With the Miyagi programme there is a nice mix of person to person support and self directed accountability with lots of information to dive into. There are many areas of learning to satisfy your interests, to develop the skills and mindset, ensuring sustainable weight loss and incorporating appropriate exercise, how to maintain a healthy weight once your target weight has been met and a deeper understanding of how your own individual physiology and psychology works.
I really like the support from Kristy and Lance. They are great listeners and have great ideas to help me to change my negative habits. Tamara is my new go to person as well. Thank you all for being you.
It's great to have sessions with the coaches individually. I started slowly but hopefully will pick up as I go along.
The things I have learnt about myself, my relationship with food and how I need to look after my body in just the first month has been beyond words can explain! At the start I just seemed to think I needed to lose weight for my health, I didn’t realise that in the 42 years I’ve been alive, I’ve caused more damage not just physically but mostly mentally. Those awful saying’s, I’ll start tomorrow or I’ll make up for it next time, had consumed me, and were always my go to when I fall off the wagon, and I never realised it was my safe way to give into the guilt of failure. In the first month of joining the team and starting this marathon, I’ve learnt more about how mindset and positive thinking is one of the most important things that will help changes stick, and the people I’ve spoken to or watched their posts and videos, have helped me to understand the issues I’ve faced my whole life. I’ve only just started and have already started seeing some changes that will benefit not only myself, but my family, and it’s only the beginning. I’m so excited to see what’s next.
Everyone I've spoke to has put my mind at ease. It's a 2way street you get what you're willing to put in and take away from each encounter you have. At the end you can have all the tools but if you don't engage it won't work. It's up to you!
The Miagi Heart Smart Australia experience suits my needs perfectly. The calls are reminders for me to stay on track with my recovery and health forming new habits. I have not been able to do this on my own as I have been trying. The tools are there within the program for me to access as best as I am able. The Zoom calls give me someone to be accountable to. I share my progress, take on suggestions making them my homework which helps set new patterns in my mind. The progress call gives me the opportunity to speak my mind, recall my journey and write notes to add to my journal. Miagi is giving me the support I wished I had in the past as I tried to help myself. At the end of this my intention is to have a habit pattern that will sit comfortably with me as I experience my older self. I am so glad I signed up and so grateful to all the amazing staff.
This 6 month health program is for a change of lifestyle. It is different because you have a dietitian consult every fortnight to help you set up doable goals for the fortnight, give you tips on food and setting up new healthy habits that change your mindset towards food. This human interaction helped me monitor my progress every fortnight and applying what I have learned changed my relationship with food for life. I have been on so many weight loss programs but so far my weight loss in this program is the one that I have maintained for more than three months. And this program is not focused on weight loss alone but on changing your habits towards food and healthy living , the weight loss is a bonus. I joined the program because of health issues of being prediabetic, obese, having a fatty liver and high cholesterol. After 6 months, I finished the program with normal blood sugar, normal liver enzymes and my Triglycerides at 1 with a bonus of losing 12 kgs. (The evidence is in the results of your blood tests taken at the beginning, middle and end of the program.) To me, that is fulfillment of my health goals so I continue to do what I have done. It was a free range education where all the tools are given to you (documents to read, videos to watch, live shows, a Facebook Support Group) and you have to put in the effort to apply them. I love that you are not given a set of weekly recipes to follow but you are given the freedom to choose the recipes. At the end of the program, you know what you like and you learned what works so you still continue with them after the program. It is your effort and change in mindset towards food and healthy living that will make this program a success. I am so happy that I found a program that helped me establish a new healthy lifestyle. It worked during the program for 6 months so I will continue to do it forever. I love the weekly live show "Ask the Doc" of Dr Ross Walker who is a cardiologist with vast experience and knowledge. I have learned a lot about having a healthy heart and living a happy and healthy life. I love the Facebook support group where members share their highs and lows. It helps with social interaction because you are part of a community for health improvement. So the program is a yes for me.
Started the Heartsmart program in June 24 with some trepidation as wasn’t sure what I would get from it. I have never been on a diet before nor needed medication for cholesterol or blood pressure etc. So in June when I was put on a cholesterol reducing statin, I also came across the Heartsmart program on FB. As such I thought it time to put some science around how to lower my cholesterol and reduce some weight. Heartsmart provided a great insight in how to address both issues for me. These came via a wealth of short videos from Dr Ross Walker, covering a wide range of topics, and the program dieticians as well as monthly video catch ups with a dedicated dietician. All the above measures keep you focused on eating better and smarter and by also picking up a bit more exercise has lead to a 8kg weight reduction as well as significant drop in my cholesterol levels. This has also contributed to a better blood pressure. I compare myself to a friend who has similar issues but has not been able to use the tools available from the Heartsmart program. Unfortunately after a good start by my friend to reduce cholesterol and blood pressure, things have gone in the wrong direction for them. I believe Heartsmart is the difference as provides participants with the right tools and support to assist you in eating smarter, rather than guessing.
At the beginning my feelings were very mixed - being very unsure, almost afraid of what I was letting myself in for…. But the Jump Start program helped me highlight my reasons for joining and at the same time assess the reality of my goals.
Very straight forward and simple to understand. No major changes and small step by step approach to a full and healthy life
The Miyagi program offers a heap of support and encouragement to get out of a rut and get on with a healthy and happy lifestyle.
this mob are a scam, they stitch you up with fast talking and DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING...they will not negotiate. My financial situation changed drastically and I tried to speak with them as about what was happening and that I could not now afford the cost. Doesn't matter. No negotiation, nothing. I had to cut up the credit card attached to the finance with a third party...and now this will effect my credit rating as they chase me and will probably take legal action against me. If they were reasonable, I might have had a look at doing it later down the track. But no, I have a sick taste in my mouth with this awful organisation. Fair Trading can't do anything. I am now getting my lawyer to try and get something out of these CRIMINALS...NO SERVICE HAS EVEN BEEN PROVIDED...Health care my arse....money grubbers. Everything they 'offer' can found online for free or in books. You can't see what you are getting until after you have paid. Over-priced hype machine with a strong turnover in staff too. I don't think they are happy either.
Their plan with all the available resources set you up for life with their meal plans and valuable information. Very friendly consultants who had very good product knowledge, therefore quick answers on just about everything, lifestyle and diet. Also they were very understanding with the challenges we all face.
Abundance of information to help guide you through a more healthier way of life. Great tips, docs and tools on habit breaking and mindful choices both mentally, physically and food related. Mind Coaches and Dr Walker advice is great. The Dietitians are young, dedicated and informative. Like any health program you need time, plan and commitment to it, it is not a miracle program. You do need consistent dedication to learn and absorb, otherwise a waste of your money and resources.
It's been 12 months since I commenced my 6 month program with Miyagi. The dietitian coaching sessions were very helpful in keeping me on task and gave me plenty of tips on healthy eating and encouragement to exercise. Best of all it gave me ownership of the lifestyle changes I made, so since completing the program, I haven't returned to my poor habits. I have continued to maintain my new weight, especially good over winter when I used eat lots of comfort food and hibernate from exercise.
I joined October 2023 after being bamboozled by a fast talking Irish Guy. I ended up being convinced 12 months subscription is what I needed. So I started and I had a dedicated dietitian who I met with fortnightly as a fixed time and it was great. She left in April to have a baby and since then I have had no appointments, no dietitian, no nothing..... However they continue to take the exorbitant costs out fortnightly. Every time I make a complaint they scramble to do something but nothing ever happens, I advised I was going on holiday and wouldn't be available for a date they had finally suggested, yet they still called me overseas...... Whatever. Now they've offered to extend my subscription as opposed to giving me any money back for services I have not received. Honestly, I would not recommend this service (haha) to anyone. I am absolutely appalled and plan to seek assistance from the ACCC as this kind of "scam" needs to be addressed.
Ask for the ability to cancel and get your money back if it doesn't work for you or you find it is not suitable for you! My experience in life is that we are all different and for some this program will work. I would also say that the capability and the ability to help you will vary from dietician to dietician to be able to meet your needs and help you. On this basis, I have a big issue with there no cancellation and pay up front policy - this is a reason not to go with them. I can echo other feedback around their sales tactics are pushy, that they seemed very dis-organised and no accountable for delivering any results once you have paid the money. I was told that they only accept people who are suitable for the program and will benefit from it, however for me, my weight actually increased, and my bad cholesterol was higher at the end of the program. On their FB there have been many that haven't benefitted from it and feel that they this program is a money grab. Don't sign up if you can't cancel and get your money back !
Due to our experience, there is no way that I could recommend this arrogant organisation. I recently looked to join, but on the evening that I had my interview, our home hot water system unexpectedly blew up. Because of this, we decided to delay joining for a few months. However, we received the following email in response “Hi Brett Thanks for your email! Do you mean it's just bad timing? I am confused, You said you were 'motivated to change'... Brett, how are you going to change all this on your own, or without the right help? Most everything else out there is crap... and we are the best people to help you achieve all that you told me you wanted. No one is going to stand around at your grave or over your hospital bed saying, "Well, at least Brett saved that 4K on the health program." Are you looking at the big picture here? Best Name removed”
The service is incredibly DISORGANISED! There are multiple apps to manage and none of them seem to integrate well causing constant confusion and frustration... Felt like the advice I was given was very generic almost like they were reading off a script. No personalisation to my situation at all. The onboarding process was smooth thanks to Sofia but shortly after she disappeared from the team. This constant turnover of staff is worrying and makes the program feel unstable.

Dec 18,2024I have much to be grateful for but I count my blessings the day I decided to click the link which has lead me here…. My entire perspective has changed and I’ve achieved much personal healing as a result of internal reflection of mind, body and soul. I’m 2/3 through and will hit the big 6-0 at the end… I will be the fittest I’ve been for many years. I’m very proud of myself and the very sustainable changes I’ve made and will continue with. I hope everyone is able to find a little “me” time as we head towards the silliest week of the year
