Avis Car Hire offers a premium car rental experience in Ireland, with locations in Dublin, Cork, Shannon, Galway, Knock, Belfast, and Derry.
The rent was prepared through the web site Avis. In particular I did the quick chek-in. Therefore upon our arrival for getting our car it was pretty quick. We were upgraded with our car, and in this particular case, the staff was preoccupied that what we have correspond to our needs. The return of the car went well, the review of the car was quick.

Comodissima la consegna dell’auto (in perfette condizioni) direttamente al terminal con supplemento di 20 euro. Manca la quinta stella a causa della scortesia del responsabile dell’ufficio. Infatti, al momento di caricare i bagagli, ci accorgiamo che manca la tendina copribagagli e un addetto Avis ci suggerisce di tornare all’ufficio per farci dare un’altra auto. Il responsabile prima dice che nessuna auto ha la copertura dei bagagli in quanto non servono a nulla e Avis le toglie espressamente appena riceve una nuova auto. Alla mie rimostranze però mi offre di cambiare auto e un dipendente ci accompagna con le chiavi di altre due auto per verificare che la capacità del bagagliaio sia sufficiente. Purtroppo entrambe le auto avevano un bagagliaio toppo piccolo, ma il copribagagli era presente. A questo punto decidiamo di tenere la prima auto senza copribagagli che fortunatamente il giorno successivo, alla luce del sole, troviamo smontato e buttato dietro ai sedili posteriori. Assurda la menzogna del responsabile che ci ha fatto sentire presi in giro.

Excellent service from Martin on the Avis desk, explained everything & a great help for local information. Car was excellent as expected, always best renting from the best instead of the cheaper car hire companies that then sell add one or have hidden charges once you get there to pick up your car.
Easy and efficient check-in to pick up the vehicle at Dublin Airport after an overnight trans-Atlantic flight. The vehicle we rented was new and I was pleased that it came with an automatic transmission. yhe drop-off was similarly easy with excellent signage and an e-mail the night prior explaining the directions and process.
I use Avis because they accept a debit card rather than a credit card. The car was clean, fully fuelled and ready to go. No problem with the car's performance but my only disappointment was that I couldn't charge my phone in it (no standard USB point which was really frustrating as I was using my phone for navigation, but it did have a couple of USB-C ports). The total cost of the 3 day car hire was as expected but the final invoice is very confusing - don't even try to understand it. It's my fourth time hiring with Avis and I would happily do so again

I now have had a very curt reply from someone else at Avis in Ireland without a title saying that this matter is now closed!! My argument is not that I must agree with their terms and conditions, just that they are too well hidden on the UK web site to know what they are. They are also almost impossible to comply with, especially within 24 hours. Nothing said on my booking confirmation either. Avis in ROI should prevent this from happening and not make client's Irish holidays a disaster. This Avis rule for the over 75s does not seem to apply in Norway, France, Germany or USA just to name a few. I have not searched any further. The Irish T&C three times spell Dublin with a small d and then try to be helpful by pointing out Irish bank holiday dates in 2016 and 2017. Clearly their rules are not reviewed and are out of date.
Simple, good service and the right price
Arriving at Shannon airport, I immediately picked up the assigned car, also thanks to the fact that I had previously entered all my data via the Avis app. The staff was very nice and efficient. The only thing is that he forgot to tell me that I had to return the car to the short term parking at the airport upon delivery. A great experience that justifies a slightly higher price than other car rental companies.

The most appalling customer service in Dublin airport. On Sunday 16/7 afternoon, we had to deal with a junior employee who had no access to Avis system(!!). As if that was not ridiculous enough, two other employees had the most appalling behaviour also towards us as customers. Three Unprofessional, rude, unhelpful and incompetent people on your customer service. We were double charged and the young employee was initially refusing this even though the charges were shown on our card. Then after a couple of phone calls, he changed the story and admitted to the double charges. Everyone be aware of your card , when you hand it to Avis. Is this fraudulent activity in order to charge your customers more ? Please investigate and train your customer service employees because there is enough competition of rentals out there , for people to have to deal with fraudulent people and incompetence.
Be careful with undisclosed charges. We hired a car for 3 days whilst visiting family from Knock (Ireland West), we had paid the zero excess insurance upfront. During pick up, we weren’t made aware of the Roadside and Windscreen insurance, which the advisor had added without informing/ asking us verbally, he asked me to sign a document (which I should have read), though I didn’t notice the charge and he did not highlight it. Within a few days we had an extra charge for £16, it was only once I disputed it the reason came to light. It’s a really underhanded business practice and one we will watch out for in future. I contact the Customer Care Team however, it really is my word against theirs. We have vowed to never use this firm again. The car we had was a Renault Cleo, basic but it did the job we needed from it.

Booked a class B car from Avis for collection at Belfast City Airport. These are listed as having Aircon on the Avis website and even the absolute base model Corsa currently has built in Satnav. But when it seemed I agreed to pay for the full collision damage waiver option one set of keys disappeared and we were given another for what must be the worst car available at an airport rental desk. Four and a half years old, registered in Dublin so the Speedo was in KPH only (to be fair this was pointed out) and it had the battle scars to prove every one of its six figures of Kilometres travelled had involved a hedge, kerb or parked car. Not wanting to cause a scene and with a holiday to enjoy we got in and drove off. Halfway to the coast I'm wondering why the kids in the back are complaining and it's getting hot- that's right, the Sun has actually come out in Northern Ireland and the wrecker has what looks like a piece of Lego where the Aircon button should be. Now, Ireland is lovely and we really were lucky to be there for the one afternoon when it was sunny, but the thought of driving what we now called "Titanic" any further than we had to meant curtailing plans to see the coast road, and when the time came we headed straight back to Avis. I asked the agent to check Titanic's Aircon and when he realised I was being facetious, went over the car on special CSI model and made me fill out an accident report for a scratch on a tyre that had a battered mismatched wheel trim held on with cable ties. His comment that I could have caused a blowout was met with the reply that had I checked it was on a budget tyre I wouldn't have put my family in it. I regret paying an enhanced rate for an inferior car that is not fit for purpose , and feel sorry for anyone who ends up with Titanic in the future.
Very easy to choose car type, book and pay online etc. Face to face at Derry airport is always a pleasure. Welcomed warmly and very easy (& quick) service with clear instructions. Return of car was fabulous, greeted with an umbrella on a wet day and a very simple handover. We wouldn’t use anyone else.
