The all team was great and explained everything in details, in particular Helen Kelsall. At all times we knew what were the next steps and what to expect. Overall super happy with the service and knowledge provided. Thank you!
I had JMW for purchasing a flat and it was so hard to get in touch with my solicitor Hussain. You only get assigned 1 solicitor as opposed to other firms where they assign you also an assistant where they can just update you with minor things. However, because it was just Hussain, it was hard to get any updates from him and had to follow up with him multiple times. It took him 6 weeks before he would update the site to track where the process it, which could have just been done by an assistant. I understand he has a lot of clients to handle, but it was just the worst customer experience with him. As for the work, he missed a lot of details from the lease so make sure you also read them as he is very busy with all the other clients.
Helen Kelsall was brilliant, from the very first phone call she gave me all of the facts and assured me that she would do everything in her power to defend me. She was professional, courteous and represented me excellently. Would highly recommend.
I cannot thank James Sloane enough for his all his hard work in getting my claim a successful outcome. James has been brilliant from start to finish. I cannot recommend James & JMW highly enough.
JMW are a fantastic Solicitors, from start to finish Laura Roche has been amazing from start to finish. I felt completely reassured that I was priority and my case was dealt with very efficiently. I would highly recommend JMW to anyone who needs assistance as they will definitely fight your corner
Reviews for companies are usually full of highly emotive language and as buying a property is a stressful time, it is understandable that people are more highly strung around this time. I have written this some three weeks after completion and have have chosen to write a narrative of my experience, omitting any language which may not be helpful. Please find below a chronological account of my experience: Context: I am a first time buyer and moving from a rental property to buying my first place. Unfortunately as my estate agent let me down on a rental agreement between the termination of my tenancy and completion of my purchase, this made me homeless for what turned out to be 2 months. My solicitor was aware of this situation however the following occurred: My solicitor had to take time off (weeks) due to a family issue, this is absolutely understandable and will happen in life, this is not something out of the ordinary for any business. I would therefore assume that infrastructure is in place whereby the cases that the solicitor is currently managing are distributed amongst their colleagues and an email is sent out the client stating the circumstance and therefore who to aim your correspondence to. However, JMW did this: did not reply to a single email. I was not informed about the situation by JMW at all and instead only actually found out what was happening by my broker. He is a friend/ colleague of my solicitor. In total there were three weeks where NOTHING was done on my case, this is three weeks of paying for hotels. Secondly, poor communication: For the first two months (at least), my emails were never responded to and phone calls not picked up. They often went to voicemail in which the voicemail was full and therefore could not leave a message. The only time in which I had a response in this time is when I stated that I would no longer need their services as I would be using another conveyancer due to their poor responses. This email was replied to immediately. We are aware that businesses are focused on making money, of course, however there were so many instances where unfortunately this is too transparent. I will later give a big example of this. I was CC’d into some emails between my solicitor and the seller’s solicitor in which I experienced extremely poor communication, I was shocked by the lack of understanding of my solicitor. It is very clear, to me, that he had far too many cases on and clearly has a priority order in his mind of which cases complete when. His strategy for ensuring this priority order performs, is buying long delays between responses to emails in addition to making unreasonable requests of the vendor’s solicitor. His telephone etiquette is the following: tells me how busy he was and that he wasn’t ‘in front of a screen right now’…this is not helpful. There was an occasion that a call was scheduled, he never called. I therefore decided to call him 30mins later after the scheduled time, in which he told me that he was about to call me and was just looking over my case. His tone suggested that he was annoyed by the fact that I had phoned him. I, like most people, do not have time to be waiting around for the phone to ring. I always felt like I was treated as a job ‘on the side’, unless he treats all clients in this way. I seem to get the impression that he only ever took my calls when he was out and about? There were numerous occasions of him losing files and I had to send them over again, the organisation was obviously poor. When final contracts were sent across to me, I had numerous queries that were never answered. I had files sent that contradicted each other and no explanation to why. My Solicitor liked to give the impression that he was very thorough and was better than any other solicitor when in fact, this is not the case. E.g I had one file that had the correct lease length and another that had such a short lease length that a mortgage would not have been offered. This was never explained to me. My final bill was also £50k over what is should have been as he accidentally got it mixed up with another case. Two days before completion, it was noted there was a problem with my savings account statements. It was a savings joint account and this therefore affected gifting- as I have no legal education I was not aware of this, however as the client of what I thought was a quality solicitor, I’d have assumed that they would advise and take care of this. As most would assume, these savings accounts statements were first presented many months before completion and one would assume they would be checked over by a paralegal to mitigate and problems… this was not the case. The problem was actually picked up by my lender. I have more to say however character limit does not permit, please check my Google review.
Transparent about fees and clear cut advice. Everything was thoroughly reviewed beforehand and a sensible approach and guidance were provided.
Excellent communication throughout from Brigitta. This made a difficult situation more bearable and I would recommend her services to others.
JMW Solicitors have been truly exceptional in progressing my case and bringing it to a satisfactory conclusion. They were extremely helpful, supportive and professional at all times and I definitely felt they were on my side. Thankyou to Angharad, Claire and the team for all your hard work, its much appreciated.
Amazing service and great care and kindness shown by David. I was kept informed of every step and all my questions (and there were many) were answered within hours. David has been exceptional and made the whole process smooth and easy.
Disgraceful company. Were instructed by local council's social services to pursue court of protection guardianship for my estranged father, who had abused me from being an infant. When he died, they abandoned all efforts and wouldn't hand over any information. Presumably, the local authority who instructed them haven't paid the bill because, 3 months later, they're trying to get money out of me, his victim. They know he died intestate and therefore nothing can be accessed until administrators are appointed and probate is granted, not that I can afford legal assistance. I'm a lone parent to a disabled 6 year old, living on a combination of universal credit and student finance, trying to get my life back after 20 years of domestic abuse, and of course, a childhood ruined by my monster of a father. Also tried to rinse my pensioner cousin. Cannot believe they would use such underhand tactics to get their account settled. Just disgusting. AVOID! UPDATE: JMW requested further information via Trustpilot. Cue more emails from Trustpilot threatening to take down my review if I didn't provide more information to this company (case number, more contact details). Presumably so they can trigger me some more. UPDATE 2: 4 months on from their statement that they would investigate the matter (and browbeating me into giving them further information, to stop them having the review taken down) nothing has happened. Not that I want to have any further dealings with them but it just goes to show that their motivation was not investigation or restitution, but intimidation and suppression.
Great Professionals
We dealt with two people from JMW, Lucy and Ben. Both were extremely professional, polite, understanding and helpful, taking time to listen and giving their expert advice. I would definately recommend them.
I was represented by Helen Kelsall for a driving offence. She handled my case carefully and presented all mitigation diligently & professionally. The best possible outcome was achieved.
I cannot praise this firm enough (we dealt with Beverley and Holly). Going through a very difficult time they were with us every step of the way. We were always kept well informed and felt reassured that they would ensure the best outcome. We were also treated as people not just a case. Thank you both
During the period of 2022 - 2024 Claire Brierley from JMW dealt with an extremely difficult and contentious matter in relation to Estate Administration for me. Her advice was exemplary from the outset of instruction, without any emotive responses, continually and skilfully, steering all parties back to the matter in hand for a positive outcome. Claire always advised me of the pro’s and con’s in relation to action. Prompt responses during work hours and out of hours including weekends, in order to ensure all work was carried out in readiness for High Court hearings. Claire simply went over and beyond. Claire provided Fantastic recommendation for Counsel, who was Highly equipped to act in my matter. Claire worked closely with Counsel with full and complete appraisals all the way, keeping Counsel fully up to speed. Claire was professional and also supportive to me in this difficult and stressful matter. Quite simply her Client care was perfection, I always felt reassured and confident due to Claire’s superior expertise in these matters. I won this case at the High Court of which the High Court Judge ruled me as the Successor and costs was awarded to me. This outcome was because of Claire’s actions, robust advice and her efficiency in acting for me. I can honestly say I would NOT have been successful in winning this contentious case at the High Court had it not been for Claire’s attention and diligence in this matter. I would Highly recommend Claire Brierley and JMW for all legal matters you may have.
Claire has made this whole experience settling and calm always keeping me updated and got me my compensation cant thank you enough would definitely recommend
