I spent 4 weeks at the mighty roar for a medical elective and had an amazing time. Ayomi and her team were incredibly welcoming and are so helpful if you have any problems. The process of applying was very easy and in general the whole thing is very well organised and good value for money.
I did the medical experience for 3 weeks in Ghana and really enjoyed it! I loved how flexible it was, for example we went to the school to dress wounds one morning! The team out there lead by Dinah are fantastic and really approachable, I always felt really supported and special mention for Dinah doing her absolute best to make sure I could eat due to an intolerance:) I really couldn’t recommend the mighty roar more, I had the absolute best time and would 100% do it again thank you!!
It was well run and they helped you along every step.
Volunteering with the Mighty Roar has been one of the best experiences of my life! The company is well organised and the in-country staff are extremely supportive and friendly, not only this but the integration within the local community makes this experience a 10/10! I felt fully immersed in the culture and safe throughout my entire trip.
Very easy to book through, reliable and well organised, had an amazing time in Namibia. The only downside was a problem with joining two bookings together, tmr were supposed to join my friend and I’ booking, however did not do so, which caused some hassle when we arrived to the wildlife sanctuary. Other than that I would book again through them :)
I had the most amazing month with TMR! I was part of the medical programme which was well organised and gave us plenty of free time to plan trips and explore the rest of Sri Lanka. The location is perfect - Akurala beach is never that busy and has the most gorgeous sunset. I enjoyed the food and the layout of the accommodation is great. The team were so friendly and I made some life-long connections with the staff, who went out of their way to check in with us and make sure we were comfortable. They helped with transport for trips and also planned evening events like bonfires and DJ nights, and were all-round incredible. I would recommend TMR - they take a lot of the planning off your hands and help out with the things you do have to plan, like weekend trips. It was really helpful to know we had a contact in Sri Lanka we could go to if we needed anything.
wonderful experience the people make you feel so welcomed from the second they pick you up i went on my own and didn’t know anyone but there’s so many people in the same boat that it’s almost impossible to not find people that you get on with as your all their for the same reasons the travel experience was one of the best experiences it took you through every major place in the country which really allows you to immerse yourself in the culture
Super cool trip, the staff make you feel welcome from the first second, we were kept busy in the sea turtle project but able to help out with TEFL, childcare or stray dogs, day trips to waterfalls, beaches, the town etc. I learnt a lot and had a smashing time 😎
I had a great experience travelling with the mighty roar in Sri Lanka. They prepared some amazing activities for us and really allowed us to explore the whole country and see all it has to offer.
I was on the teaching programme in Ghana. I would recommend the experience, the people in the village are lovely and the local bar Tina’s was amazing for socialising after volunteering. The programme leader, Dinah was so approachable and I can’t thank her enough for making our time in Ghana so memorable! Going somewhere so far from home can be daunting but Dinah was available 24/7 to help.Additionally Frances, Immanuel, Michael were all helpful and approachable. I would certainly go with TMR again. Thank you ! (Katie)
It’s a great place to meet you people and explore a new country. I enjoyed this experience so much and would highly recommend and want to do it again in the future
Medical Volunteering Vietnam TMR were fantastic on the UK end, the application process was simple and the handbook very detailed. They replied to messages quickly and sent out regular reminders for documentation required. In Vietnam, the programme was run through a charity called Outreach Vietnam. The team were so lovely and welcoming, with airport/hotel transfers and a short induction. The volunteer house was simple but clean with AC and enough amenities for comfort. The food was again, simple but we were well-fed and there was always a selection for people with dietary requirements. My only critique would be that my group were put in a different hospital and house to the one stated originally on application and that of the main, larger group of students. There were 6 of us placed in a private hospital (which was fine) but offered a very different experience to that of the district hospital which we planned to be in and where other people were. The staff in the hospital were generally welcoming and some were keen to have us shadowing but (the same as in the UK) some were less tolerable. I learned a lot whilst I was there and had an incredible experience overall that I will never forget, but there were some days that weren’t as good as others. This is similar to placement experience in hospitals at home and not so much a critique but more an FYI for people going in future. Overall, I had a really good time and would recommend both companies to people in future. I think however, TMR should update their information on the other hospitals you may be placed, as your experience can differ greatly by location.
The TMR team in Sri Lanka, Ayomi, Mammu, Thanksi, Lilly, Karu and all the rest of the staff we're so friendly, helpful, resourceful and dedicated that our time with them on the turtle programme and hill country tour was a pure delight from start to finish. I cannot recommend the experience enough.
My time in Greece has been one big adventure. Meeting people from all walks of life, as well as learning new skills has been amazing. The support team here is amazing and always on hand to help the volunteers. As well as this, due to the low amount of hours it allows you to enjoy a holiday as well as help to save the environment.
I had a fantastic experience in Sri Lanka, I love the company the mighty roar and can see myself doing another one with them in the future. I met many new lifelong friends, new experiences, built up confidence, independence, all important skills for the future.
the most amazing experience, dinah emmanuel francis and michael looked after us at all times whilst still allowing us to have freedom, we were always walked back to our accommodation when we were coming back in the dark and all the locals were overwhelmingly friendly!
Had an incredible time volunteering at Naankuse wildlife sanctuary in Namibia. The team at the mighty roar were helpful in deciding which project I wanted to do, provided good information about the projects and kit lists etc as well as checking on you whilst you’re out there!
The Bali conservation diving project was the best month of my life! Diving every day was incredible, starting with a deployment dive and followed by fun dives focused on fish identification. I learned so much about marine life and conservation. 🐠 Volunteering was rewarding, and days off were spent exploring Bali and nearby islands, immersing ourselves in different cultures. A highlight was visiting Nusa Penida and diving with manta rays. 🌴🐋 I made lifelong friends and can't thank Kyle enough for creating such a special program. His dedication made the experience unforgettable. 👏 I highly recommend this program for anyone interested in conservation and adventure. 🌟
I spent 4 weeks volunteering at the Mental Health and Psychology experience in Ghana and had the most amazing time! Even though mental health facility at the hospital doesn't get a lot of funding the team was lovely and helpful and included us in home visits and educational trips wherever possible. In Busua, the team (Dinah, Emmanuel and Francis) couldn't have been better, I felt really safe and any problems were resolved quickly. The locals were also so friendly and welcoming. I couldn't recommend this experience enough :)

Jul 30,2024I recently spent 3 weeks in Tanzania on the childcare project. Emmanuel, Alice and all of the staff were so helpful and welcoming. I had an amazing time in Tanzania, I always felt safe and I met so many lovely people. The afternoon and weekend trips organised by TMR were always great😊
