I just ordered a MinisForum Venus UM790 Pro barebone at a very good price, I also got a nice mousepad for free. I greatly recommend Minisforum.
I just received the email notification saying my PC has been dispatched. I noticed immediately it is being sent by FedEx, which raised alarm bells as they tend to be for shipping overseas items. I then discover I've bought an item from Hong Kong. You can only find this info by delving into the depths of their website, there is nothing to warn you of this on the home page, the item page or when submitting your order. So now I'll have to pay an extra 20%VAT and possibly customs duties, which make this a more expensive item than I expected. And looking at other reviews, it appears their after sales / warranty help is non existent, so I'm worried if I have any problems in the future. If I'd realised the above, I wouldn't have bought it. Maybe I should have looked harder or looked on TrustPilot 1st, but as far as I am concerned this makes this a scam.
Great little machines. I bought a UM560 for a Home Assistant server and other home use services. It has been running constantly since I bought it.
Purchased Minisforum MC560 mainly for light/office work with slight gaming and so far it works as stated. The delivery time was within estimated dates. Packaging was neat. The Support is great they reply within a day at most (in my case) Website could still have some improvements regarding language support for European users (sometimes it switches to German, mostly at checkout) but nothing that cannot be fixed Overall good experience and i would totally recommend the brand to a colleague or a friend
Bought an MinisForum AD650I as a Test Server. Initially using a 19Volt 90W PS it had some issues, so I emailed and got a response within 3 days for a RNA no issues. However, it turned out to be the PS, and using a 180W PS it worked like a charm. I also have a UM580 and this is a nice unit as well. Note: Windows Server does NOT support the Intel I226-V ethernet on this board, so you have to use an old school RealTek USB-C Dongle which seems to work.
Have purchased a UM790 3 months ago. The PC has become (or perhaps already was) unstable with regular random freezes and reboots. Not an issue with drivers or updates. Have contacted support, no answer, not even to say "we're busy now, we will contact you shortly". It looks like the warranty contract is non-existent ! May need to take the issue even further if still no reply in the next weeks. Disappointed, even though I really wanted to be impressed ! 1 WEEK LATER, FURTHER NOTE : Have been since contacted by Minisforum technical support for guidance on how to resolve the initial issue I had. The suggested list of things to try seemed to have worked ;-) and I was able to establish the cause of the initial problem. Minisforum was able to take care of that which was under warranty without hesitation once the cause of the problem was known... Lets see if the replacement will solve the issue once and for all !! In that case I will be fully satisfied and retract my initial review !
Ordered a UM773 - AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS / Pink (SE) / 32GB RAM+1TB SSD for 479 euros in a ''flash day'', got no communication from them for 2 days, emailed them asking when they plan to ship and then the story unfolded. First they said that they had an ''issue'' with the website and that although I ordered a 32GB Ram+1TB SSD, it was in fact a 32GB+512 SSD. Then they said they can ship me the 512GB with 10 euros discount but I said that I want the 1TB as that's what I paid for. Then they said they didn't have any in stock and they offered to send me a black one and 20 euros discount, and I said as long as its same specs, lets do it. Then they cancel my initial order, issue a refund and they wanted me pay again 529 euros for the black one even though I had ordered the pink at 479. So they tried to scam me for 50 euros extra just for a different colour as the cheaper one miraculously went out of stock. I would avoid them, they cannot be trusted. I didn't re order, but as promised, I am posting a negative review anywhere I can. UPDATE: They replied below that they would provide a satisfactory solution but they have never contacted me. Just updating so people are aware that they didn't do anything.
I bought HX77G on 4th of October. There was no email from Minisforum about any delays. I have sent them an email on the 6th to ask when they plan to send it but I instantly received a response "Delivery Status Notification (Failure)" with the content "DNS Error: DNS type 'mx' lookup of minisforum.com responded with code NXDOMAIN Domain name not found: minisforum.com" The package was finally sent on the 12th with no explanation. I was just about to report a fraud to my bank.
Diese Firma leistet keinen Produktsupport, wenn man nicht direkt in deren Shop gekauft hat. Ich soll technischen Support bei Amazon anfragen. Haha…
Bought an UM773 lite on the 20th April 2023. It simply stopped working, not powering on anymore on 05 October 2023 (less than 6 months use) I am a well versed IT engineer and I have assembled thousands of PCs. The lower quality motherboards may be at fault here. I will never buy those crap ware again. Lesson learnt. Update: Minisforum asked for my details 7 days ago to contact me 'urgently' (only on trustpilot for the public's eyes but never contacted me)
bought a bearbone um790 pro, installed RAM and SSD myself. been running very good since it arrived! very satisfied! the only issue was WIFI signal was very weak, but issue has been sorted out by myself, with a simple trick. you just need to put the um790 pro package box under the device. whala, issue fixed.
worst sales team, they remove negative comments from their website twice. They false advertise they product via YouTube content creators. No compensation offered for a faulty device, issue related to UM790 Pro all over the web.
Purchased the UM790 Pro barebones. I was impressed by the build quality, performance and ease to set up and get running. However, the Wi-Fi in the device cannot connect where I will be using the machine, rendering it unusable for my use case. My phone, tablet, laptop, and smart TV can all connect but this brand new device cannot even detect a WI-FI signal. When I contacted support to return under warranty, their team offered troubleshooting help but nothing thus far with returns for a full refund, even under warranty. The functionality of their products is like gambling, and their customer support appears unresponsive and unprofessional. Best to stay away. 👌🏻
Bought two barebone units - HX80G with dedicated GPU and a UM773 Venus Sakura edition. Both have been rock stable and great performers as I've been using them for various use-cases such as Batocera, Deepin desktop, and Ubuntu server. Recommended, and I would buy again!
Ordered a UM790PRO during the original pre order period in early June for delivery in July. Was on hols from mid July till Aug so had to delay the delivery. Eventually advised that delivery had been made by Fedex on 9th Aug but nothing received! After endless calls to Fedex and no help from Minisforum whatsoever, Fedex finally agreed to send a driver back to the address to collect and redeliver. Fedex couldn't find the address or parcel so just sent me an email saying 'package lost' and to process a claim through supplier. After contacting Minisforum and doing all the legwork for them, they still have all of my money and wont refund me until Fedex process their claim!!! Getting on for 2 months after Fedex accepted liability and nothing back from Minisforum. So, Minisforum have had £700 of mine, hours of my time, I have absolutely nothing in return, and Minisforum are not prepared to refund me until they get the money from Fedex... which part of this problem is my fault, yet I am out of pocket! This type of service makes me realise how good Amazon are. Avoid purchasing from Minisforum direct - it just isn't worth it. Very unhappy customer.
UM790 Pro Windows Was somewhat stable at first with bios 1.03. Arch Linux was usable if I installed amd-disable-c6 from AUR. After upgrading to bios 1.07 windows now freezes and randomly reboots and the new bios is locked from downgrades and now I am outside of returns from amazon. This mini pc was not worth the headache I should have just got a mac mini.
System worked for two weeks before it overheated under light load. System was a UM773 Lite. System was deployed with more than sufficient airflow, yet system overheated to the point of blue smoke coming out of the side vent. Opened ticket with support about the issue and no response within one business day, as they advertise. I now have a dead system and have had no contact from their support staff in relation to this order. Customer service is worse after they contacted me as a result of this review. They expect me to pay for the return of their defective product. No response from them for a week since my last email response. I finally opened a case with PayPal and will deal with this company through that case. Don't buy from this company.
The PC is good for the price. Time will tell how long it lasts. Bit concerning to read other people having issues on the Minisforum support site. The support is hit and miss. If you do get a response it's usually very general and not that helpful. The company are based in China so don't expect UK standards.
