May 19,2021This was a big decision for our family to obtain a reverse mortgage. I researched all the rates and fees. Then it boiled down to choosing the lender. Most are competitive, but a few were looking out for their best interest, (not ours). The key points I look out for are: honesty, integrity, responsiveness, (ability to communicate in a proactive way - (keeping us informed along the entire process), and education. By education I mean the agent should be able to explain things in laymen’s terms at times. I lucked out and found all of these traits and abilities in one person/company in Dave Schulte with Goodlife Home Loans. He was patient in communicating and helping us determine which program was in our best interest. I guess that’s what made it seem so effortless on our part. May 04,2021My 92-year-old father was concerned about the possibility of losing his home if he could no longer care for himself and would have to go into a nursing home. Since he doesn't have the financial ability to support the high monthly costs of living in a care facility, he (or his estate) would most likely lose his home to the state for "estate recovery." I looked towards a reverse mortgage as an option to give him peace of mind and the possibility of in-home health care for as long as possible if his health should take a turn. He is very active with no major health issues, takes care of his lawn, and bowls twice a week with scores in the 200's! I knew reverse mortgages have gained a bad reputation but I soon discovered that the industry now has better oversight and control and was worth checking out. I reached out to three different companies for information and rates. GoodLife Home Loans was one of them. Dave Schulte was our representative from GoodLife. Right from the start, he was professional, passionate, courteous, and above all, no high pressure. He takes the time to listen to your situation and needs and provides the answers and guidance necessary throughout the process. I didn't have quite the same experience with the other two competitors. A reverse mortgage may not be for everyone or every situation, but Dad now has the ability to draw funds to assist with home care, if it's ever necessary, and will not have to worry about monthly payments or losing his home for the remainder of his life.

The reason for this stress free wonderful experience was due to Dave Shulte. He was amazing! He is knowledgeable, professional and friendly. He took control and guided me through the entire process making it pain free. I would recommend him highly to anyone. I am going to miss our fun conversations since my loan is closed. He said he will always be there to support me in the future and I might just call him to say Hi.

Apr 28,2021With the recent reduction in mortgage interest and our reverse mortgage loan at 5%, the right decision to re-finance saving 2% was an easy one to make. The problem would be finding the right agent/officer to get the job done, as my prior agent/officer was terrific but no longer in the business. Having built a relationship with him, he generously referred me to a friend and associate of his still in the business, Dominick Rodriguez, who turned out to fulfill every point in the title I have given this review. Dominick was knowledgeable about the business and details of these loans, clearly experienced in this business and most importantly to me, having been self-employed all of my life, communicative. With the normal bumps and grinds in the road of getting a loan done, he was always there either by phone, text or email following up on his and the company's needs as well as mine....a highly valued guide through a difficult and tedious process. To me, communication is the key to a successful end, coupled with persistence and timing, in any business effort. And, although the loan, for all intents and purposes, has been finalized, Dominick is still assisting us with a detail that needs attention. Impressive and much appreciated. What a wonderful experience it was to have Brandon walk me through all of the process, approximately 4 months worth. He explained every step of the way and by the second month he was like family. He checked in with me every week whether there were updates or not, just to see if I was ok or had any questions. His level of compassion and concern was admirable.

Kathy at the local office is also very helpful. It is a frustrating process, but they remained friendly and concerned throughout.
