Pros: + Better.com has competitive rates + Somebody picks up the phone when you call + They were patient and answered all my questions + Online platform has a notion of Tasks that are usually easy to follow + Closing went relatively smoothly Cons: - I was excited about online platform and automation to get through the process faster, but there are a LOT of bugs in the system and often I could not complete tasks online and had to make a call anyway. - I end up uploading the same documents multiple times and going back and forth with different people on the phone - It can be hard to get a scheduled appointment with home advisor - It took way more interactions than I expected to complete the process. - Closing costs are pretty high. - Music on hold is very depressing
I contacted Better because they were the highest rated mortgage company on the web. There is a reason for that!! They are honest and upfront from the beginning. They keep in close contact with the customer. I've bought and refinanced houses in the past with big name mortgage companies such as Wells Fargo Home Mortgage and American Financing and so far, Better Home Mortgage has been by far the very best, easiest experience I've had so far!! They deliver on every aspect of the process!! I will use them in the future and I would highly recommend them to everyone I know for any home mortgage needs!! The only bad thing I can say is I wish I'd used them much sooner!! Thanks for everything!!!

Better.com is great site to apply for mortgage if you want to keep the process clean, trackable with target and one place for all. Loved the site design and process in it. Also, offer competitive rates with rate matching as well.
As with any mortgage process, there were complications and frustrations, particularly with last minute price fluctuations from the title company. That being said, our mortgage advisor, Reilly, was helpful and grounded, navigating the complications and offering a small discount for the trouble. He also answered my frustrated email at 5am because it was our closing day and we needed to reschedule because the title company was making last minute changes. Additionally, the online portal was helpful and mostly intuitive.
Overall happy with my team (Michelle and Brian), they were there to answer my questions and I was able to close on time. The rates are unbeatable and would definitely recommend especially if you're a little bit tech savy to complete your tasks on time.
From start to finish the process was super easy. Applied and locked my rate on Monday, had approval by Thursday evening and closed the next Tuesday. Never have I seen a mortgage close so fast or so simple. Easy to follow tasks to complete and fast review and approval. I got an excellent rate that no one else could match and closed super fast. Customer Service was good and would use again any time.

Hayden was terrific during the entire process. My realtor, insurance agent and closing attorney all had trouble communicating with the rest of the team but Hayden jumped in each time to save the day. I'm convinced if he had not assisted we would not have been able to close on time.

My experience included quick feedback and action on the loan. I was continually updated on the status and had every step explained clearly and concisely. My agent, Mikaela, was very responsive to any questions and concerns that I had. It was a lovely experience start to finish. My only constructive criticism is that the web page for mobile devices failed to perform on a number of occasions. Namely with displaying documents or accepting the ‘submit’ action. The full web page functioned perfectly though.

Spectacular refinance experience with Better! All digital and no commissions... there are a lot of tasks, but that happens with all mortgage processes. The user interface is really easy to understand.
I have been fortunate enough to buy many properties over the years and therefore I have a lot of experience in taking out mortgages. Hands down, this has been the worst experience ever. I was initially attracted by the decent rate, low closing costs and the idea of a streamlined process. The process was more burdensome than I could have ever imagined. The underwriting team are beyond incompetent and requested a level of information that revealed their incompetence and, in some cases, was impossible to get. If you’re reading this, morons, I cannot provide monthly bank statements for a publicly traded company. It’s illegal and I would go to prison. If you have a very vanilla financial position, better.com might work for you as the underwriters would not be required to use their pea-size brains. However, if you have any level of complexity to your finances, steer clear of these bozos.
