Avis Car Hire offers a premium car rental experience in Ireland, with locations in Dublin, Cork, Shannon, Galway, Knock, Belfast, and Derry.
Straight out of the airport and customer service desk, lovely friendly member of staff who was very helpful, smile on his face and very welcoming. Definitely use again
This was possibly the easiest hire I have arranged. I had registered with Avis for their rewards programme and arranged this hire. When I arrived, most of the paperwork was done whereas normally it take 10-15 minutes of faff, but this took less than 5 minutes and the chap was really pleasant. The car was easy to locate and in a very good condition, though it was nearly new. Following return, I made a mistake, so called them and, most impressively, it was answered in 2 minutes by a human, who resolved the issue. Actual customer service is worth 5 stars all day long.
Prompt and efficient service at Dublin Airport despite baggage delay. Decent vehicle presented in good condition. Easy to find.
Dublin Airport: Arrivals - only one man on the desk for both Avis and Budget car hire, so I had to queue. The people in front of me had issues (their booking wasn't booked, even though they had the paperwork.) So the wait was LONG and it was late at night. Once I was being served, I then learned that insurance was extra - another 46 euro a day - as much as the car hire itself. This was not expected. Car: Nice car, no Sat Nav - disappointing. No option to book a car with Sat Nav so assumed it would be standard in a hire car! Returns: I was told to return the car to the "Eastlands Car Park." As I collected the car from the Airport, I expected to return it to the Airport. I had not been to Dublin before so assumed that "Eastlands Car Park" was onsite somewhere. NO. On returning to the Airport (after being stuck in traffic in the center of Dublin for 7 hours - due to a fatal accident that closed the M50 and threw Dublin into complete chaos) I drove round both the Terminal 1 building and Terminal 2 but could not find the car park or returns area. I eventually pulled into a petrol station to Google "Eastlands Car Park Dublin Airport" and found a postcode which took me to an off site location. On arriving at the location, you turn left and drive into what appears to be a queue of cars waiting for a car wash. NO signage to say where to go. If you drive through that queue, there is a massive parking area, full of cars. You are supposed to just pull up into a bay and a guy comes to collect the keys. NOT COMMUNICATED. Then you get on a shuttle bus to the Airport - so allow at least another 30 minutes onto your timings for your airport arrival. The shuttle bus goes to Terminal 2 first, then Terminal 1. All in all, it wasn't a terrible experience but it could certainly have been improved with some attention to communication. Finding the car returns area was extremely stressful, after an extremely stressful and harrowing journey. Would I use them again? Probably.
Satisfactory, but car wasn’t particularly clean on the outside on pickup, and had more dents and scratches than I’ve had with other car hire companies at the same airport (Belfast International).
The lady at the airport. Katie was amazing and so helpful, could not do enough for us. Helped us with lots of question we put to her. Brilliant
I have hired cars from Avis in Dublin several times and have always been pleased with the quality of the cars and also the customer service. This time I hired a small group A car. It was in great condition and spotlessly clean.
Booking was very easy, and when I had to change pick up time due to flight change, that too, was very easy. The guy on the collection desk was co-operative and efficient when we collected the car, which was clean. He was also very efficient when we brought the car back. All staff encountered were very friendly.
Awful customer service. Did not give the required information when asked, stared blankly and gave one word answers when we were trying to clarify how we could place the deposit/holding, then waved my partner's driver's licence in our faces while calling out "don't want this back then?" as we walked away to work out how to amalgamate the funds. Luckily, the friendly advisor at Europcar gave us all the information needed (which was the same across all hire companies), enough to continue with our hire without losing our money, even though this was not up to him to do. One piece of advice - go with Europcar, their value to treat people with kindness goes a long way
Quoted an estimated price, 231.12 euro, on pick up rental went up to 348.62 + vat in euro. Other charges 125 + vat in euro, plus another other charges 120.69. I did, accept to pay for additional insurance, this is over 82 euros per day. Will not use Avis again.
Great service and price. Keep up the sterling work. Thanks very much and see you again.
Quick easy transfer from aircraft to car, and you accept debit card, which is brilliant as I do not use credit cards
Speedy collection of the car at the airport and even quicker to hand it back. All very good and service from friendly staff was excellent.
Belfast international airport Ravel Farrel went to extra mile to help us with our booking .
Collected the brand new little VW with ease from the airport with a full tank of petrol. It was important for me to drive a small car as I am short in height. Comfortable and easy to drive. Good service. The rep recognised me from hiring a car the year before which was helpful too so understood my situation. Drop off was easy too. I was struggling with my back and the rep said it would be easy to add someone to the car insurance if necessary.
From choosing the car on the website. To collecting it at Dublin Airport. All went very smoothly. Car was clean in and out. 12 days of renting and no issues with car. Efficient return process. Could not ask for more
Ease of pick up and delivery back. Ran very smoothly.
Booked the car few months ago with avis.ie for rental in Spain. When completed rental I was overcharged 110Euros. Avis first provided incorrect information regarding the reason for overcharge. When I asked about which part of the booking agreement allow Avis to charge more than agreed - no answer was provided but suggestion to contact Avis Spain. I have been long time customer of Avis. I need to now check all past rentals to be verify if I've been charged more than what had been agreed.
Smell of urine and faecal of the driver seat made my travelling very unpleasant from Dublin to Cork. I wouldn't choose this company if I knew that they're going to give me Dacia Sandero instead of Ford Focus. And then the extra −778.91( 1 day rental from Dub to Cork) for the previous rental period damage that, I am sure even for themselves was hard to locate at firs befor my term at the very bottom of the front bumper. They said they are giving me a chance to complete accident form, for the damage that I didn't do.

May 29,2024Have hired a number of times from various companies in Ireland. Having been disillusioned & disappointed by the service I opted for Avis. The service was as I hoped & wished for. Check in for Car seemless & professional. Been disabled deaf these things can be problematic, on this occasion absolutely not. Well done that man at Knock. The whole team from collection to return professional & a credit to the car hire industry.
