Amazing experience!! I did my medical placement in Vietnam for four weeks, which was the best thing I've ever done. You only need to let yourself live the experience to the fullest, and everything will make sense. The local team in Vietnam are AMAZING! They are always ready to help. They are funny and kind and look after us. I would repeat this experience just because it felt like home.

I had the most incredible time in Costa Rica. Nicola and the team were beyond helpful & the research assistants on camp were lovely. Special shoutout to Issy, Blanche, Jack, Christi, Juan & Victor for being so great to all of the volunteers, you made everyone feel so welcome. This project is situated on a remote island, and you struggle to get phone signal however, embrace this. I felt so fulfilled and genuinely enjoyed not having access to social media. I saw monkeys, sloths, stingrays and so much more in the wild and how rare is that! An experience I’ll never forget with new friends from all over the world!

I recently completed my volunteering project in Tanzania. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with open arms by the program coordinators. Their warmth and hospitality made me feel at home instantly. The hospital staff were amazing and always welcomed us with love and gratitude. The cultural immersion was another aspect that stood out to me. I had the opportunity to learn Swahili, participate in local traditions, and understand the rich cultural heritage of Tanzania. This deeper cultural connection enriched my experience and allowed me to build genuine relationships with the people I worked with. The program was well-organised , and the support from the staff was exceptional. They ensured that we were well-prepared, safe, and able to make the most of our time there. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to make a difference while experiencing a beautiful and vibrant culture.

I spent two weeks in Ghana on the medical programme! From the second we got into Ghana to the second we left, Dinah and the team were so welcoming and helpful! They were friendly and supportive and put on amazing activities such as a trip to the market, stilt villages and a coconut walk for all the volunteers. From my time in Ghana I met some amazing people who i now call friends and have some wonderful memories and eye opening experiences. The locals were also fantastic, from Tina’s to the surf schools eveybody was so kind with a great sense of community. I’m so grateful I made the decision to do my medical placement through the mighty roar as they have been fantastic!

I did the travel and experience in Sri Lanka and it was so easy because everything was planned for us and almost all meals planned and paid for so we could just focus on having a good time. I can’t imagine having to travel round myself and planning anything and the stress.

I had the most amazing time volunteering in Tanzania. I loved every second of it, and this was due to the amazing staff at the comfy stay hostel. They never failed to make me smile, by providing 3 meals a day, drinks whenever you needed them (at a very small cost), lifts to explore Moshi whenever, clean clothes and so much more. I cannot thank these staff enough. I loved the childcare project, I found it so rewarding to support the children. However, I found it more worthwhile to support at the Masai school, Emmanuel was so supportive in allowing this to happen. The day trips were absolutely incredible, the waterfall was beautiful. I also really recommend a trip to the orphanage, the children are so well looked after, and they really appreciate visitors. The children are also so grateful for any donations. Whilst the room I was staying in was not the best, it did not ruin my experience. The accommodation was quite poor compared to England however it is important to remember that you are in Africa, the rooms were luxury compared to the locals. The drivers at the hostel deserve a massive thank you, for acting like a personal bodyguard, taking you wherever, whenever you want. Rama and Daniel in particular were amazing. Also, Alice was superb in arranging these lifts. I want to say a massive thank you to all of the staff at the Comfy Stay Hostel, you are all amazing. The staff in the restaurant also deserve praise, Ally, Beatrice and Dennis were so kind and attentive. Even remembering my name within the first day, which makes such a difference in an unfamiliar environment. Thank you all :)

I came to Ghana for 5 weeks to do the teaching programme. The team in Ghana were so helpful the minute I got here, Dinah is the most kind and caring woman she will help you with absolutely anything and you can tell her anything. The teaching program was a lovely experience it was so rewarding. I will say that after a week of being here it was summer school so we had to plan everything and there were no Ghanaian teachers to support us so the children were very disruptive however they are so welcoming, I’ve made friendships I will forget. The children are so grateful for everything! The activities put on for us volunteers are great too it’s lovely to do different activities and see the local culture like drumming and the market. My experience here has been nothing but amazing and I’m so sad to be leaving! Thank you Dinah you are amazing xoxox

The most amazing experience of my life! As a first time solo traveller I was so nervous before I went to South Africa but I really didn’t need to be! From the moment I got picked up at the airport to the moment I got dropped back off there two weeks later, I had the best time. Everyone was so lovely, the experiences were once in a lifetime and the accommodation and food was great! I’ve honestly made some friends for life and have created memories that will stay with me forever. I cannot recommend the Big 5 programme in South Africa enough! Nicky and Justin at Amakhala were faultless, so kind, friendly, funny and informative and were always available if you needed something. Chris at TMR was so helpful, if I had any questions he was only an email away! Hands down the best thing I’ve ever done and if you are thinking of doing it, just go for it! I promise you won’t regret it!!! I’m already planning my trip to return next year!!

A group of us spent 4 weeks in Tanzania, volunteering at St Josephs Hospital. The hospital itself has most of the main departments as well as theatre allowing us to experience it all. Even though we all had our main speciality, we were allowed to move about the hospital and experience all the specialities, even able to go to the bigger hospital that had facilities such as Psychiatry and NICU unit which St Josephs did not. I feel like this was a nice touch as we were able to see and do a lot more. The staff and patients were very nice and would try to involve you if they could, language permitting... We all stayed at Summit lodge which was very good, as it was in a nice area which meant you could walk about, and not having to rely on the drivers. All the staff and the drivers were excellent and really made the experience. Special mention to Ray and Zach they went above and beyond. When not at placement, there were multiple day trips offered such as every Wednesday playing football against the Masai, which were all good. There's also loads of nice cafes/restaurants nearby including Kilihome- would highly recommend

I wasn't sure whether to give a four or five star review but because of how great the staff were I felt that 5 stars was more appropriate. You might get sick of the food if you're there for a long time but if you need anything the staff will do their best to help. Thank you to Ayomi in particular.

The staff are all very accommodating and try their best to make sure everyone is having a good time. We did the weekend safari and travel trip, I would have liked a bit more safari for what we paid as it was only about 2-3 hours on one day of an entire weekend away. Perhaps a boat safari as well? The medical placement was eye opening and definitely requires students to be proactive to get the most out of their placements as you are left at the hospital on your own to learn. Overall had an amazing experience seeing the country and witnessing the medical care, would recommend the company to anyone as felt very safe in their accommodation and they genuinely care for all of their visitors.

I had an absolutely life changing time volunteering with the mighty roar in Tanzania, this couldn’t have been done without the staff out there (particularly those in the hostel and the drivers) making sure all our needs were met and that we were safe 24/7

Tanzania was easily the best 4 weeks I’ve ever had. The programme was extremely well run and I always felt safe everywhere I was. The extra opportunities and excursions that I was able to do while out in Moshi was really amazing and I feel so grateful for my experience. The childcare programme was also fab and the kids were so lovely too! Emmanuel was particularly helpful and supported me as I started my process in sponsoring a child so that they’re able to go to school. The accommodation of Comfy Stay Hotel is really lovely and all of the staff were super accommodating and very friendly to be around - it was truly a really nice place to stay. Overall it was such an incredible experience and everyone was always so helpful in any queries I had! - my only note of criticism that is so small is that one day a Massai lady needed to take her child to hospital as it was really badly burnt and we took them on our way home from childcare, we waited for an hour at the hospital where I (and another girl) were asked to go in and wait with the mother and child. After finding out they were being admitted we left and got back into the van. As we had got to the van we were then asked by Naomi if we had paid for the mother and child to which we said no, she then proceeded to say ‘why not’ and mention that she would go back and tell the mother she would have to pay for the weeks stay in hospital herself. All of us in the van then felt quite guilt tripped into paying and handed over the cash that was needed. This was such a minor small event that put the tiniest downer on the experience as a whole but we felt as a group the way it was gone about wasn’t right. We felt bombarded and guilted into paying and that a different approach to asking for the money would have been better. We didn’t like how we were just expected to cash up and pay - although we were happy to help, the whole scenario of what happened as a group I feel like was approached incorrectly. However in general I look back on my time with positive views and feel so grateful I had such an incredible experience and would easily recommend this to anyone.

The most amazing experience! The team were so incredible and happy to answer any of our questions. It was very well organised and relaxed, there were a range of amazing activities, that you could do if you wished- there was always something you could be doing. I was there 3weeks and it was the best 3weeks of my life. You form such a strong bond with the kids and the other volunteers. I would love to hopefully come back. Thank you to the whole team for giving us the most amazing experience!!
