I wish I had seen the reviews before sending my mobile to this so called company. They offered a good price then dropped by 97%. They also said it was scratched quite a bit and had a crack in the glass, for which it did not when I sent it. They are mis-leading, dishonest not legitimate and are scammers. Avoid at all costs!!

Utterly misleading. They give you a price and then do not honour it, coming up with reasons to reduce the price. Keep clear of this.

quote high, lower the price on inspection every time i sent a nearly new phone with a valuation of £261. they dropped the price to £156 on inspection due to extreme wear and tear. RIDICULOUS. i got the phone back and sent to another provider who offered me full quoted price. beware of this company. i would not use again.

I have used this company a few times in the past and had mixed results. However I decided to use them again to sell my phone, 1 because I already knew them, and 2 because they offered me the highest amount for my phone. After receiving my phone and offering me a drastically lower valuation as they deemed my phone to be scratched, I decided to try to argue the case as I had photographic evidence of my phone before postage in like new condition. HOWEVER this is where the fun really begins! I received literally no response to my enquiries via email or to their call centre for a total of 20days! 10 of those days I was also without payment for my phone as my offer was 'automatically accepted'. Thats 10 days with my phone gone, no payment for it, and no-one at the other end. It took a direct letter to their head office with a weeks ultimatum threatening contact to trading standards and the financial ombudsmen for me to get my money, and an emailed response (not even an apology). I have replied to that email to again try to argue about the 'damage', and guess what, I've had no reply back! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Go for a trusted company, even if they offer a lower amount for your phone as you will at least be dealing with a reputable company that you can trust to deal with.

Was offered £207 for Huawei Mate 10 Pro 128GB with screen protector fitted in good condition. Got paid £155 as according to them, "Phone has discoloration on the corner of the bezel." I will use the Magpie next time!

Sent a brand new Samsung S9 off to them and after a week without payment, I attempted to contact them using the phone number listed. After 48 unanswered calls over the 3 days, I e-mailed them demanding my phone back or I would take matters further. This prompted them to make me an offer of £120 less than their quote due to "scratches on the case and screen". As the phone had never been used, I knew this was a con. I demanded my phone be sent back to me immediately which they did within 48 hours. I then sent it off to Music Magpie who paid me the full amount within 72 hours of sending the phone off. Avoid these con artists like the plague.

DO NOT USE, absolute dishonest clowns, I sent a near perfect S7 edge to them and they emailed me back a low offer because of fine scratches on the screen and some light screen burn on the white start up screen. The fine scratches could only be seen if you looked at it close up, the phone always had a case so it was like new, the white screen burn didn't even exist, reading the reviews from other people it seems they pull the screen burn trick quite a lot so I got the phone sent back and used Samsung recycling service and I received more money than MCM after their low ball offer. Samsung paid up in full and no mention of scratches or screen burn so do not use MCM they are pure rip off merchants.

I used mobilecashmate to recycle a Samsung Galaxy S8. The phone was in ‘like new’ condition as I had just had it repaired by my phone insurer and it was protected with bubble wrap when posting. They never sent me emails confirming receipt of the phone or a cash offer. I had to call them several times to ask for an update. When I made contact, they offered me much less than the original quote, claiming that there were light scratches on the back of the phone. I said it was unacceptable offer and requested that they post the phone back to me. Almost two weeks later I had to call again to ask why I hadn’t received the phone, and they advised me that they had mistakenly still recycled the phone. They still didn’t meet the original quote and left me no choice but to take a reduced amount. They claim that they had been sending me emails since receipt of the phone, but this seems strange considering it is the second time using mobilecashmate, and I did receive emails the first time (they didn’t meet the quoted amount the first time either). I won’t use them again and urge everyone else not to either.

Absolute joke of a company. They lure you in with high-value prices, saying "you could get this for your phone" then they make up crappy excuses saying "there are scratches and scuffs" so offer you 10% of what they originally offered you. Most people can't be bothered and accept the crap value - and that's exactly what they want. Absolutely shameful company.

Disgraceful. After sending my Galaxy Note 8 in to this joke of a company based on an online valuation of £300, I was contacted to say that my phone had scuffs, scratches and screen-burn so was only worth £30. Considering the phone was in pristine condition and had been in a case since I bought it not even a year ago, I knew this was entirely fictitious. Had it sent back and went to Vodafone who gave me £260 and said it was as new condition. Avoid these cowboys! They will just waste your time.

AVOID! Was selling my 2 year old Samsung Galaxy S6 as had it up graded. Never had any issues with the phone. Never dropped, scratched or damaged as was in a cover from the day of purchase. Was offered £83.20 on online appraisal. Sent phone off to only receive a response telling me phone was only worth £8.32 (they claimed there was scratches on the bezel and screenburn. Find this hard to believe as the screensaver kicks in within 30 seconds, so talking utter rubbish!!) Requested phone back and took it to Cex where we were offered £80 as it was obvious phone was in perfect working order with no damage. Do NOT use this company. They clearly want to rip you off!!!

They send you a freepost envelope for your phone, but never any payment ( or only a fraction of the phone's value). It will never be what they have quoted in your initial contact with them. My contacts with them I have never received ANY payment at all. Simpler and better to just go to a charity shop or sell on e bay ( if an expensive phone)

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY They offered me £112 for my 2 year old Samsung 6e. They acknowledged receipt of it the day after I sent it and paid £7 to send it. I heard nothing so sent an email on 14 Jan they did not acknowledge. Rang them today to be told that I had 10 days to respond to the offer of £11.20 and as I hadn't they have paid me the low offer. I said I hadn't received the email they said that virgin media was a problem for them and it had probably gone into spam email. I asked for them to send to my bt internet and they said they and talk talk were both problem emails for them. I asked for my phone to be returned and they said too late it's been recycled as you didn't respond. Do not use this appalling company. If you do manage to get an answer when you ring them they are extremely rude and unhelpful in fact they are dismissive.

DO NOT USE!! I was really very disappointed. I recently sent them my mobile phone in perfect condition but I found their services to be quite appalling. They emailed me back once they had received it stating it was all scratched, blurred screen and wear and tear. The phone had neither of these things and was in very good condition. In fact it is like new. I feel they have wasted my time and are not a company I will be dealing with again nor will I be recommending them to anyone!! THIS COMPANY NEEDS REPORTING!!

Would be no stars if I could. Advertised £116 for a phone and then when I sent it off, costing £7.30p, they offered me £15. I am waiting for it to be returned. Someone really needs to contact Trading Standards about these bandits, they shouldn’t be allowed to trade. Just so you know - I got £85 for my phone from music magpie, no quibbling and post paid from them.

Offered £517 and then dropped to £384 saying the phone was scuffed. Phone was kept in case with screen protector all the time I had it. Photos taken before sending show no marks at all.

Massive Scam. They offered £85 for my Galaxy S6. I had screen covers for the front and back for the 2 years I had the phone, and it was in great condition. I also took photographs of the front and back screens before I packaged the phone as proof. Gleaming, like new. Sent the phone to mobile cash mate. They said it had 'dents and scratch marks' and offered me £8 ! A disgrace, plain and simple. They misrepresented the true condition of this phone to lower the price unacceptably. Scam of the highest order. Do NOT go near them. You've been warned.

I was offered £190 in store by Carphone Warehouse when upgrading my phone. When I picked it up their machine was faulty so couldn’t take my phone as a trade-in. I looked on the web and found good old Mobile Cash Mate. They offered me £217 so I sent it to them via special delivery. Once received they then offered me £162 on the basis that there was damage to the back of the case and the screen. There were some small speckles of paint missing from the back but absolutely no damage to the front. This was totally made up. I asked for a breakdown of their valuation and their fault-finding but they ignored this. I rejected their paltry offer and had the phone sent back to me. I then took it back to carphone warehouse and the guy said it was in mint condition and he couldn’t believe the screen was in such good condition. I got £190 as promised. Don’t be tempted by MCM’s alluring offers. They are just chancers and rely on people going along with the “re-evaluation” as they can’t be bothered to resell it or that it’ll get damaged when returned. Avoid like the plague and opt for a reputable purchaser.
