unfortunately in September I had my vehicle stolen and had to make a claim, as I was paying monthly and was only half way into my policy I owed some payments, BCD want full payment paying from my payout, which was fine by me. when the insurance company asked them for the outstanding balance BCD sent them the wrong information 3 times and on the 4th attempt they sent an amount, this took just over 3 weeks, this delayed my payout, due to this I had to hire a vehicle so I could continue to work and not lose my contracts, then after the insurance company had deducted the owed monies from my claim BCD then requested an other amount, insurance company refused to pay the extra and claim had already been paid. BCD then sent me an email stating they was going to cancel my policy unless I paid them not only the extra monies they wanted but also the monies that had already been deducted from my claim payout, I had 7 days to pay them £1050. I contacted them explained that the insurance company had these monies, the replied they contact the insurance company after 5 day I had no reply so rang back to be told they had emailed the insurance company twice but no reply, I then rang the insurance company and within 10 mins I went through security checks, explained the problem, received an email confirming monies had been deducted from my claim payout and they even rang BCD and told them while I was on the phone not cancel my policy. this was last week, this week more emails pay us or we are cancelling your policy now for £75, Reason given, insurance company took too long to pay them and final figure had gone up so currently I have to pay this £75 which has arisen at no fault of myself or risk having my policy cancelled which will result in me being out of work. 3.5 years I've been their customer and this is how they treat you. Well done BCD you've lost me as a customer and 14 others upto now that I've told about your disgusting treatment and I'll be making it my mission to lose you more, 20,000 couriers where I work all self employed and responsible for their own insurance. I'll be posting this everywhere I can.

BCD called to help narrow down my search for van insurance. I spoke to Oliver Lyons who couldn't have been more helpful. He genuinely cared and tried his best to get me a good price and ultimately found a better price than I could manage. Oliver was super polite, knowledgeable and went above and beyond to help me. The guy is a legend. Somebody give Oliver a raise

Tried to double my insurance after another years of no claims, have managed to find another broker who was more savvy with the fact that an additional year of no claims generally leads to a discount on the last premium, not an increase. Be aware, they'll charge £300 for their services without putting the legwork in.

Original review: Having been with the company for the past 3-4yrs it was time for my public liability renewal. Having received the renewal twice this week for £55.10 (previous year about £53) I contacted yesterday by phone to confirm and pay. The policy is to renew on the 30th. I was told over the phone it was £54.34 however I was billed £64.34 when checking my bank this morning. Despite all documents sent yesterday and this morning stating “total 54.34” I was told this was a brokerage fee. I said I didn’t agree to that so cancel the lot I’m going elsewhere. “Nobody is answering in cancellations, they’ll call you back”. Immediately I shopped for quotes and took out the policy elsewhere for a little less than the amount billed. I then tried contacting the cancellations again. No answer. I phoned the main number, no answer. I then was finally passed to the cancellations on my 4th attempt and ringing another number. They now want to deduct a £25 cancellation fee from my refund! I refused and asked for complaints department. A manager needs to ring you and they’re off til Monday. How can anyone trust a company that’s treating an existing customer this way. Every other yr what was quoted and what was on the policy documents was what was billed. Then you want to charge me for the “pleasure” of hrs wasted on hold while trying to work, like its not hard enough for self employed. The only reason I’m cancelling is because it was sneakily mis sold over the phone. The documents don’t match up to what I was paying and had cancellations answered the phone and resolved the issue I wouldn’t have needed to go elsewhere. Also as stated this is for a policy that wasn’t to take effect until the 30th and I have cancelled less than 24hrs from taking it out and been billed. No “cooling off period” nothing. Absolutely disgraceful company. I doubt I’ll hear from anyone monday and will be taking the matter to the financial ombudsman Update: So as soon as I’d wrote the original review here, the manager (who was supposedly off til Monday) contacts me by phone. Again showing you cannot trust this company and completely lie. After been told he’d listened to the original call from the day before he said “you were told about the broker fee and accepted” if this was the case it was because I was told this number and that one after been asked stupid questions like “will you be working at height/in a river” (fitting carpets really?) and you would assume the £10 in question was included in the quote of £54.34. I was also told that I’d accepted the £25 cancellation fee. Yes I would accept that had it been for a policy that was actually in effect but since it’s the 24th and cover wasn’t until the 30th how can that be right? After later informing the complaints department I would be contacting the police to investigate, because if this company is sending out policy documents and receipts that clearly state in bold “TOTAL AMOUNT PAYABLE” as £54.34 and then billing everyone an extra £10, surely this amounts to fraud especially if their books aren’t reflecting the total amount paid. After which I received an email saying “Please see the attached confirmation letter we sent you yesterday, detailing the insurer premium and our broker fee”. This letter doesn’t highlight neither the £54.34 or the £10 in bold like every other document and if it is the case why does it not state “TOTAL AMOUNT PAYABLE” £64.34? I have requested my telephone conversation be sent to me and will complete the subject access request form tomorrow as I’ve had enough stress from them today. I can guarantee though that at no point did the original call handler say anything along the lines of “so that brings your total to £64.34” at which point I would have queried the amount then and there, cancelled my renewal and gone elsewhere. But because I paid them then and there and because I couldn’t be forwarded to either cancellations or complaints first thing this morning, thus leading me to take out the policy elsewhere, now they act like it’s my fault and that they are entitled to keep £25 for something I haven’t been covered by, have been misleadingly sold and won’t refund in full despite been less than 24hr since purchase. To add further insult, I had got to the end of my tether with the stress, especially since their complaints procedure will run to 19th January before I can contact the ombudsman and as I’ve now paid double because of their hassle I’m now left out of pocket and can’t afford my plans for my day off on sunday - so you can keep you “all the best”from your previous reply. I was of the mind of right forget it, get your “refund” let them keep the £25, for now, and proceed with the complaints. After contacting them I was then told “WE ONLY DO REFUNDS ON A THURSDAY” Complete joke of a company and I’ll be further be contacting the F.C.A
