Ayomi was an amazing host and the accomodation was a very nice place. Food was delicious for the most part and all activities were well planned. On the turtle program I had much more free time than anticipated though, would have been nice for this to have been better advertised ahead of time.
Dinah is such a queen, she’s been so helpful and supportive. Her cooking is amazing too!!! Having a coordinator like her makes the experience even better <3 Overall, Ghana was very enjoyable. It is a given that you will experience a few challenges along the way but you must take this opportunity to grow and learn. Staying for 3 weeks minimum is ideal !!!!
It was a great experience volunteering with “the mighty roar". The warm welcome, good and suitable accommodation, staffs level of professionalism and prompt assistance from the administrative team is second to non. The safety of the volunteers is very paramount to the mighty roar members of staff and I cannot fault them throughout my stay. I'm definitely will be doing this again!
TMR organised this trip beautifully - the 2 weeks of travelling was packed full of sightseeing and activities, and it feels like we didn't miss a thing. The travel was well-organised and easy, as was all the accomodation. The only thing I will say is that the activities were very expensive to do with the group, but for the most part were probably worth it (and they are all optional).
It was a lovely experience! The staff were welcoming, nice and willing to go out of the way to ensure I was okay. The hospital I volunteered in also had staff who were willing to teach you everything they know. I will gladly relive the experience again and again.
My time volunteering in Bali was amazing. Sukma and Nova were so helpful and welcoming and I always felt so safe at camp. It was one of the best experiences I have ever done and will always remember my time there. The staff at the school were amazing, especially Rika.
I had a really good time doing turtle volunteering in Sri Lanka. I did a weekend trip which was 100% worth it. I was surprised by how many extra activities there were e.g a bonfire, karaoke, meditation with a buddhist monk and surfing. Very nice staff. I would recommend doing turtle volunteering in the peak hatching season however I went in august and I still got to see some.
Dinah and Abigail were extremely helpful with any questions I had. The food made was delicious and gave me a good insight to traditional Ghanaian culture. The community of Busua was incredible. I had a lovely time and would revisit again
It was really a great experience at Kilimanjaro summit lodge, they were accommodating, kind and compassionate. From the chefs, to the waiters ( Zack, Rea) the receptionist ( Hope), housekeepers, gatekeeper and lovely drivers( Benson, Emmanuel, Ramadan, Samson, mustafa, Daniel)they are all caring. It was really a great time with them all
We had such a wonderful time volunteering at the turtle sanctuary and we were so well looked after by everyone! We were welcomed in to the family home and treated to delicious food and lovely smiles. Thank you so much Ayomi, Thaksi, Karu and the rest of the Mighty Roar team for giving us such a special 2 weeks!
I had the most amazing time at the Costa Rica turtle conservation project. From the get go, I felt supported and welcomed. Nicky, the project co-ordinator was friendly and welcoming, and helped me enormously with sorting my phone. She also kindly was on hand when my flight to Costa Rica was delayed, and made sure that I wasn’t stranded at the airport! She gave precise instructions for travelling to the project as well. Moving on to the project itself - I have no words to describe how amazing it was. The research assistants - Juliana, Jack, Christi, Issy, Blanche, Juan and Victor - were absolutely incredible and I am so lucky to have been a part of the project under their capable hands. I will miss them dearly, and was so sad to leave.
The best decision of my entire life. I wish I could’ve stayed for longer. The team were amazing at keeping me safe and ensuring I had all the opportunities such as shark swimming and a safari. I cannot recommend this enough.
The Online team were very quick at answering any questions I had and the Team in South Africa were very friendly and fun.
Recently did the volunteer medical experience in Ho Chi Minh City and really enjoyed it. The TMR team are very quick with replying to queries before hand and giving information, but weren’t really involved once we arrived and there doesn’t seem to be a lot of communication between the local and international teams (the local team seems to be outreach Vietnam and were unaware of trips organised by TMR). The local team were very welcoming and absolutely lovely people to spend 6 weeks with, really helpful with any issues and navigating the transport and trips. The accommodation itself is secure and clean, if a bit basic with dorm style rooms, and meals are provided Monday to Friday, though the food can get a bit repetitive (rice, some form of meat stir fry, some sort of veg and soy sauce and Sriracha normally. There was a bit of an issue with the language barrier and communicating dietary requirements too, and no way to be sure about cross contamination). Though a good thing about Vietnam is how cheap it is to eat out if we did want a break from it. The hospital placement was good- the language barrier could be an issue, but if you weren’t getting anything out of a department you could ask the local team and they’d look into changing it for you. I was able to see traditional medicine, orthopaedic surgery, general medicine and rehabilitation, and get involved in some of them. There was also the option to volunteer in an orphanage instead for your placement. There was a huge disparity between the quality of placements in different hospitals and you are unable to change sites in this case, which can be frustrating as it’s a lot of luck. My hospital also didn’t have an obs and gynae department which I was keen on seeing and had specified in advance.
I was in India for 3 weeks with the mighty roar and I had such an enriching incredible time! It was all so organised and the people I met along the way will remain life long friends.
I had a good time at the accommodation, the meals and the staff was nice. Nice with the different programmes and that you can choose between them. Everyone was helpful
I spent 6 weeks in Sri Lanka with the mighty roar doing the medical programme. It was an amazing place with lots to do, the people here are so lovely and accommodating and I had many once in a lifetime experiences. The food supplied was great and activities organised were very entertaining. The hill country weekend trip was very well organised and I thoroughly enjoyed the places we visited. The medical volunteering was very interesting, however I felt it could have been organised slightly better as at the start there were too many volunteers for the hospitals and some days it was unclear where people were placed. However, overall, it was a great experience and I am going home with amazing memories with great people!
I have really enjoyed my time with TMR Sri Lanka. The staff and family are lovely and so accommodating. They helped plan weekend trips for us to experience everything Sri Lanka had to offer in our 6 weeks here. The medical programme was good and got to see a range of wards in different hospitals. The accommodation is basic but has everything you need and they always have a range of activities to do during the week. All in all the best part of my time here were the staff and the welcoming environment.
I had a great time with the mighty roar in Sri Lanka! The staff and family are really friendly and very accommodating, helping us organise weekend trips and putting on activities during the week like surfing and meditation.
