What I like about Avis is the transparency of what you pay. There are no hidden costs and you can purchase the additional insurances online, not only at the desk. The vehicle was new, the choice broad. Although not the cheapest when I booked, I felt more comfortable about the hire. Friendly staff at Dublin airport. I paid extra to have the car parked opposite the terminal as I wanted a quick departure without having to bus to a remote pickup point. It would be great if they would consider offering this service on the return too.

If there were an award for "car hire representative of the year", Martin at Derry Airport should definitely win it! He was welcoming and efficient both when we collected our car and dropped it off; the car was really nice and in excellent condition. When he was not busy at the Avis desk, he was outside washing all the hire cars. And then, when our Loganair flight back to Stansted was cancelled 2 hours after it was supposed to have departed from Derry, we went back to him and asked if we could hire another car to drive to Belfast Airport in order to catch a different flight later that evening. He was so helpful and sympathetic, and instantly arranged for us to have the same model of car we had just hired, at a heavily discounted rate. Thank you so much Martin - you do a fantastic job!

STILL WAITING FOR MY REFUND FOR ALMOST A YEAR. BOOKED THE CAR CAR WAS NEVER GIVEN TO ME I PAID FOR A TAXI 200€ AT 2 AT NIGHT TO GO HOME FROM THE AIRPORT BECAUSE THE CAR WAS NOT THERE. AVIS AGREED TO GIVE ME A REFUND BUT NOTHING HAPPENED SINCE LAST YEAR SEND LOADS OF EMAILS THEY DON'T EVEN REPLY. (UPDATE) I WILL NOT REMOVE THE REVIEW AS IT WAS BOOKED FROM IRELAND AND IM A RESIDENT OF THIS COUNTRY. AND I HAVE SPOKEN WITH YOUR CUSTOMER SUPPORT MANAGER AND HE TOLD ME I WILL GET MY REFUND IT NEVER HAPPENED AND STILL AT LEAST HE CAN HAVE SOME DIGGNETY TO REPLY TO MY EMAIL.
So easy to collect and return the car. The lady who served us was so helpful and kind. Will definitely be using this service again.

This was a difficult booking to manage as due to circumstances I had to move or amend the booking 4 times. However Avis were brilliant each time and altered the booking for me as required. I rang the Belfast City Airport counter at least 3 times and had a very pleasant and helpful receptionist deal with and amend my bookings . Brilliant service and great staff.
Watch out for the Insurance scam. When renting in Ireland from Avis you can deny Avis's insurance if you credit card provides this service HOWEVER, they will put a 2500 euro hold on your credit card if you use your credit cards insurance. If you dont use your credit cards insurance it is 40 euro a day for Avis's insurance which does not cover wheels and rims which is also "another" insurance service they offer. So insurance from and Avis is around 60 euros a day on top of your rental cost. Actual car was clean and serves its purpose
i found collecting the car was very easy and man behind desk was helpful. Returning car was very different there were 4 men in the hut they stopped talking and continued to stare at me. one had feet on counter no shoes, Another spoke but was walking away i said i didn't catch what he said just looked at me and said nothing. They never checked car i felt intimidated there was no customer service they didn't say thank you or hoped i would use AVIS again. I hope i don't have to especially at KNOCK airport
0869-4746-GB-4 W Rented a car from Cork Airport - Kerry Farranfore. Literally filled until it clicked - 4 times it clicked, just to make sure. When dropping the vehicle, a member of staff at Kerry Airport inspected + claimed it was slightly off the full gauge, that's fine. But I was then charged €16.59 for fuel + the response I've had off avis, is that it needed 5.6l to fill. Even though I'd just filled it ! I'm astounded ! Luckily we'd paid for full insurance for the day, as I feel they would of hit me with something else. Hindsight is a terrible thing, but I wont be using Avis again !
I've been an Avis customer for almost 50 years. Always nice, friendly staff, good equipment, and quick to resolve any problems that arise. Best of all maybe, no unpleasant surprises at pickup or end of rental billing. Good folks.

Easy pick up with a shuttle bus to take you from the Terminal to the Car Hire facility. Keys were in a lock box and the code texted to my phone. The only downside was the car. A Dacia which was awful to drive. Should have asked for it to be changed to an Opel. Will remember next time. Drop of and return to the Terminal ws easy.
This issue is a common ripoff, you arrive at Dublin airport and right away you are being upsold on insurance and if you don't take the full list of insurance including theft of the car you get shafted for what is considered normal ware and tare on the car, I got charged 620.87 Euro extra without any authorization on my credit card, I have been an AVIS customer in the USA for 10 years and never once was charged for stone chip in the underside of a wheel arch, ridicules My advice don't rent a care from any of these in Dublin, the 620.87 Euros for damage, which was not fixed I am sure as there was a note of similar damage on the other side of the car when I picked it up which I am sure was charged to some unsuspecting customer and was not repaired. I will be looking at having this investigated by the office of the ombudsman in Ireland, as I know I am not the only one to have been overcharged in this manner. Shame on you AVIS.IE
