My cordless phone did not work with PP. I had to buy a new one to get a dial tone. I have a few dead spots in my home but I will see how it goes.
I was really excited when I signed up for Phone Power and paid for a year in advance. However, I was teaching each time they called to confirm the account and couldn't answer my phone. Every time I called them back, their phone service disconnected me. So I tried live chatting. Their "live chat" isn't an actual live chat-it sends a message, to which they never responded. I received error messages when I tried to send emails through their system. I also sent multiple emails-to every single email they have listed on their website, including photo documentation of the attempts I'd made to contact them. I never received a single response. I continued calling the following week and was finally able to get through to an actual person. After arguing with me about whether or not I had actually tried to contact them, she claim she canceled my order. Although I can no longer log in online, I didn't receive an email confirmation that my order was canceled, and I haven't received a refund. As I've already waited several days, I will be contacting the better business bureau in a day or two if I don't receive it before then. This is the worst, shadiest business I've ever dealt with. Please save yourself the time, effort, and money, and use an alternative company.
I'm using an OBIHAI device purchased on Amazon. Setup required some patience and trust, but the service was very reliable over the first 30 days. As you would expect, the number port took a little time. In my case, the port had a small additional cost as well, but I have no complaints about the service thus far.
I've been experiencing dropped callls all the time right during the middle of a conversation. I haven't had it that long but so far I can't rate it any higher.🤔
My approach was handle with good answer. The case was handle in fast manner. The web site is a little slow to open, it may be simplified thru out the steps.
We've had a few little glitches with our phone since receiving it a few weeks ago. But Phone Power's customer service is AMAZING! First off, you get to speak with someone in the US who speaks English as their first language. And those people also know EXACTLY what to do to fix the problem. They know about different brands of modems, settings, and other tech stuff. And they don't insult you or waste your time asking if the thing is plugged in.... The phone service itself is also very clear, and the options for call forwarding and such work perfectly.
After about a month I can say the call quality is excellent, both domestic & international. International rates are very competitive, the main reason I chose Phonepower Their web interface could use some improvements. (1) A faster server. I'm spoiled, I like fast servers rather than Phonepowers that takes 15 seconds to respond. (2) Custom Caller ID would be nice - the ability to assign a caller ID to numbers who call me. (3) The ability to block callers by caller ID would be nice rather than block only a phone number as currently available. Telemarketers can & do call from different numbers but they frequently show the same CID. Enough.
WE'VE BEEN USING THE SERVICE FOR MORE THAN A MONTH AND ARE VERY PLEASED. WE HAD A COUPLE OF CHANCES TO COMMUNICATE WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE AND, WHILE A LITTLE SLOW IN RESPONDING, WE CAN IMAGINE THEY ARE OVERWHELMED WITH NEW CUSTOMERS.
Every thing i was looking for in a home phone
I have used 4 VoIP providers over the past 10 years with Phone Power being the most recent. I started with Vonage and was pleased with the service and web interface but they had the highest cost. The service was solid and the tools were the best at the time. I next switched to Charter since they offered a slightly lower rate. The voice quality and dependability was as good as Vonage but the web interface and tools were not very robust. After deciding to 'cut the cord', we decided drop both the Charter TV and VoIP in favor of keeping their high speed broadband only. At that point we switched to MagicJack for one year which proved to be a very inexpensive (approx. $3.40/mo) but extremely inferior service. Voice quality was poor, dropped/missed calls, spotty voice messaging, and an unreliable web tool. Finally, we moved to Phone Power which has proved to be a very good service providing excellent voice quality, good fax support, extensive web tool interface with many call list, blocking, and other time saving options. The cost is very nice at just a few dollars more per month than MagicJack for many times the service.
the worst service ever. i did a chat and asked how much my bill would be. NO where did it ever tell me it would be in american funds as i am canadian, so when i went to check my cc it took out 33.00. mabey you need to update that so canadians know what they are getting themselves into
Easy to order but messed up by calling my cable company and canceling my entire cable service, not just the phone number.
I wanted to take time to provide as clear and detailed review of Phone Power. I have appreciated the available service from Phone Power and am hopeful that my problems may be resolved. Voice calls seem to work fine (with the exception of ‘My problems' below) The quality is OK, not great there are times when certain calls are not as clear as I would like. I like the voice mail application and the ability to have voice mail automatically forwarded to your email, that’s really NICE. I like the fact that incoming FAX items can be also forwarded to your email. I like the ‘cloned’ line feature that allows me to keep my FAX connected to the phone line. My problems are: FAX not working outside of my area code, Calls placed from my people who are using my old phone company ‘Cox communications’ get a message Phone number you called is out of service. I have been trying to help Phone Power technicians resolve my FAX issue and it’s been about a month and it still isn’t working. Fortunately I do send a lot of FAX documents. The issue with people who call and get a message that my phone number is disconnected may not be Phone Power’s problem, but a problem with Cox. The jury is out on this one and I’m waiting to see if it can be successfully resolved by Phone Power. Cox is of NO help, I’ve tried to get them to address it. So I am hesitant to give Phone Power a great review at this point in time. If the two calling issues above are resolved I will gladly improve my rating, but at this point I’m a bit frustrated. Time will tell and if things go well I will modify this review (if I can).
Several features do not work as advertised and all support would do is place the blame elsewhere. Some of the advertised features are still in beta testing. Support reps were cocky and apathetic about resolving the several issues I faced with their service. The website was difficult and confusing to use for configuring features. Even support had difficulty guiding me through configuring some of the features. It's not a matter of just enabling a feature; you have to jump through hoops to get some of them to work.
My husband does not care for cell phones and we live on a limited budget and this saves us over $20.00 a month.
The service is pretty good. The price is competitive with the O I lan. Hassle free too.
Enjoying the Service.
Only 2 1/2 months with the service and so far so good, no issures
PhonePower sign up was very painless. BYOD worked pretty well, but did require using their online chat with support to get the provisioning executed. They even did a follow-up call to ensure all was working fine. The transfer of the landline phone number was a little bit tricky. Although the right land line number was provided, they almost transferred my cell phone number, somehow the contact info made its way into the request. Fortunately, a quick support chat and emails straightened that out. Like that the international rates are way lower than the competition like Vonage or Ooma that are more well known. The Phone Power desktop app needs updating, as it does not work well with the new beta phone manager settings. Call quality is the same to my POTS (which really was already VoIP by the phone company anyway), and after two months of usage can recommend to other individuals.

Oct 16,2016It was a good choice upgrading to Phone Power. I no longer have problems with international calls. Just not quite happy with the fact that I was not able to personalize voice mail greeting .
