Sep 10,2023I bought the U820 model from Amazon in January 2023 In many ways it's great. However, its broadband speed plugged into ethernet is half that of my 14 year old refurbished Toshiba laptop on the same connection. They sent me details of an upgrade to remedy this, supposedly a dedicated version of Windows 11 pro, which I downloaded, but Minisforum offer no information on how to install it. Minisforum constantly bring out new models rendering past one's apparently obsolete and unsupprted. The web pages on their various sites are hit and miss as to whether you can find what you want. TBH I wouldn't buy another, and suggest that unless you have advanced technical skills, you don't either.

Sep 08,2023With all of my Adobe programs, Lightroom, Photoshop, and DXO, Each program constantly crashes with my Mini PC.(UM790 Pro 64+1TB US) I must use an old laptop that works fine with any programs I just mentioned.

Sep 03,2023*UPDATE* Minisforum sent me RMA info. Item was returned to their US based warehouse and I received refund to original payment method. Thanks! I received item in May. UM350 with Linux Manjaro installed. For personal reasons, I was not able to set it up until 9/2/23. Right out of the box, there was a message that computer did not meet requirements to run Manjaro properly. I should have put it right back into the box, because after set up, I cannot access anything on computer. It says my password is invalid

Aug 31,2023Repeat customer I’ve ordered about 15 workstations over the last few years and all have worked great with zero issues compared to similar models (had 5 of 5 of a competitor equivalents have permanent HDMI port failure and had to switch to USB C video over the same time frame). Sound db levels compared to equivalents also are quieter out of the various brands I have used. I had my first lemon recently that wouldn’t power on after a week of use. After some basic confirmation of the issue got an RMA and replacement unit with minimal hassle in a timely fashion. With that track record and for the price MinisForum will remain my default for my (pretty basic) workstation needs.

Aug 28,2023I purchased the UM790 Pro recently, I really wanted to love this product as the price and spec looked great. But the Wi-Fi was awful on the device at less than 1mb (I have 67mb fibre and all my other devices work perfectly). Hard wiring to the router is not an option and at the price (normally over £800) the basics should work without having to purchase adapters etc. The positives of the machine are windows startup was super quick, it was super quiet and stayed cool but having read the other reviews I would be hesitant to order a replacement in the hope that the new one is better and I am so glad I purchased this through amazon rather than directly.

Aug 28,2023Device did not work on arrival. Contacted company to get a replacement they started emailing and would not answer about sending a replacement. Then they stopped contact. If company ever responds back and issue is fixed I will update.

Aug 25,2023The price of the barebones UM 790 Pro was too good to pass up. Ordering directly from the company in China, I expected to have to wait a while to get the machine. I was in no hurry, so I was fine with it. My only issue was that the website didn’t show any status updates, once the order was confirmed. Even a little bit of information like, expected to ship in X days would have been a better experience. I was quite pleased that the actual shipping took 3 or 4 days. My orders for Apple products that shipped from China took weeks. I exchanged a few emails asking about the progress of my order. The responses were friendly and courteous, though it looked like they used translation software to translate my message and to translate the reply.

Aug 23,2023The um790's small size is a great plus. It's also very quiet. It has many ports which I like. I docked one star off because the wifi is poor. The antenna is located at the bottom. They should have the option at the back to attach antenna. I got a usb wifi plug and problem is solved though. No issues other than that. great design.

Aug 23,2023The machine is excelent and really quick. But mic didn't work and the wifi has problems with 5ghz network. Also the company is not being responsible for returns of this defective device

Aug 23,2023Love Minisforum. This is my third Minisforum PC. This one has a mobile discrete GPU. Noticeably better sound quality than the old PC it replaced. Shipping was great, 2 days.

Aug 23,2023The order took a little longer than expected, but it was a preorder so that isn't unusual. Product itself is great, wish the feet didn't have to be removed to open it up. Could use hollowed out feet. Works GREAT though, very happy with it.

Aug 23,2023This is my 2nd minisforum pc. I got it to try out proxmox VE and setting up VMs to run things that I didn't really need a whole separate PC for. The construction/engineering/build quality of it is at least as good as any top tier OEM. I bought the barebone version. If any of you are running this as a hypervisor, be aware that there's a bios update to enable VT-d, and you'll need a windows environment to run it from (even if it's just hiren's boot cd).

Aug 23,2023Shipping took much longer than expected. When the Minisforum computer came, it was DOA. The return process was a living nightmare for 1 month. It took a week to get a return shipping label. Then, it took weeks for shipping and to credit back the money. Thankfully, the credit eventually came. But, buying direct from Minisforum turned out to be a mistake. In the future, I will buy on Amazon so the return process will be more efficient. I also recommend to buy the extended warranty on this purchase since the quality is up in the air. Will I buy again? I probably will via Amazon. But, my first experience was one of the worst buying experiences of my life.

Aug 22,2023This is the first time I ordered anything from minisforum after a friend talked about it. The specs for the machine are amazing for the price. It took a while to start shipping because it's a new machine but the shipping was pretty quick. The problem started the first day with the machine randomly restarting. Contacted support and told me to update bios but with the links to the files not working. After a search online it seems that a lot of people have this issue. Right now I would still like to have a machine that works but waiting on the approval of the reimbursement of shipping fees. No news in the last 5 days so I keep waiting. Worst case, my credit card company will fight this for me but it's a shame because I had high hopes for this machine

Aug 22,2023I bought this PC to use for emulation and gaming. I have have no issues at all and it's ran all the games great. I've been using batocera and chimeraOS on it as the main operating systems and it's perfect with the preconfigured 64GB of ram and 1TB SSD

Aug 22,2023Their shipping date was way off. Over a month later than I was told. In addition their communication system was poor. Different responses saying different information, always a day later than needed so making arrangements to receive system was very difficult. The system once it arrived is excellent. The stress involved getting it just gives it a bad flavor. If they were honest about shipping dates from the beginning I would give a 5.

Aug 22,2023I got my UM790Pro with maximum configuration. The mini PC is small, quite and cool - very low temperature :-). There are a few opportunities for me to play with this PC. In the first 2-3 years, it is my video and DL workstation with an eGPU (nvidia). Then I plan to switch it to a NAS (with raid 1) and docker workstation. I gave 5 star for the product. I took away 1 star because DHL is not my favorite courier. DHL is greedy. They always charges extra $$.

Aug 22,2023Took a bit longer to get the product shipped, perhaps because of a backlog, which gave me a slight panic, but in the end i got my order. The device itself is quite good, better than I expected initially. Primary use is for a home server and some slight gaming. It performs well for my gaming needs, miles better than my M1 macbook. Overall satisfied for the price i bought it at.

Sep 19,2023Took delivery of the new UM790 pro mini pc from Minisforum Uk and from out of the box to a couple of weeks of use I am very happy with this little pocket power mini pc it does everything I ask of it. I purchased it for photo and video editing purposes mostly for astrophotography and yep well impressed with the performance and little power consumption that this little box got to offer. Had a first time great experience shopping with this company and it won’t be the last by the looks of it as Minisforum got a lot to offer the consumer looking for a great quality product on different levels of tech that they provide.
