Nov 15,2023I was really pleased at how smooth and trouble free my experience with Avis at the Dublin Airport. I rented for 9 days, and was very pleased with the rate. The hold for the excess (2000 euros) was removed on time, and the inspection before and after was fast and stress free! They were all very friendly. I will certainly use them again!

Nov 13,2023Rented from Dublin airport, booked car hire and full insurance prior to picking car up. Process at desk was very smooth. At time of pick up my credit card was charged 164euro which I repeatedly asked and was repeatedly told that it was just a hold on my credit card in case I did not return the car with a full tank of petrol and I was told I would receive the full amount back when I dropped the car off. On returning the car, I then found out that what I had actually been charged for and misled into signing for was additional cover for windscreen and breakdown etc. At no point during the pick up of the car or my time at the desk was this additional cover mentioned. I was definitely not asked if I wanted to purchase this. This is a very sneaky and deceptive way of doing business and I will escalate as much as I possibly can to ensure that I get a full refund on the additional charges.

Nov 06,2023Easy online booking. The Avis branch at my local airport (City of Derry) has always given great service and they are friendly helpful people. Paperwork takes less than ten minutes and you are on the road. There's a really good selection of vehicles too, affordable and economical to run.

Nov 03,2023Friendly anxious to please reception out and back in. Car, altho i would not choose one performed well excellent mpg or l rather litre/100 kms ( it was set up for.metric). A little bewildetkng in terms of controls abd operation.Hybrid - no idea how or why electric cut in. Was it self charging? Insurance expensive, car rental.just about acceptable

We picked the car up everything flowed beautifully, on our return at the drop off again professional and friendly. Can highly recommend Avis.

Oct 27,2023I called today to chase my fuel deposit that's still not been refunded, and spoke to someone called Liam. Who was extremely rude and even threatened to hang up on me when I asked him if he didn't have access to my rental information. I had to go through my emails to get the vehicle registration number (I rented it for 2 days and had no idea what the reg was) then after this I had to find the rental agreement number, and even after this I had to give more details from within the agreement like the date I returned the car. When I asked Liam if he could not access this info on his side as its more convenient for me, he said "I'm going to hang up on you now". Really really shocked, this is no way to treat anyone let alone a customer that's already paid for the service. Needless to say because of Liam, I will certainly never rent from Avis in any country again. Good job Liam!

Oct 25,2023Just come back from a trip to Ireland for a funeral, and had a rental car from Avis from Sunday evening until Tuesday afternoon. We drove to a hotel in Roscommon and back again to the airport, so about 5 hours driving in total. When we got back they found a flap of loose rubber (1cm max) on the rear passenger tyre and a scuff mark on the front tyre. Neither damage would have compromised the tyre. They took photos which I have now looked at more closely and the flap of loose rubber was clearly not done in the couple of days we had the car and must have been already damaged. I am waiting to see how much they will attempt to charge us, hopefully nothing as it clearly wasn’t done whilst we had the car. I will be very upset should they charge us anything and will update this review with any further information. At the moment I will never use Avis Ireland again. And would have given them a rating of zero if this was possible. Update 25th Oct, I now have an invoice for 400 euros presumably for two tyres no idea if this is all it covers as not enough detail to tell. So I rang their customer dept to ask to talk to someone about this con, I was promised someone would be in touch to discuss my complaint. I have been copied in on an email asking someone to contact me and nothing else yet. 400 euros for 2 tyres is excessive even if it was justified which it isn’t. They are ripping me off and can’t even be bothered to contact me to talk about it. They clearly have no idea about customer care. 26th Oct for the benefit of Alice I am trying to dispute the damage and explain to you why you are wrong and nobody can be bothered to speak with me. As you say the tyres were not safe as therefore the vehicle shouldn’t have been rented to me in the first place. Maybe Alice could get someone to actually talk to me but I doubt it. 😡 27th October email from Mary saying I was responsible, so pointed out that their paperwork suggest I did 13702km in 47hrs clearly laughable. 1st Nov after chasing Siobhan replied admitting the start mileage was wrong should have been 24583 which someone manually entered wrongly. Laughable as if someone manually enters a car mileage for every car rental they do, surely it is automated. Poor excuse in my opinion. 14th December Some 8 weeks after starting my complaint, Avis refuse to address my concerns directly and stick to their charge. They clearly gave me a document to sign which was wrong at the start of the rental which surely invalidates the whole contract. Their attempts to prove I caused the damage have been laughable. I WILL NEVER USE AVIS AGAIN. They are a joke.
