I spent 4 weeks in Tianyar doing the marine conservation volunteering and had the most amazing time. The volunteering is well set up, Danda and the local fishermen are a lot of fun to work with and the work feels very impactful. Camp is well equipped with everything you need, basic in some areas but clean and all the staff will try their best to help you however they can. Thank you to the whole team for a fantastic time and I hope to be back out soon.

TMR organised my weekend trip, and shoutout to the angel herself Vani!! She cares so much about the work she does and goes above and beyond to make your trip special. She was always replying when I had a question or was worried, and always checked in to see how I was doing. I’ve had such a lovely time in Hanoi with so many cool experiences I wouldn’t have been able to do alone, so I’m so grateful that they organised this for me, thankyou for everything ❤️

I had the most incredible experience volunteering to teach English in Thailand. Winyoo was exceptional at organising everything – trips to different schools and also tourist activities, which meant that we not only had a meaningful experience teaching but also got to explore and immerse ourselves in Thai culture. The teaching itself was incredibly rewarding and the community was warm and welcoming. I would definitely recommend.

Nakavango Conservation Program ('Vic Falls Big 5' via TMR) is the best run, most affordable and accessible conservation experience I should think possible. Facilities, food etc were excellent and I could happily have spent more than my four weeks there. The guides are wonderful. The reserve is a gorgeous patch of bush and a gem I hope will be protected for time immemorial. My only caution would be that while I gained experience with reserve management and african wildlife generally, if you're looking for a purely research focus you would have to arrange that yourself.

My experience was a 10/10. The staff were so nice, and everyone around was super friendly. They provided everything we needed—even drove us to our placement and into town. They made it fun by organising different events, like weekend trips and weekday outings. Honestly, every single day was amazing. I really enjoyed my placement, learned a lot from the doctors and the nurses, and got to do everything I planned to in the hospital.

I can wholeheartedly recommend undergoing a trip to Vietnam via TMR. The Outreach Vietnam, the local organization, is a group of wonderful people. You feel at home very quickly, as everyone is exceptionaly friendly and welcoming. I would visit the Outreach Vietnam team anytime again.

Where to begin. My time at Amakhala has been one of the best experiences of my life. From the work to the team I cannot fault it. There was not a day that went by where we didn’t experience or learn something new. Spending loads of time on the game reserve helping the ecology team and in the local community with the children gave my days in South Africa a purpose. Our activities differed from day to day. a typical week would consist of: helping the children with homework and sports practice at the school, feeding scheme in the local village, predator monitoring, fence patrol, bush cutting, road maintenance, waterhole checks and helping the Amakhala Foundation. On a Friday would be a fun activity such as canoeing, bush camp, bush walk, hiking or visiting the Addo Elephant Park as a treat. These weeks flew by as I enjoyed every moment (even the 5am starts). The volunteer house is like a home away from home. You will most likely be sharing a room with a similar aged person of the same sex and this is a great foundation for some of the best friendships you’ll make. I was able to settle in so quickly and feel comfortable living in a new place. There are so many social areas (e.g. lounge, kitchen, fire pit, pool, outdoor seating, pool table, badminton court) around the house where I made some unforgettable memories with some amazing people. Before my trip to South Africa, I was slightly worried about the safety aspect as a solo female traveller in what is considered to be a dangerous country. As soon as I met Juan from the Amakhala team at the airport I felt I was in safe hands. There was not once on my trip where I felt unsafe as we always took the right precautions (e.g. never going somewhere alone, using recommended taxi services, always letting people know where you are going and going to known safe places). These were all just precautionary to prevent anything bad happening which you would do in everyday life anyway. We had our free time on a weekend where you could do what you wanted. We spent most weekends taking trips to Port Elizabeth or Jefferys Bay. Some people went skydiving and bungee jumping. Me and some other volunteers went quad-biking one Saturday in Jefferys Bay and it was a great experience. There is also places to go out to eat in Port Elizabeth and Jefferys bay and it is possible to go on a night out there and stay over too. Finally a word for the team. I can’t even begin to describe how amazing the coordinators Nicky, Justin and Folley are. They are not only the kindest, friendliest and most welcoming people you’ll ever meet but they also have so much knowledge about the animals and the reserve that i was constantly learning every minute of the day. Without them, my experience would have still been incredible but it would not have been complete. Saying goodbye was the hardest part and I will miss them all endlessly. I would not hesitate to go back to Amakhala and I cannot recommend it enough. Elle x

An unforgettable experience where I was able to experience an amazing duality of both meaningful volunteering in the afternoons combined with living on the beach in Bali in the mornings. All the staff went above and beyond to help you and the children you were teaching. The program also allowed you the ability to travel around Bali easily leaving the weekends free.

I did the teaching volunteer programme in Ghana and it was brilliant. The area is so beautiful and the people are always so welcoming, especially Dinah and the rest of the team. The children are always so happy to see you and I found the teaching programme hugely rewarding. There is a restaurant just a 5 minute walk from the accommodation which acts as a hub for the village and hosts quiz nights and parties for the locals and tourists. I spent 3 weeks in Ghana but would have loved to be able to have spent more time. Would highly recommend.

The project in Bali I joined was the Wildlife Rescue Centre in Tabanan, the work was very rewarding and I learnt so much about all the species we took care of at the centre. All the people working there were helpful and made the experience very fun and memorable. Worked there for a month and felt like a good length of time to get to know the routine and felt at home at the centre. Mighty Roar were very helpful in all the pre departure and organisation aspect of the before the trip and were on standby to help while I was working. Only negative I found was the accommodation needed quite a bit of maintenance as our running water went off multiple times and the facilities weren’t very clean when we arrived, not too much of an issue as I’m used to those conditions from previous trips but would’ve been more comfortable with a cleaner and functional accommodation.

I went to Tanzania working at the dog sanctuary for 6 weeks and can honestly say I did NOT want to leave!!! I would go in the morning g to the dogs for a few hours working with the team cleaning them, the kennels, feeding them and teaching them basic skills. Naomi was the best person to work with there, she is full of knowledge and kindness and has the dogs interests as her highest priority. Whilst being there I stayed at the comfy stay which I was so very thankful for! The staff there all went above and beyond to help us with anything, German made a conscious effort every day to ask how we are and if we had any problems in the rooms etc. the cleaners were constantly working, I never saw them stop between cleaning rooms and washing clothes, towels, sheets etc. I also couldn’t fault any of the food! A delicious variation weekly was given and catered to everyone’s dietary we’d. Brilliant place to live whilst in Tanzania!!! The drivers were also exceptional in making sure each and every one of us were safe and taken to and from locations speedily and safely. A brilliant organisation they will not let you down!!

I spent did my medical elective in TMR Sri Lanka, it was an amazing experience overall. The location of the accommodation was great as its opposite a beautiful beach, with a pool and restaurant a few minutes walk away. All the staff were very friendly, Thaksi in particular was very helpful and always happy to answer any questions or solve any issues we might’ve had. They helped organised activities and trips for us each week. The hospital placement was more of an observational role, however all the doctors spoke english and the notes were also in english so I still managed to see a lot. I did the Hill country weekend trip and the Maldives trip, and also spent the weekends exploring other parts of Sri Lanka. I would definitely want to come back to Sri Lanka at some point.

I did the childcare in Thailand programme. Despite the children being on school holidays, we were still provided with many opportunities to volunteer which was great! We had the chance to visit multiple schools/english day camps which meant we gained broad experience. There was also day/overnight trips we were able to go on which made all the volunteers super close. We were given the opportunity to volunteer in Bangkok for 2 weeks and chiang mai for 1 week which was good as we had free time to explore both places! Would definitely use TMR for future volunteer plans!
