being seamless.
As at today, the jury is still out for me about Egg. When I first signed up for an EV charger I was impressed by the simplicity and speed of the process. Things started to unravel with the installation. The timeline shown on the Egg website clearly stated an install on 16 January but about 3 days before this date I was contacted by the installer, demanding yet more photographs and details over and above those that Egg had asked for. From the questions it was clear the the installation was never going to happen on the stated date as it had not even yet been planned. But full marks to the installer, recognising that I had been misled by the Egg website, they pulled out the stops to get the job done on 18 January. No real harm done, except for having arranged to be at home on the date of install, as I did not have my new EV at that point. Just a need for Egg and its suppliers to get their co-ordination better. I got my new car on 23 January and the charger itself has been unreliable from the off. Apart from some interface issues between the app and the charger, meaning you can't rely on whether the boost is actually working without going outside to check the charger, the most annoying fault is the red fault light coming on, requiring a full reset between charges. This has happened five times in a week. What is even more frustrating is the slow and patchy customer service. For a start, the quoted phone number 0113 815 5366 gets you nowhere. There is no technical support option amongst the three options offered - sales; extension number (if you know it); finance. The only contact is email or via chatbot but responses are protracted. As at today, and after three days since I reported the recurring fault, I'm told that Indra (the charger supplier) is looking at my data to try to establish the nature of the fault and if it can be remedied remotely. Fortunately, so far, I've not actually been without the means of charging my car but, if I were to be, this slow and ponderous technical support would not be remotely adequate. I'll reserve further judgment about Egg until we've moved on from here... Update 7 February An Egg engineer has attended to look at the charger and has made some adjustments. We were unable to test the charger as my car was already fully charged but he seemed confident he had resolved the issues causing the frequent need to re-set. Assuming this proves correct in use I'll be happy to revise my review rating upwards.
I really liked the communications, and how accessible the coordinator was, he also liaised well to fit in dates, initially it seemed like he was flexible as well with the cabling requirements. Quite a good personalised service. I approached several other EV installers and many were very expensive, inflexible with dates and had a long list of pre requisites, also wanting paying up front. I like how soon Egg were able to get the job done and the options they had for reasonable finance and service support for a few years. When approaching Egg/crackingenergy.com they provided an early date which was agreeable. Unfortunately, due to energy supplier needing to adjust my box/supply that date needed putting back, but even then Egg were accommodating with dates. Due to me not wanting the cable to run across the front outside of my house, I suggested cable be run via the loft, in order for this to be done it would require additional cost for the engineers time, I arranged directly and run the cable myself, presenting the ends at the necessary points. I paid directly for additional cable and cleats to do this, and cable was provided and extra taken away, but no cleats to secure the cable in the loft were provided. I wasn't too sure and didn't like the fact that the engineer who attended drilled a new hole for the earth cable into the metal chassis of the consumer unit, not using a gromit at a knockout point or even a rubber bung, perhaps a minor point and normal practice? I am unsure. He also drilled quite a way into one of my roof beams even after me suggesting the soffit was thin. However the engineer was friendly worked quickly and cleaned up the area he worked in. I enquired about solar and battery, but apparently there was no capacity in my area for these additional services. The charger has been fine and seems to work well with our EV, there is an easy to use mobile app which usefully gives an approximation of use and can provide history and downloads. Overall quite a good experience with a couple of minor blips.
I've had the charger installed for 2 weeks now and it hasnt gone a day without breaking and needing a fall reset. Flashing purple lights, Egg dont give a hoot hence why you cant contact them for support. I've been waiting 2 weeks and numerous emails to their support team and no body can be bothered to respond.
Tesla powerwall installation I'm very happy with egg and the installation of the powerwall after the DNO application process everything went as quickly as possible I can't thank them enough. The whole process was easy and they took the time to explain things that I wasn't sure about
The installation was the best part, couldn't speak highly enough of Pedro our installer on the day, did everything he could to make it a painless process in freezing weather. The product works really well - they just need to massively improve the control - there is no App, just a very clunky web portal, it's a real pain and needs improvement.
Fitted on the day and time (almost to the second) that it was booked in. Fitted very quickly and tidily with demonstration and app set-up by the installer.
the whole process was so easy. installation was on time and done without any issues. payment option was also so helpful.
The whole process from ordering on the Egg website, the survey by the installer and finally the install of the EV charger has been a smooth and easy process. Really do recommend this company if you are in the market for a EV charger, Competitively priced as well
Very quick, informative and tidy.

Feb 13,2023We had a reasonably complex installation with solar PV, a battery, a car charger and a solar diverter for our hot water tank. As an added issue our garage is some distance from the house and we had concerns about how the various bits of kit would talk to each other. Richard the system designer was meticulous in his approach and highly professional and approachable throughout the process. The electricians who did the install were very considerate, hard working and tidy. We have been living with the system for a month now and it hasn’t missed a beat. We would have no hesitation in recommending Egg’s service.
