Jan 03,2025Our property in Southsea was perfect, handy for the seafront and walking, close to shops and amenities. It was decorated for Christmas which was lovely. Parking was ample and simple. Our family all had their own space but plenty of communal opportunities. Communications from Oliver's Travels were always reassuring and helpful. Overall ... marvellous!

Jan 03,2025Great house, very well equipped and beautifully presented, with lots of personal touches. Spacious, great that everyone had their own bathrooms, 2 sitting rooms if anyone needed to escape. Great kitchen, with tonnes of cookware and utensils.

Dec 30,2024A very unhappy experience with Oliver's Travels. We'd booked an anniversary trip in Feb for Sept to stay in a lovely apartment in the heart of Lisbon's old town. We'd made all our plans around the location, so we could enjoy walking everywhere, had researched and chosen local restaurants, etc. Two weeks before leaving, we were sent an email (starting with a cheery "I hope this finds you in good spirits"!) telling us our accommodation had been cancelled as the property owner had sold it! They offered us one alternative property miles away in an area we had no interest in. We then had a stressful few weeks desperately searching for somewhere to stay. There was little availability and we had to stay somewhere we never would have chosen and much more expensive. We were shocked by their response. Apologetic, but only with words. It seems that there are no penalties for their property owners if they cancel at such short notice, so they clearly didn't have a robust contract in place. After much to-ing and fro-ing to try to get some accountability and compensation for ruining what was supposed to be a special trip and causing a lot of stress and inconvenience, they offered us a few hundred pounds of credit. But this can only be used for a future booking with them, and only for up to 50% of the cost. As we clearly wouldn't risk booking with them again, or giving them any more money, the credit is worthless to us. Our experience taught us that there's no benefit to booking with this third party agent. When things went wrong, they were dreadful and took no responsibility whatsoever. Many if not all of the properties they market actually seem to be available independently and cheaper. They're often called a different name but a bit of research will find them. I'd give them a wide berth and we'll continue to tell everyone we know. It seems very short-sighted and damaging to their brand and reputation to treat customers like this when things go wrong at their end.
