Daniel Olewnik offered quick answers to all the questions I had, and even had the answers to questions I hadn't thought of asking. His manner was compassionate, attentive, very personable showing his experience in Customer Service. I've had a pretty challenging few days, and I have to say that the conversation I had with him about storing my property actually lifted my mood! I didn't think that a phone contact about storing property could be uplifting - but there you go! There are just some thoroughly good and nice people around, and Daniel is one of them. Thank you, Daniel, and Safestore.

Jade has been an absolute star and exceptional at her job, her knowledge is vast and she absolutely goes above and beyond to ensure the customers requests are met. I'm a long standing customer and definitely feel my belongings are secured and at affordable rate. I wouldn't consider moving elsewhere at this current time as I wouldn't want to replace the service received from Jade. She's definitely an asset.

Had a terrible experience with Safestore. I originally had two storage units and decided to upgrade to a larger one. I was offered a great rate, booked it, hired movers, and turned up ready to go. When I arrived, I was told — without any apology — that the rate was a “system error” and I’d have to pay a much higher price. Movers had to go home, I lost money, and obviously didn’t proceed. I told them I’d go with another warehouse instead. A week later, after moving out, they still charged me for one unit — and were about to take money for the second — despite me giving reasonable notice. Luckily, I cancelled one direct debit in time. The other? I ended up losing £400–£500 with no refund. Their excuse? “We changed the terms.” But I only received one email (buried among their many marketing emails), so I wasn’t properly informed. No apology, no compromise — just a brick wall. In short: they can change terms whenever they want and hide the notice in a generic email. Zero accountability. Wouldn’t recommend.

In my honest opinion, do not do business with this company. I seriously question their integrity. When I first signed the contract for my unit, they clearly told me that if I gave them two weeks' notice, they would refund the unused portion of my rental period. That was a key factor in my decision to go with them. But at some point, without my consent, they changed the terms. Now, even if I give two weeks' notice, I’m still forced to pay for the full month. Their justification? The notice period in the contract supposedly gives them the right to modify terms whenever they want. I find this completely unfair and unethical. Changes like this should only apply to new customers, not to those who signed based on the original agreement. Once you've moved all your storage items in, it’s a massive hassle to switch providers—something they clearly count on. Had I know about this terms up front, I would never have chosen to use their service. This kind of bait-and-switch is not how a reputable business should operate. I highly recommend avoiding them altogether. I can see that I am not the only with this experience as others have also shared their frustration with this practice in bad faith.

NOT a good experience with Safestore unfortunately. Just beware of the stringent rules regarding notice. If the 14 day notice goes into the next invoice period you will be charged for the full month extra. I vacated the storage unit on March 13th and am having to pay up until April 25th, so 6 vacant weeks of not using the facility. TOTALLY INFLEXIBLE admin system - I'll be going to an independent storage company next time that care about getting repeat custom.

DO NOT USE IF YOU ARE PLANNING LONG TERM USE. The one year discount seems glorious. We have been paying £203.74 a month inclusive of VAT and store protect for one year. I have just received a renewal quote for a second year at £325.74 a month (over a 50% increase because my “one year new customer discount has expired”) we are saving for a mortgage and have the contents of our one bedroom flat stored here hopefully to fill our house when we buy one. Although unlikely that we’ll be able to buy any time soon with scammers like this adding +£1400 a year to our quote, their new storage price quote is half the price of renting a flat. I can understand inflation and I can understand price increase but this is absolutely criminal and zero justification to amount it has increased by. I spoke with store workers over the phone who basically told me I either front the payment or move on to a different store “like you do with car insurance when your insurance won’t price match”. Yes sure, I’ll just take a days unpaid leave to lug our entire contents out to somewhere else. Please avoid at all costs.!!!!!!

The ladies at the Oldham store were absolutely amazing, super friendly, Zara and I apologise I can’t remember the other ladies name that was working Saturday morning 22nd March made me feel incredibly welcome, didn’t try to upsell just gave me what I needed, very personable approach, top service, easy process, great customer service would highly recommend
