My time in Sri Lanka was so incredible. I did the dog programme for 3 weeks and wish I could’ve extended for longer as being able to meet all of the dogs and getting to know them was so much fun. Thaksi helped to make the stay so much more enjoyable and was such a lovely person to interact with as were the rest of the staff and also the family. The weekend trips were well worth the money and allowed me to explore more of what Sri Lanka has to offer and it is a truly beautiful country and I will definitely be returning. I met some incredible people along the way all with their own interesting stories of prior experiences and so it was definitely a good way to meet new people.
Volunteering in Portugal at the animal sanctuary was a really fun experience, the staff are great and really welcoming. It’s a good way to learn new skills and you have time off to explore Portugal too.
I definitely recommend going with low expectations and it’s very basic and not that much to do around you. It’s been the best trip of my life! The people met are amazing and everyone is so friendly and genuine. Amazing wildlife and the coconuts 👌. Don’t second guess yourself and just do it! It will be an experience of a life time
My son recently went to the Imire Rhino reserve in Zimbabwe for two weeks and had an excellent time. He said the people were so friendly and the trip was great from start to finish.
Portugal was an amazing one of a kind experience and I look forward to going back one day to do it all again.
I had an amazing time doing childcare volunteering in Ghana. It was a new, fun, eye opening experience that I will forever cherish. It has allowed me to make life long friendships and strong bonds with the children. The food was very good. The community was so kind and welcoming. I loved helping the teachers and students expand their knowledge. It has been amazing seeing their positivity, energy and enthusiasm and I would definitely recommend this program. I look forward to coming back.
Recently went to namibia. Great experience but weather got very cold, -5 at one point at night. Food also got a bit samey sometimes with lots of rice and red meat, very little fresh fruit and vegetables. Tmr information booklet given prior to travel was very helpful and any extra questions I had were quickly answered via email or the Facebook group
the team are so welcoming and very helpful! visiting sri lanka was such a great experience and something i’ll remember for the rest of my life.
I did teaching volunteering in Sri Lanka for three weeks and I had an amazing time. The people working there made the volunteer's saftey and enjoyment top priority by organising optional activities like cricket games and meditation sessions. There were different volunteering hours than on the website. You attended a primary school for 3hrs on Monday and Tuesday morning where you play a TA role (e.g. running small activities, marking there work and making resources). The teachers there made me feel soo welcome. Then in the afternoon Monday through to Thursday you send 30mins planning a lesson then the next two hours running it with the other teaching volunteers. I found this very awarding as you can see the effect you have on these kids growth in learning English. Before I went I was nervous about planning lessons but the TMR staff help you to be fully prepared for the next 2hrs. You have Friday to Sunday to explore Sri Lanka, my biggest recommendation is filling up your weekends as much as possible, there is so much to see. The best part about my experience was the people I met, you are going to meet so many different people of different ages and experiences, you will make life long memories. Therefore, I strongly recommend this program, you will have so much fun.
Very friendly staff, volunteer work was amazing, and the accommodation was nice.
Amazing volunteering experience in India on the special needs childcare program. I thoroughly enjoyed it and the experience was made even better with the help of the local team (Kamal, Peeyush, and Jay), who helped with trips, food, placements, and accommodation. There were some issues with accommodation, but steps were promptly taken to resolve any issues and concerns. I think more communication between Chris and Becky on the UK team and the India team would make the information provided to volunteers more up-to-date and better prepare them for their trip. On the whole it was an amazing experience and I would recommend to anyone who wants to make a difference by volunteering, meet new people and experience a new culture :)
I had the best time in Sri Lanka doing the turtle program! Everyone was so lovely and the accomodation was far above what i was expecting. The company had so many optional activities available during the day which made my time there so much more exciting!
bit cold in the mornings in the winter but amazing experience i am only young but this was amazing all the animals was fantastic and you get to see a lot. the room is very clean beds are comfy and wveyone is very friendly
I was able to help out by volunteering but still had plenty of time to explore places around me. They made the place very welcoming and everyone was easy to get along with, including the staff, they are always super friendly and make sure you feel included in things! They always make an effort to get to know you and end up feeling like friends rather than staff!
I had a fantastic time in India and would recommend visiting this country to anyone. TMR assisted in arranging the volunteer placements (I was on the medical programme) and the staff were exceptionally helpful and accommodating our preferences. Although some volunteers had an issue with our accommodation (I was quite happy) the staff endeavoured to sort this out and alternatives were offered for this who chose to move. Chris and Becky from TMR provided information prior to travelling but once in the country the team in India (Rahul, Monty, Kamal and Jay) were very helpful and always tried to sort out any issues we had. As a student nurse we were largely in an observational capacity but I loved the exposure in the Cocoon Maternity Hospital and the slum clinic. All medical staff I encountered were exceptionally helpful and keen to share their knowledge and practices and I found the more you asked questions of their methods the more engaging and rewarding the experience. 😊🇮🇳
I did the travel and volunteer experience in Bali, and all I can say is that it was amazing! For the week of travel, we were driven everywhere by the most friendly person I have ever met, Dewa, and he would check us in to our hotels, queue for any tickets we may need, take us to the ATM or to get a SIM card, and recommend some fantastic restaurants. He took all the stress out of travelling and let us truly enjoy the fabulous itinerary. When I got the accommodation, it was a lot nicer than what the website made it out to be, although still wouldn’t go so far as to say 5 stars, but the chef would cook 3 fabulous meals a day, and again all the staff were so eager to help with anything.
Had the most amazing experience whilst in Sri Lanka with The Mighty Roar. The hospitality as soon as we walked in to Aayomi's residence was amazing and together with Taxi, they put together the most incredible time. Everyone was so friendly, and the programme was so sociable. I had the best time ever and would definitely recommend this experience to anyone!
Amazing time with amazing people. Everyone is so lovely. ayomi and taxi were very helpful and made everyone feel comfortable and welcomed. Would definitely recommend the mighty roar!
Tanzania medical elective The most amazing 4 weeks I have ever had. From day 1 of medicine I always wanted to go to Africa and help in the hospitals. This experience superseding anything I could have imagined. The price was perfect, the safety and comfort was of so much importance to the Tanzanian team. The hospital staff were willing to teach and get you involved. 4 weeks felt like 4 minutes it went so quickly. I made amazing friends for life and so many future connections. I will definitely be back! Thank you mighty roar for memories that will last a lifetime !
