I spent 2 weeks in sri lanka doing the teaching programme and loved every second of it. From the children, to the friends I made, to the breathtaking landscapes of Sri Lanka, I’m sure going to miss it all! Thank you TMR ;)

I volunteered in Busua, Ghana for 4 weeks with TMR and it was the most eye opening, life changing and valuable experience to date. I have been home now for 2 weeks and already want to go back, missing it so much! I would recommend it to anyone. Dinah and all of TMR team were fabulous!! No issue was ever a problem, they instantly made us all feel so welcome and were so helpful in every aspect throughout the 4 weeks, they helped us make the most of our experience through planning day trips and activities for us - such as; a waterfall trip, an island/boat trip, a coconut walk and a market trip, as well as simple things such as organising a taxi for us whenever we needed, we never had to worry about anything! I volunteered in the public and private school as well as the Peace Home (care centre for children with a disability), and I would definitely recommend splitting your time between them all as they are all different and unique in their own way and all add so much value and a different perspective to your experience. But no matter where you go, even just walking through the street in the village, your presence is felt by all of the kids as they come running to hug you, always with a smile. Busua is the friendliest of villages, their community feels like a family, it is heartwarming. I was also lucky enough to explore more of Ghana from going on both the weekend trip to Cape Coast and Stilt Village, again everything was perfectly organised by Dinah and her team and there were never any problems. There was so much planned in the itinerary for the two weekends and it was so much fun! Additionally, there is lots to do in Busua if you stayed there for the weekend as well - such as; surf lessons, yoga classes, painting, cooking classes and many different restaurants to try! Ghana was a life changing experience. Invaluable. It is so so difficult to put into words just how amazing it was. If you are ever even considering it in the slightest, I would tell you to go! Because you won’t regret it! And TMR were fantastic start to finish with everything!!!

The two weeks I spent in Sri Lanka on the childcare programme was a truly unique and unforgettable experience. The programme was incredibly rewarding and it was an amazing opportunity to make a difference as well as immerse myself in the culture. The children were always so enthusiastic and happy, making each morning joyful and fulfilling. The Mighty Roar also enabled me to explore the country's stunning landscapes and vibrant culture through the weekend trips. Staying at the accommodation felt like being part of a family and tuk-tuks were readily available to provide us with a ride to the supermarket, shops, or restaurants at any time! I will miss the country and all the amazing people I met!

It was incredible! The organisation could use a little more certainty as it was disorienting/confusing at moments. Overall absolutely amazing, had the time of my life

I recently got back from the Animal Sanctuary in Santarém, Portugal. I can’t even express how amazing and wonderful the experience was! The land was beautiful. The staff were lovely. The animals were so sweet. I was there for a month and had everything I needed. We were taken to the supermarket once a week so it was easy to stock up on food and the train station was 10 minutes away by Uber so it was very easy to head into Lisbon and do some sightseeing. It will definitely be an unforgettable experience and I have left having made new friends. I would recommend to anyone and I hope to go back in the near future!

I went with TMR to do my med school elective. From the top: Super responsive to questions before/during/after booking Easy to book On arrival we found out the programme is outsourced to Outreach Vietnam. They're a great company and would get a higher rating from me directly. However they had absolutely no idea what TMR is. Not a huge issue but it meant that a lot of info hadn't been passed on to them from TMR (e.g where we had booked trips with them) and just led to some extra confusion. In terms of actual placement it wasn't great. We were placed in a department nobody had requested despite all having strong CVs relevant to our interests (I'm aware that not everyone can have the department they wanted but others in the house were given in despite not asking for it). We were lucky to have been placed there though: our doctor was brilliant. She was very keen to teach us and offered us extra opportunities. Other students (particularly in surgery) had a worse time with doctors ignoring them or not allowing them in. The accommodation was fine. We went in a very busy period where and ended up with six people in our room. It's bunk beds with one bathroom per room. Fully air conned. The house was very clean with bottled water and ice always available. The meals were great. On the weekend trips; truthfully these were a letdown. Admittedly it's a very simple way of booking but you pay the price for it. We worked out you could get an almost identical trip for about half the cost by doing it yourself (including the tours they arrange for you) even last minute. Not many people go on them either so it's not great for meeting people. Just arrange it on a weekend that suits once you're there. Overall I'm not sure I'd book with them again but I can't deny that there were some benefits to having done so.

I had a great experience because we got to see baby sea turtles hatch and release them but also sizing the turtles and weighing them. The petrols were really good as we got to make sure an adult green turtle went safely back into the ocean.

I went to Namibia for 3 weeks and TMR were super easy to communicate with - checked in with me at every step of the journey - pre trip, arrival, and start and end of programme, and replied to all messages very quickly, which gave a lot of comfort as trips like this can be a bit daunting at the start! But everything ran perfectly smoothly and I had the best time, trip of a lifetime for sure!

I have been in Sri Lanka for 4 weeks on the childcare programme and have had the most amazing time, the children are always so happy to say hello and play with you. I’m going to miss their faces when I go home and will be sure to come back. I also went on the hill country safari weekend which gave me the opportunity to see different parts of Sri Lanka. With one of my free weekend I also chose to go to arugum bay which is in the east coast and is amazing for surfing. I am definitely going to miss the people, culture, welcoming environment and most importantly the kids. Thank you to the Sri Lankan team at tmr

Positives: Dinah, Emmanuel, John and the rest of the team were so approachable and tried to facilitate anything we asked including a night shift at the hospital, taxis to local atms and advice on local prices. The hospital is small but the teams were all very welcoming there and happy to get you involved if you explain your skill mix and interests. I did a night shift in the maternity ward where I feel as though I learned so much from Tina and the team as well as a couple of days in the lab taking blood and learning how to use the machines to analyse the results. The volunteer accommodation was of a decent standard and I shared a room with 3 other people. There is plenty to do in the village including surfing, yoga, volleyball as well as the weekend trips. Dinah and the team also organised some other activities including a boat trip, a trip to a local market and provided fresh coconuts for the whole group. Negatives: The accommodation on night one before we travelled down to Busua was shocking (the rooms smelled awful and they weren’t clean). I also was expecting to volunteer for more than a few hours each morning, this is definitely more of a holiday with some volunteering, which wasn’t quite what I was expecting when I signed up, maybe more suited to younger volunteers. The food which was provided was nice but was very repetitive and there was never a choice, only ever one option.

Everyone is very friendly. Whole place has a great atmosphere. Lots of extra activities are organised to keep you busy and entertained. Facilities are satisfactory although there is significant variation in the quality of some of the bedrooms. All are equipped with ac and beds are comfortable. Location is great. Overall very satisfied with the expirience.

I volunteered for 2 weeks in Sri Lanka, doing the childcare program. We got to meet the children at the school and help them complete tasks set by the teacher, and also individually making lesson plans for the schools to use in the future. We also went on the Hill country safari weekend trip where we visited Galle, Mirissa, Ella, Udawale national park. This was the highlight of my trip as I felt like I became so much more closer to the staff and the other volunteers. I would definitely recommend the volunteer programme with the mighty roar! the staff were lovely and the area was beautiful with the beach 10 seconds away from the accommodation.

What an amazing experience! The teaching programme in Ghana was truly eye opening, whilst also allowing me to make some of the closest friends I’ve ever made. All the volunteers are so lovely, and it’s was so wonderful to spend three weeks with such like-minded people! Although at some times it can be a little unorganised, the team try their best to keep all the volunteers well prepared and looked after! Loved every minute!

Had the best time in Kenya. The staff at the office that organises the different programmes there (CIVS Kenya) are professional and always willing to help and take criticism to improve the programmes. It was one of the most memorable trips of my life and I met some amazing people there!

I recently returned from the most incredible 3 weeks volunteering teaching English in Thailand. The UK and Thai Mighty Roar Team were very friendly, helpful and quick to respond and Winyoo also planned many interesting excursions for us. Teaching the children, particularly at our base school was such a rewarding experience, and it was a pleasure to meet so many different children with such varying English levels. The only reason I didn't give this project 5 stars is that I wished we had more volunteering time, and with the same children so that we could get to know them better and see their progress. I had an amazing time and met some great people but I would describe the experience as more travel-focused with a side of volunteering.
