Oct 16,2023When I initially reached out to JMW Solicitors, I had already approached eight other solicitors who specialize in handling claims under the Armed Forces compensation scheme. Out of those eight, each one advised against pursuing the matter. Most of them showed only a cursory interest in listening to my experiences. However, my experience with JMW Solicitors, particularly with Mr. James Sloane, was markedly different. From the very beginning, Mr. Sloane was genuinely eager to listen to my story. My military experiences were far from typical, and James took the time to understand whether it was truly worth pursuing a case. They not only took on my case but also helped me achieve something that most other solicitor firms had been unable to do: navigate the complexities of dealing with Veterans UK. Throughout this lengthy journey, their guidance and support have been invaluable. This process has been far from quick, and I faced numerous rejections with other solicitors, which was disheartening. Perhaps my case was seen as a risky one, considering the bureaucratic challenges of the AFCS. However, JMW Solicitors took that risk, and it has paid off for all parties involved. Without their assistance, and especially without James's support, I would not be in a position to finally bring some closure to my military chapter. Sep 24,2023Both their solicitor and barrister advised that I could challenge the photo of myself on a motorbike surrounded by cars in the mobile speed camera photo, on the grounds that it was unclear at what point the speed reading was taken. However, a blown up photo in court clearly showed that these cameras provide sight marks on the photo showing where the speed had been measured, and the sight mark centred on my body. Their advice was nonsense. Just before the hearing I was told the barrister cost would be £2000 which I would be unable to claim back if I won, as one can only claim about £500 in these cases on legal aid. I asked for a solicitor then, not a barrister, and was told that wasn't possible, even though I had been told originally that a solicitor would represent me. I went to the magistrate court alone and the 50 stone female (I think it was a female) prosecutor took the complete mickey out of me, and I simply had to back track and change my plea to guilty. This has been the most embarrassing experience I can think of, which has kept coming back to me. I was later told by an investment adviser that 'lawyer' and 'liar' are very similar sounding words when the subject of incompetent solicitors came up!

Sep 19,2023Without the details I managed to get into a situation with driving offences (unfairly in my view in the circumstances) which caused me significant stress and potential job loss. After contacting a few solicitors JMW instantly re assured me that they were the right company to represent me. Detailed advice all the way through (despite going against my own views) and I ended up in exactly the right position. Great communication and when looking at the bigger picture worth every pound spent. Would recommend to anyone in a challenging situation.
