Sep 26,2024I chose Russell & Russell for our purchase as they are local to us and I’d heard horror stories about big conveyancing firms. We were willing to pay extra for a good service. Now the job got done and we were probably very lucky that we completed within 3 months, although there were no chains to worry about either side. But what frustrated us was the lack of communication from our solicitor. I don’t wish to bad mouth him on an open forum but it’s more as way of feedback to the company. It took three attempts of contacting our solicitor to discuss a few initial questions we had before he got back to us, and one of the questions which related to paying more for the house than the valuation. This ended up causing us a major headache where we were being told that it could be fraud! That was a complete shocker and caused us some amount of anxiety. Turns out the lender just needed to amend the offer. Our purchase had three titles which we wanted to discuss but we got very little response, we’d have thought a land lawyer may have been pleased that his client would want to discuss the detail. The week we were due to complete, we found out he was on annual leave all week via his out of office. The out of office didn’t say who would be managing his files whilst he was away. Nor did we receive an email from him to say ‘I’m aware you’re due to complete this week, XXX is handling my cases’. We can’t imagine that many clients would complete in the same week, so it wouldn’t be too onerous of a task to communicate this with said clients. Unfortunately, this led to an email to his supervisors to prompt a response. Karen Peall saw us through to completion and was much more responsive and personable. Ann Kimblin would always respond too, even if it wasn’t the answer we were looking for. We don’t want this to sound like a ranty review, but client care is a requirement of solicitors firms and we just don’t feel like we got the service that we were hoping for. It’s put us off using Russell & Russell in the future.

All the staff involved in our conveyancing transaction were extremely helpful, and always happy to give advice and updates. Sep 12,2024This was an email I was going to send to the solicitor representing me and thought it’s pointless, as it won’t be taken empathetically, instead as an offence and I will shouted back …and be use I need to get my job done I’ll have to back offf… But honest I could get the local corner shop guys to mover quicker and work more efficiently and dilegently and communicate…forget about communicate effectively…just communicate .. Hi ….. and team I am really tired, having spent all my morning and most of my afternoon just trying to reach yourself or anyone your team over a telephone. Just to try and follow up on the email sent a j yesterday requesting a solicitor and a quote for a counter signature for the personal guarantee. The last time I spoke to a member Sue , who put me on hold to go and find an update and put me on hold until the line got cut and then never called back. If one claims she called back , the evidence doesn’t exist in my call list. How can no one be available in the office for the whole morning.. So I cannot call anyone , no one will call me, cannot speak to any right person and will not get a speedy email response. What’s one supposed to do other than feeling stuck! The purchase process started end of April 2024 and it’s middle September now… Sitting at the finish line , scratching my head , no clue , no control , in the blind if anyone is even. Looking into the case What a lousy lousy frustrating experience!
